Chapter 498 - 307: No Going Back! This Is My Prey
When the man appeared with Yang An, the city guards reacted quickly, peeking over the towering city walls to watch the two of them warily.
One wore a mask, the other was being flown like a kite. It was a truly eye-catching sight.
"Halt!"
A shout came from the men on the wall, ordering them to stop. But the man paid them no mind. He took a single step, and Yang An’s vision blurred. The scenery shifted, and in an instant, they were inside the city.
The city was quiet—a silence caused by the duo’s sudden appearance. Everyone on the main street turned to stare at the man and Yang An.
Yang An glanced at them. Just as he’d suspected, this was no place for mortals. These people were all Cultivators.
But just like the people from the Golden Sword Sect he’d seen before, they didn’t look human in his eyes. Instead, they were one humanoid shadow after another, their faces completely obscured.
Ignoring the countless stares as if on a leisurely stroll, the man led Yang An across the main street in the blink of an eye, finally stopping before a strange-looking building.
Just then, the surrounding shadows rushed toward the man in unison. At the same time, a wisp of black smoke shot out from the building ahead, soaring into the sky and speeding into the distance.
"Child’s play."
The man sneered and flicked his finger.
HUMMM—
In that instant, everything around them—the city’s buildings, the shadows charging at him—vanished without a trace.
A red line of blood rapidly solidified in the void before him, stretching to an unseen end.
He placed his hand on the bloodline. It immediately broke apart like a fuse, a SIZZLE echoing as it shot forward, trailing a thick mist of blood.
The blood mist formed a long dragon, its end out of sight.
But in the very next second, a shrill scream suddenly pierced the air from a distance.
Yang An watched all this in silence. The man then teleported them again. When Yang An came to his senses, the scenery had changed once more. He saw the man was now holding a listless person in his hand.
Unlike the humanoid shadows he’d been seeing, the person in the man’s grasp was a real human.
It was a little girl who looked to be only about ten years old. Held by the man, her body twitched uncontrollably as she constantly spat out blood.
Yang An noticed the little girl’s hands were deformed. Not only did she have fingers on her palms, but her arms were also covered in many strange, finger-like growths.
But what concerned him more was her head. Though stained scarlet with blood, he could still see that half her face was covered in dense black dots.
The black dots were like tadpoles, crawling over her face like living things. It was a terrifying sight.
The man holding the girl sighed softly, having clearly noticed this as well.
"Still trying to run in this state. You World Bodies are never obedient. If you’d just come back to the Daoist Sect with me quietly, you might have had a sliver of a chance. What’s the point of this futile resistance?"
He casually pointed a finger at the little girl’s head, then tossed her to Yang An’s side, flying her like a kite just as he was.
Seeing the black dots covering half the girl’s face, Yang An subconsciously shifted away from her.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t control his own body, just that he couldn’t resist.
’Why can I see the true forms of these World Bodies? Am I a World Body, too?’
Doubt filled Yang An’s mind.
After capturing the little girl, the man prepared to leave with Yang An and her.
But just as he lifted his foot, he suddenly set it back down and turned to look in another direction.
Yang An noticed his movement and also turned to look, his heart leaping in shock.
Somehow, another person dressed in black and wearing a mask had appeared just a stone’s throw away, standing opposite the man.
He saw their attire was identical, but the masks on their faces were different.
The newcomer’s mask bore the image of a fire—a crimson flame.
’Another Boundary Repairer!’
Yang An’s heart skipped a beat.
’This is bad!’
If before he had been racking his brain for any possible means of escape, still clinging to a sliver of hope, now his heart turned to ice.
If these two joined forces, he truly wouldn’t have the slightest chance of escape.
But unexpectedly, when the two Boundary Repairers from the Earth Immortal Dao Sect met, they were silent for a moment before the newcomer spoke coldly.
The mask etched with flames turned toward the little girl the man had just captured.
"Huan, she is my prey."
"Tsk tsk, she’s mine now. You were too slow, He!"
