4 Stories: Striped sediment in the second half of the year

The annual cycle created by nature, that is, the layer structure created at the bottom of the lake due to seasonal fluctuations, is referred to as [yearly stripes (sediment)]. Lakes, for example, reproduce vegetable plankton from spring to autumn, decreasing in winter. This result alternates between layers with more plankton and fewer layers at the bottom of the lake. It's been a year in these two layers. It is in principle the same, so to speak, annual wheel of the lake as the annual wheel produced by the fact that trees grow differently in the season.

There was a Mizuki Lake in Fukui Prefecture, which is arguably the most famous stripe in the world as an annual stripe in Japan. Yearly stripes long enough out of common sense created by terrain surrounded by mountains and not affected by river influx. What 70,000 years. And there's no lack of a year. Literally worthy of being called a miracle.

Not only did we provide data on Japan's past climate change, but we also provided the standard for global age measurements by analyzing the radioisotopes contained therein.

Most of all, what's in front of me right now is the same thing in the sense of yearly striped sediment, but it can be done differently. The so-called ice striped clay, the yearly stripes characteristic of glacial lakes, creates a pattern in which glaciers melt more often in summer and hardly in winter.

"You have different amounts of glaciers flowing into the lake depending on the season. That makes this layer...... So, the glacier has... Ah!

Mathier looked over the cliff with a stiff face. She must see magic that I don't see.

"Yes, the glacier that flows into this lake passes through the magic vent above. Along with shards of rock shredded by glaciers. What I want you to remember is the cultivation of that magic catalyst. The original source of the magic catalyst is the culture solution obtained from the soil. In other words, elements marked with magic are likely to exist"

Originally, glacier clay is only a mark to separate the years, and information may be important for biological data such as pollen caught between them. But in this investigation, the clay itself is the main body.

When I first came up with the boring survey, I was thinking about collecting ice bed cores. But unlike landing on continents such as Antarctica, glaciers flow. On top of that, the sample obtained is mostly atmospheric data. This means that this ice striped clay could be extraordinarily better as a sample.

Of course, if there were large-scale terrain or climate change in the meantime, there could be a blur or a lack in the record. Well, I don't want 70,000 years as high as Lake Mizuki, but at least I want less than a hundredth of that, 500 years of data. It's 50 centimeters, 100 years worth of trying digging earlier, you can expect it.

"You can expect denser data for a longer period of time than the annual wheel"

"... a record of 500 years of demonic veins!?

The crane that was getting closer at some point is solidifying.

"At all, there would hardly be a glacier in the kingdom. Well, Crane. Ricardo has different digits."

"But on the contrary, we can't take recent data"

Crane pointed to the glacier. Yes, this year, of course, data on objects for the past decades have not yet arrived at the lake.

About three hundred meters from the glacier's magic vent? It is true that the glacier travelled at speeds ranging from a few to a few dozen metres per year. Assuming as five meters the data for the last sixty years still remain trapped in ice. Mark the glacier and you'll know how far you'll travel in a year, but it'll take at least a year.

"Use the annual wheel from the tree here on that. First and foremost, because it's a record of the activity of the demonic vein 400 years ago."

"But you don't even know how many years of data we've had in the first place."

"I want to use the building materials that were in that ruin around there. Using the annual wheel data taken from the trees used for construction, we can get a record for the decades before that city perished. Find a place where you can apply it. Of course, it's impossible to make a strict comparison, but special wavelengths like the demonic pulse activity of recent years can ensure specificity"

"... well, if even deep red is rare but even higher wavelength side... Hehe, that's funny."

"Well, I hope it works out really well."

"Well, there's no certainty. And I can depend on you to see if I can pick that good sample..."

I put my head on it. Glacial lakes, for example, contain not only rock powder from a magic vent decades ago, but also leaves and pollen from this year's red trees. In that sense, there's a lot of noise.

It's just that something's getting too big. Samples are taken from the Crown Prince with the Prince's escort. I said there's no certainty, but this would really suck my retention if nothing happened. But you can't just look at the same wavelength as a crystal and leave it alone.

"I was flinching a little with cold water, but I'll make sure you're thorough, Crane"

Mathier returns to the lake with an exciting face. Crane also nodded silently. Expect them later. After that, it's an analytical method...

No, you're an uncatchable raccoon. I'll manually increase the annual wheel "Sample".

I thought so. When I lifted my hips, the area around the fireworks began to creep. A horse dragon knight, who was alert to the surrounding woods, rushes toward Dagobad. To my surprise, Craig is in the back seat of that horse.

"Warcraft approaching. All aboard!"

Dagobad's voice echoed. I looked up at the sky reflexively.

"By the woods. Pretty big. Crane, I'm gonna stop working on this. Gather at the horse dragon car. Ricardo's over here, too."

Mathier returns with a magic wand. I rushed towards the car.

"Don't be alarmed. This is a big one."

Dagobad skewered something like a demon wolf at the spear tip. White fur like a silver wolf. My body is big, too. Even the kingdom you came across in front of the ruins is a boss class, but even more so? The home of the Boulder Warcraft, near the Mountains of Blood?

"Dagobad, watch out for the Fei Long too," Craig's voice sounded. Several flying dragons appeared over the sky, the demonic crystals of the forehead gleaming in a glorious manner. Full of fuel.

A simultaneous attack on land and air is. No way, I guess we're working together.

"That's crazy. The one who just came out is injured."

Crane, who releases spiraling flames to provide support for the dragon cavalry, warns. A silver demon wolf just popped out of the woods now. The white fur is stained with red blood.

The next moment......

Jaggie!

A cracked squeal echoed from the back of the forest. At that moment, the Demon Wolves make a detour to avoid the Dagobirds and escape to a glance. The wolves running through the side of the horse dragon car don't even look at us.

Even in the sky, the Fei Long swirls and leaves on the other side of the mountain. A momentary battle blank was created.

"What..., this magical feeling..."

Maityle looked back at the woods behind her and sifted her shoulders in awe.

At the same time, something jumped out of the shadow of Oki. A giant black object moves through the gaps in the trees' red leaves. The size is about a flying dragon with spread wings. Long vertically. It gently stuck to the tree. A bursting thorny, black armor covers his body. I see a yellow spot-like pattern on the side. The abdomen seen from between the trees looks like a snake belly.

The mysterious black warcraft had the feet of a bloody demon wolf wrapped around its mouth. Then two similar warcraft popped up to separate us from Dagobad. A flying dragon's wing-like object is popping out of one mouth.

If you look closely, Kizaki's mouth is cracked to the left and right.

"That warcraft, of a completely different organism than before... Mayteel."

A body plan warcraft I've never seen. Both Mathier and Crane shake their heads. Unknown to them, too. But I don't care what you think, you're the apex predator here.
