Chapter 530 - 320: In the Stone Stele
The fog here was as viscous as water. Visibility was limited to what was directly in front of his face; he couldn’t even be sure he could see all the fingers on his outstretched hand. He had to rely entirely on his senses to move.
As he drew near, he finally sensed an incredibly powerful aura, one that far surpassed that of a Zombie God.
’The Insect Dao! The Great Demon of the Insect Dao from within Earth Demon Cliff!’
The Demon Fiend he’d met earlier hadn’t been lying. This was the heart of Earth Demon Cliff, and the so-called Death Lord was here.
Yang An had come precisely to find this so-called Great Demon of the Insect Dao. Now that he sensed its presence, he landed on the ground and began to approach slowly.
The countless Demon Fiends that had been pursuing him from behind saw that Yang An had reached this place and abruptly stopped their chase. Instead, they spread out, completely surrounding the area.
Sensing the actions of these Demon Fiends, Yang An became even more curious about this place.
After all, if he truly wanted to deal with these Demon Fiends, it wouldn’t take much time to eliminate all of them. The only threat was the Death Lord within the dense fog, so he paid the Demon Fiends’ actions no mind.
As Yang An drew closer, the faint sound of breathing seemed to drift from the depths of the dense fog. It was a loud sound, echoing continuously through the surrounding emptiness, as if made by some colossal creature.
But as he continued walking, the steady breathing suddenly vanished. A gust of wind blew past, slightly dispersing the surrounding fog. The mist flowed like a current of water, and the view before Yang An’s eyes gradually began to clear.
At that same moment, a voice suddenly spoke from right in front of Yang An.
"Why didn’t you kill them?"
It was a man’s voice. Though it clearly came from ahead, it felt as if it were ringing right in his ear.
What puzzled Yang An the most was that he sensed a hint of familiarity in the voice!
’I’m sure I’ve never met any Death Lord, nor have I had dealings with any Demon Fiends. So why does it sound so familiar?’
Yang An didn’t answer. He continued to move forward slowly. As the surrounding fog gradually dispersed, he finally saw the true face of the Death Lord.
On the empty ground stood a stone stele more than two meters tall. A man, his body covered in black patches, was fused with the stone stele. Only his head and two hands were exposed, both hanging limply downward.
He made no move to lift his head and look at Yang An, appearing like a prisoner who had been sealed here.
Yang An studied him, but the man’s messy, long hair obscured his face, making it impossible to see his features. On the arms exposed on either side of the stone stele, there were terrifying wounds of all sizes in addition to the black patches.
Some wounds had scabbed over, some had festered, and others were still bleeding profusely. Black blood dripped steadily onto the ground.
Yang An never expected this so-called Great Demon Fiend to actually be a man. His gaze subconsciously shifted from the man to the stone stele his body was fused into.
Just above the man’s head, a badly shattered mask was embedded in the stone stele.
Even though the mask was far from whole, Yang An could still piece together a very familiar pattern on its surface.
It was a simple pattern that looked like an eye...
At that moment, Yang An suddenly felt his breath catch. He looked at the man in the stone stele, his eyes wide with disbelief.
"...Huan?"
The next moment, the man, who had been hanging his head, slowly began to raise it.
"You know me?"
