Chapter 559 - 330: Killing Intent (Part 2)
In the next instant, the Forbidden Artifact Fragment he had fused with appeared between his eyebrows, and several more materialized in his hand.
’There’s still one last hope. I still have Forbidden Artifact Fragments!’
The Power of Rules was the ultimate power in this world, and he refused to give up this final attempt. Even if using the Power of Rules from these unfused fragments meant he would have to pay a price and endure great pain, he had to try.
’No amount of pain could compare to what the Bow Lady was feeling right now.’
The Bow Lady was reborn again. She had already been killed by the Demon Fiends countless times. This time, she no longer tried to flee. Instead, she closed her eyes in despair, awaiting the arrival of death.
She leaned against the wall, looking utterly alone. Realizing she could never escape the clutches of these Demon Fiends, she had simply given up all resistance.
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before she died a brutal death at the hands of the Demon Fiends once more.
A brilliant light erupted from within the endless black fog. Yang An had become light itself.
But not even "Golden Sun," a Top Grade Forbidden Artifact Fragment containing the Power of Rules to control Sunlight, could illuminate the bodies of these Demon Fiends.
The Life Rejuvenation Spell’s ability to seal off the world was equally useless, as they weren’t even in the same place to begin with.
Night Fang, capable of forcibly compressing living beings, couldn’t compress a memory of the past.
Living Barrier, able to control dead things, had no effect either.
There was one more Lower Grade Forbidden Artifact Fragment, which was even more useless, but Yang An used it anyway.
He tightly gripped the five unfused Forbidden Artifact Fragments in his hand as he finally activated the Energy Barrier—the one that could manifest the unbelievable.
The Bow Lady appeared once more, sitting on the ground. She drew her legs up, burying her head between them, and waited for the Demon Fiends to come.
’Death was a cycle. It was just a matter of experiencing the pain one more time.’
Yang An still stood protectively in front of the Bow Lady. He crouched down and reached out, wanting to pull the utterly desperate woman into his arms, wanting to shield her with his own body and bear it all for her.
The Forbidden Artifact Fragment known as the Energy Barrier dissolved into light, enveloping Yang An.
This light was soft, not the least bit blinding. It was like the gentle warmth of the sun, incapable of causing harm, yet allowing one to feel its heat.
But tragically, a hideous arm passed right through Yang An’s body, snatched up the Bow Lady, and clamped down hard on her neck.
CRACK.
The Bow Lady’s neck snapped instantly. Her body dropped to the ground right before Yang An’s eyes as the remaining Demon Fiends swarmed her.
"Hai Shu said whoever truly kills her gets to leave! It’s my turn next time!"
The Demon Fiends cheered. Hai Shu had dangled a prize before them, and killing the Bow Lady had become an opportunity every Demon Fiend wanted to seize. Even if they failed, it was still a highly entertaining show.
Yang An’s head was bowed, his body trembling. He couldn’t take it anymore.
’I can’t save her. All I can do is watch helplessly, again and again, as she dies right in front of me, as she gives up all hope.’
’Damn it!’
’Damn it!!’
’DAMN IT!!!’
He gritted his teeth, his face contorted with rage. ’When I get out of here,’ he swore, ’I will slaughter every single person in the Great Virtue Temple, from the highest to the lowest! Not one will be spared!’
’Those bastards! I won’t let a single one of them escape!’
The Bow Lady reappeared right on cue. For a moment, her eyes were perfectly clear, but the light in them quickly faded.
None of the Demon Fiends had left. They were waiting, knowing the Bow Lady would reappear.
"Look at me! Bow Lady!"
Yang An struggled to meet her gaze. It was as if their eyes were meeting across thousands of years, across two separate streams of time.
Miraculously, her head, which had already started to drop, froze for an instant.
It was as if they could truly see one another, feel one another’s presence.
"Trust me! I’ll get you out of here."
As Yang An met her gaze in that instant, an ethereal image of a winged eye suddenly appeared before him.
At the same time, the Forbidden Artifact Fragment in Yang An’s hand known as the Energy Barrier began to tremble violently.
The moment lasted but an instant, and the Bow Lady lowered her head again.
But in that same split second, she suddenly raised her head again and looked toward Yang An.
There was someone standing before her!
This person wasn’t grotesque like the Demon Fiends. He was radiating light, obscuring his face, but the glow that fell upon her was incredibly warm.
She just stared blankly at Yang An, completely still.
Just then, Yang An’s body shuddered. His senses were suddenly flooded with the auras of countless Demon Fiends—a dense, innumerable swarm.
Before, he could only sense the Bow Lady’s aura. But now, this sudden influx of Demon Fiend auras made him freeze as a realization dawned on him.
He looked at the Bow Lady, absolutely certain she could see him now.
At this moment, he had truly appeared before the Bow Lady, having crossed through time and space, bridging an entire era.
"Bow Lady..."
Yang An’s lips trembled, his voice shaking slightly.
He had tried countless methods and exhausted every trick he had. He never imagined that the thing to finally bring him before the Bow Lady would be that winged eye.
That eye seemed to have altered the Power of Rules within the Energy Barrier, allowing him to appear in a place he never should have been able to reach.
A look of confusion appeared on the Bow Lady’s face when she heard the name. She simply stared blankly at Yang An. Though she couldn’t see his face, she could feel the warmth of his light, and she subconsciously leaned a little closer to him, as if it gave her a sliver of security.
