Chapter 49: The fall of the duke family 2
Life has a special way of screwing you over.
You see, sometimes things seem to be going well. You think they’re finally getting better.
But fuck no.
They get worse.
Really, really worse.
"..."
Sometimes, you think things are already bad enough and tell yourself that, after this horrible period, things will finally improve.
Right?
But what the fuck do you mean the Duke Family is doomed?
Ronan took a deep breath as he looked toward the sky.
"Why is the world so unfair to a little ghoul?"
Ronan couldn’t help but ask.
Back in his room, Ronan sat on the bed, his mind filled with thoughts as Yen bowed after entering.
But Ronan was preoccupied.
Only after Bama had explained everything to him did he understand the situation—the death of his brother and his father’s decision to head to the Javo territory.
From the way Bama had explained it, Ronan understood the gravity of breaking the treaty.
The punishment would certainly not be light.
But Ronan still didn’t think it was that bad.
After all, he wasn’t a noble, so he didn’t understand most of the political matters surrounding the kingdom.
"Heh. I’m just an undead. Whatever happens to this kingdom or the Duke Family isn’t my concern."
Ronan muttered as he stretched his body before looking toward Yen.
"Come."
Ronan spoke.
Hearing this, Yen was jolted out of her thoughts and hurried closer.
"I don’t think killing those five people caused too much of a commotion. Either they weren’t that important, or the Duke Family is simply so high-ranking that we don’t hear about incidents like that."
Ronan paused, pondering the matter.
"Tonight, we’ll find out."
"You have to sneak out and tell me what the security is like. Has it changed? Has it become much tighter, making it harder for you to kill more people?"
"Also, if you hear any news, especially anything concerning the Duke Family or the Royal Family, tell me."
Ronan instructed.
"Yes, Master."
Yen replied.
She was curious about why Ronan was asking her to do this, but even she could sense the strange atmosphere surrounding the Duke Mansion.
On the first day they arrived, there had been a sense of depression.
Today...
It was as though a devastating event had occurred.
This brought a smile to Yen’s face.
The Duke Family should be destroyed.
Yen thought.
Meanwhile, Ronan tried to calm himself down.
But he simply couldn’t.
The eldest son of the Duke was dead.
He had been killed on the war front.
And he was the son of a Supreme Realm expert who had rushed to the Javo territory to demand justice for his son.
No one knew what would happen next.
But Ronan had a strong sense of foreboding.
Something was going to happen soon.
He needed to grow stronger.
And that was why sending Yen out tonight was important.
Even though she was still recovering, he needed to know what was happening outside.

Conjol Region**
At this moment, the Javo territory had become almost unrecognizable.
Most of the black trees had disappeared, replaced by massive red mountains that filled the surrounding area.
Except...
Each of those so-called red mountains was actually a giant heap of corpses.
Mountains of Javo corpses had been piled across the land.
At this moment, at least half of the Javo population in the territory had been wiped out.
Seven Supreme Realm Javos surrounded the lone human standing in their midst.
"Your human race should prepare for our attack."
One of them spoke, half of his face smashed and mangled.
The others had suffered varying degrees of injuries as they warily stared at the man standing before them.
He didn’t have a single visible injury.
"We’ll be waiting."
The Duke spoke indifferently.
He then shot into the distance at supersonic speed, leaving the Javo territory behind.

Capital
Duke Mansion
The Duke landed within the mansion.
The guards and servants immediately greeted him as he walked inside, his expression cold.
He headed straight toward his room.
The instant the Duke returned, not only were the elders of the Duke Mansion alerted, but the entire capital was as well.
News of his return quickly reached the Royal Family.
The moment the Duke entered his room and was finally out of everyone’s sight, he suddenly knelt on the ground and violently spat out blood.
His ribs were nearly shattered, and he had suffered severe internal injuries.
Fighting seven Supreme Realm experts was deadly.
Regardless of the external damage he had inflicted upon them, he was the one who had suffered the most.
His combat strength would be several times weaker now.
Yet he felt it had been worth it.
He only stopped fighting when he realized he could no longer muster the strength to launch another attack.
The Duke wiped the blood from his lips with a clean cloth before opening a small box.
Inside was a cool blue pill.
He immediately swallowed it.
A calming energy slowly spread throughout his body as his breathing gradually stabilized.
Although he was nowhere near his peak, some of his injuries had already begun to heal as the energy coursed through his body, soothing his damaged organs.
He took a sharp breath.
After resting for several minutes, he finally left his room.
The elders were waiting outside, their expressions filled with grief and bitterness.
"Our condolences, Duke."
The elders spoke.
What the Duke was experiencing was something no parent would ever want to endure.
But the truth was that no matter how many Javos he killed...
Not a single one of them could bring his son back but that didn’t mean he would simply sit back and accept it.
What he had done today had caused one of the most devastating losses suffered by the Javo race in its long history.., at least, for this particular population on the continent.
And that was enough.
Unfortunately, it was also as much as the Duke could do.
He couldn’t directly wipe out the entire Javo race.
"Rest well. We’ll take care of the rest."
The elders spoke as they saw the Duke heading toward the meeting room.
Hearing this, the Duke shook his head.
"I broke the agreement."
"I have caused a war between the Destal Kingdom and the Javo race, and I have to bear the responsibility."
"I’ll go see the King, but before that..."
"How about we discuss how we can minimize the impact this will have on the Duke Family as a whole?"
The Duke spoke.
The elders could only feel pity.
A man who had just lost his son had already been forced to shoulder the burden of an entire family.
He couldn’t even grieve for a moment.
And worse...
His revenge had caused catastrophic damage to the kingdom.
"Yes, Duke."
The elders replied as they followed him into the meeting room.
Meanwhile, Bama watched from afar.
His eyes were cold.
"Javo... race."
Bama gritted his teeth.
