Chapter 47: She spoke!
Destal Kingdom****
"Argh..."
A soft female moan escaped as Yen opened her eyes, only to immediately close them again when the sunlight streaming through the window hit her eyes.
"You are awake."
Just then, she heard a soft, beautiful female voice from across the room.
At first, Yen simply wanted to go back to sleep when she heard the voice, but then her eyes suddenly snapped open.
A female voice.
And not inside her head.
Who was in this room?
Yen moved instantly, her leg stopping just inches from the neck of the owner of the voice.
"Really? You want to kill your master?"
Ronan couldn’t help but speak, his eyes narrowing.
"Ah!"
Yen yelped as she jumped up and hurriedly covered herself with the robes.
Her face flushed as she felt her breathing become uneven.
Ronan calmly lowered the finger that had blocked her attack and looked at the supposed assassin who had murdered five people the previous night acting like a little girl in love.
"Ma... Maiden..."
"Is... is this you?"
From beneath the blankets, yen spoke as Roban felt a vein bulge on his forehead.
What happened this time?
Or had he somehow exposed his face?
Fuck!
He would have to kill Yen.
Ronan hurriedly touched his face, but it was still covered, just like before. Only his crimson eyes were exposed.
So why the huge change?
"What is wrong, Yen? Speak."
Ronan sounded slightly annoyed.
"No, Master. No, it’s just that..."
Yen hesitated before blushing.
"You have become more beautiful."
Ronan slowly stood up from the bed, his face twisting with anger.
That’s it.
He was going to jump from the balcony and fall to his death.
What was wrong with the people of this world?
They could only see his fucking eyes, for crying out loud!
How had he somehow become more beautiful?
"System, come out here. Explain."
System: ^.^
"Dammit..."
Ronan took a deep breath, trying to steady himself.
Then he turned back toward Yen and spoke seriously.
"Look, I understand you have your... preferences."
"But please, be considerate. I won’t blame you for trying to kill Bama after he took your lover away but I’m your master and Bama’s..."
"Crush."
Ronan almost vomited when he said the word.
But now that he had gotten used to his new body, he couldn’t even vomit.
After all, he was a damn ghoul.
"Don’t tell me you’re planning to steal me from him?"
Ronan’s eyes widened.
Wasn’t this some juicy plot for a blockbuster series that would break millions of people’s hearts?
Ronan could swear that if he were still on Earth, he would pitch this idea to a movie studio.
But the instant Yen heard this, her body froze.
She felt as though she had heard him wrong.
What?
She looked up at Ronan, suddenly feeling that something was wrong with her so-called master.
Is the Maiden okay?
"Master... Maiden, you..."
Just as Yen was about to speak, Ronan raised his hand.
"Enough. I’m a civil and modern human. I respect everyone’s decisions, but please, respect mine too."
Ronan said this before walking out of the room.
"Huh? Civil... modern human? What is that?"
Yen couldn’t help but mutter.
She was used to Ronan sometimes speaking these strange terms she couldn’t understand.
But the most important thing was that she seemed to have been misunderstood by the Maiden.
"Master... Maiden... please, wait!"
Yen hurried after him.
But the moment she got out of bed, she noticed that her dress was different.
She was wearing a loose nightgown that was comfortable, and even her wounds had been redressed.
As for her old clothes...
They were gone.
Yen suddenly blushed.
Does that mean that... last night... she... changed my clothes?
So the Maiden saw everything...
Wait.
I’m a girl.
Why am I getting so flustered?
Yen thought, but then she couldn’t help remembering what Ronan had said.
Could it be that I really am like that?
But...
If it was the Maiden...
It doesn’t seem too bad.
If Ronan had been there to hear those thoughts, he probably would have suffered a heart attack from anger.
---
Outside.....
Ronan felt that today’s air was particularly refreshing.
It felt healthier somehow as he walked around the Duke Mansion with a bright smile.
"Good morning, Maid—"
The maid smiled as she greeted Ronan, but halfway through her sentence, she suddenly fell silent.
The Maiden has become even more beautiful...
She couldn’t help but think before blushing and quickly increasing her pace.
The Maiden must not see me.
I have to leave before my thoughts start running wild again.
Everyone was already used to the fact that the Maiden either couldn’t or simply wouldn’t speak.
But even without saying anything, her presence alone was overwhelming.
"Yeah... Good morning."
Ronan replied with a smile as he walked away.
Having a voice is lovely.
Ronan thought happily.
Meanwhile, the maid stood frozen in place.
The Maiden... spoke.
Her voice...
It was the most beautiful voice I have ever heard.
The maid rushed toward the kitchen, where she found several other maids carrying plates and assisting the chefs with preparing food.
"Everyone... stop!"
Breathing heavily, the maid spoke to the dozens of people in the kitchen.
Everyone turned to look at her strangely.
What was wrong with her?
And why was she breathing so heavily?
Just as they were about to ask, the maid hurriedly spoke.
"I... I met the Maiden... and... she has become even more beautiful."
Everyone instantly rolled their eyes.
Why was she behaving like this was the first time she’d seen the Maiden?
Everyone here had seen the Maiden before.
They had all been shocked by her beauty as well, but she shouldn’t have come all the way to the kitchen just to tell them that the Maiden had become even more beautiful.
"No... she... greeted me."
Just as everyone was about to continue preparing the food, the maid added those words.
Everyone froze.
What?
"Jayla... are you serious about this?"
A stern-looking man wearing traditional chef’s attire stepped forward, his eyebrows furrowed.
"Yes..."
Jayla nodded, still breathing heavily.
"She... spoke to me."
