Chapter 56: A Sovereign realm slave
Ronan was really stressed.
What the hell?
With Yen now at the Sovereign Realm, all she had to do was reach the peak of the Sovereign Realm. Once she did, she could attempt to break free from the slave collar.
Wait...
Wait.
Heh.
She was Ronan’s Blood Servant, right?
Shouldn’t he have one or two ways of controlling her?
Ronan smiled.
But then again, all of this was just a guess.
Perhaps once he reached the required Vampire Rank and evolved into a true vampire, he would gain some form of control over her.
But for now...
He had to be careful.
"Yen, what about your realm? How can you hide it from other Sovereign Realm experts, especially those in the Duke Mansion?"
Ronan couldn’t help but ask.
Although the Duke had been captured, the eight elders were still King Realm experts.
What if they suddenly discovered that his slave had gone from a Three-Star Transcendent to a Sovereign Realm expert?
They would immediately realize that something had changed.
"Don’t worry, Master. I have a treasure with me. As long as I don’t fully release my realm’s power, they won’t be able to detect it."
Yen spoke confidently.
Ronan nodded.
"But Yen, there’s something else I need to tell you."
"You are now an undead... at least partially. You’re a vampire, and you’ll have to consume blood."
"So you need to be careful about your reactions to other humans. I don’t know how intense your bloodlust will be, but you have to be careful."
Ronan warned her.
As for the treasure, Ronan couldn’t help but feel envious.
But for a girl who had survived this long while attempting to assassinate Bama, she must have had a few tricks up her sleeve.
What Ronan was truly worried about was the fact that Yen was no longer fully human.
She was now half-vampire.
Ronan himself was both a ghoul and a vampire, so perhaps that was why he could resist the instincts of both races.
But Yen was different.
And she was now a Sovereign Realm expert.
Just imagine what would happen if she couldn’t control her thirst for blood.
"Yes, Master. I understand."
"For the next few days, I’ll simply stay indoors."
Yen also understood the importance of the matter.
If she lost control, then even if her realm remained hidden, it would be useless.
Her identity as a vampire would be exposed.
And everyone knew that undead and humans were never meant to coexist.
Now Yen finally understood why Ronan had remained hidden and pretended to be a woman.
"Good girl."
Ronan smiled as he began covering his face and arms with his clothes.
Soon, the crimson-eyed Maiden was back.
"But Master..."
"Just a curious question, but... how are you so comfortable wearing women’s clothing?"
Yen asked.
Ronan took a sharp breath.
His eyes remained fixed on Yen’s crimson eyes for several seconds.
"Yen..."
"There are some secrets a person would take to their grave."
"This is one of them."
"Never ask again."
Ronan spoke seriously.
"Besides, your eyes..."
"Can you change them back to normal?"
"Ah... sorry, Master."
Yen bowed slightly.
"I’ll try."
She concentrated, and slowly, the crimson color faded from her eyes until her original brown eyes reappeared.
"Good."
Ronan nodded.
Saved.
I was dangerously close to revealing one of my secrets.
Ronan thought as he felt a nervous throb in his body.
"But with you staying indoors for a while, and me teaching you one or two things, we might fall behind on what’s happening outside."
"And that could disrupt our plan involving Bama."
Ronan sat on the couch as he pondered.
"Yes, Master."
Yen nodded.
"Also..."
"Can I still eat human food now that I’m a vampire?"
Yen suddenly asked.
Ronan immediately slapped his hands together.
"Dammit! I forgot about that."
"Yeah, we need to figure that out."
"We’ll test it tomorrow. For now, focus on exploring your vampire abilities."
"Yes, Master."
Yen nodded.
*********
The next day came rather quickly.
Yen was filled with energy. Now that she was a vampire, she felt as though she had an endless supply of it. At the very least, she could go for an entire week without sleep.
More importantly, she was fascinated by her newfound Sovereign power and her ability to fly. Although she couldn’t test it inside the mansion, once she was outside and free, she was certain she would be able to.
Another thing that amazed her was her abilities.
After testing them, she could truly understand just how terrifying they were.
And Ronan understood that even better.
He felt envious, jealous, and a whole host of other emotions.
But at the same time, he could only blame himself.
To advance, he would have to kill ghouls or vampires and evolve his Traits into more powerful abilities.
If one were to compare the two paths, Ronan’s was arguably better.
Unlike everyone else in this world, who needed an extended period of practice to increase their mastery, all Ronan needed to do was kill members of the same species over and over again.
Ronan was already planning for the future.
Once they left the Destal Kingdom, he would have to find a gateway to the Abyss.
At the very least, he could focus on his ghoul Traits there.
And with a Sovereign Realm expert by his side, once he reached the peak of the Transcendent Realm, the two of them could work together to hunt a vampire.
Ronan had a feeling that advancing his Vampire bloodline would require him to kill a vampire or obtain one or two of its body parts.
After all, just to become a Ghoul Lord, he had needed five human hearts and blood.
Who knew what he would need next?
"The food should arrive soon."
"Get ready, and stay behind me when I open the door."
"If you notice that you can’t control yourself, make sure you touch me, okay?"
Ronan spoke seriously as he looked at Yen.
At this moment, Yen was sweating.
She wore a thin top and looked exhausted.
She had spent the entire night testing her abilities, putting tremendous strain on her body.
"Yes... Master."
Yen nodded as she breathed heavily.
After becoming a vampire, she had encountered her first major obstacle.
Suppressing her instincts.
More specifically...
Her thirst for blood.
But time continued to pass.
The hands of the clock moved steadily, yet there was still no knock on the door.
One hour passed.
Then two.
Three...
Five hours.
At this point, both Ronan and Yen sensed that something was wrong.
The servants had never missed their usual meal times.
Now, eight hours had passed.
They had already missed two meals.
Only dinner remained.
Ronan and Yen’s hearts pounded as their thoughts ran wild.
Could it be that their secrets had been exposed?
But just then....
Knock! Knock!
