Chapter 54: How far can you go ?
"Tell me.
"What is your background?"
"And why do you want to kill Bama?"
Ronan asked as the room fell silent.
It was a sensitive question, but Ronan needed to know more about his slave’s past. It was about time. Yen didn’t seem like someone who had become a killer simply because she enjoyed it.
But her eyes...
They carried such deep hatred and story never told.
And now, Ronan had finally asked her about it.
To be honest, if Yen didn’t want to talk about it, Ronan wouldn’t force her. He would respect her wishes.
What if it involved some kind of secret?
If someone asked Ronan a question that could expose his system, of course he wouldn’t answer.
"It all began when we were young."
Yen took a deep breath before speaking.
Ronan was somewhat surprised by her willing to share her story. Nevertheless, he leaned forward and listened attentively as Yen began narrating her story with her elder sister.
As they grew older, so did their beauty.
And with that came their first exposure to the real world.
Fake love.
Expensive gifts.
False kindness.
At first, they believed life was beautiful.
Until her sister was taken away.
Eventually, Yen ran away to grow stronger, while Bama discarded her sister after he grew bored with her.
According to what Yen later heard, the trauma had been too much for her sister.
She eventually took her own life.
And from that day onward, Yen vowed to kill Bama, even if it cost her own life.
"I’m sorry for not showing you my true face, Maiden..."
"But give me time."
"I will... show you soon."
Yen bit her lips softly.
Ronan felt his heart ache.
Seeing that pitiful expression on such a beautiful woman made Ronan feel restless.
He wanted to comfort her.
He wanted to put an end to her sadness.
He also wanted to tell her that he could actually see her for who she truly was.
Ronan clenched his fist as he looked at Yen.
Her dream was almost impossible to accomplish.
At least, with her current talent.
Her Traits weren’t bad, but at most, she would probably never surpass the Transcendent Realm.
Meanwhile, Bama had a personal bodyguard at the peak of the Sovereign Realm.
Ronan was afraid that Yen would spend her entire life chasing revenge, only to never become strong enough to kill Bama.
But what if...
He removed that limitation?
Ever since Ronan had become a ghoul—(less than two weeks ago, by the way)—he had been alone.
But it went further than that.
Even in his first life, Ronan had been a loner.
He had always been one.
But this was a world with magic with Gods, Dragons and Abyssal creatures.
This was a world where people could dream and actually reach for the impossible.
Nothing was truly impossible.
You simply had to believe...
And be crazy enough to pursue it.
Ronan didn’t want to live this life the way he had lived on Earth.
No.
He wanted a giant harem.
He wanted to conquer the world.
He wanted to enjoy the best things this world had to offer.
And right now, Ronan made up his mind.
"Yen..."
"Are you aware that what you want to do is almost impossible?"
Ronan asked softly.
He expected Yen to flare up.
Instead, she cried.
"I know..."
"I fucking know."
"I’ve tried my best, Maiden, but I’ve failed again and again."
"I’m not some talented genius who can easily reach the Sovereign Realm or become a King Realm expert."
"I know I might never be able to kill Bama."
"But what about my sister?"
"Even if there’s an impossibly tiny chance..."
"I want to live for it."
"I want to try."
"I want to give it everything I’ve got."
Yen broke down as she knelt on the ground.
Hearing this, Ronan seemed to make up his mind.
"What if..."
"There’s a way?"
"A way for you to surpass your limits?"
"What if there was a power that could grant you your wish?"
"But in exchange..."
Ronan’s voice deepened.
"You would lose your humanity."
Hearing this, Yen stopped crying.
Had she heard him correctly?
A power that could grant her wish?
But in exchange, she would lose her humanity?
That...
That was something she was willing to give up.
"I want it, Master."
"I don’t need my humanity. I have nothing left to live for, and—"
"I understand."
Ronan smiled softly as he cut her off.
"But you have something to live for."
"I’m sure your sister would want you to enjoy your life and live the best life you can."
"So don’t say that."
"But I can promise you something."
"As long as you agree, I will make Bama suffer."
"I will help you accomplish your revenge."
"And if you gain any other enemies in the future, I’ll help you defeat them as well."
"But you have to remain loyal to me."
"To me alone."
Ronan crouched down and looked directly into Yen’s teary eyes.
Those tears made his heart ache.
Meanwhile, Yen couldn’t help but become entranced by those crimson eyes.
They were beautiful.
Far too beautiful.
But she quickly snapped out of it when she felt her heart racing.
She knew Ronan had secrets.
He didn’t eat.
He never showed his face.
He had never fully revealed who he was.
His entire body was always covered.
But she had chosen not to pry.
Everyone had their secrets.
Still...
She was curious.
Who exactly was the Maiden?
Would she finally find out today?
"Tell me..."
"Do you want to embrace the chaos?"
Ronan asked.
Yen slowly nodded.
"Hahahaha!"
Seeing this, Ronan laughed wildly.
His feminine voice suddenly broke.
His true voice emerged. It was cold, hoarse and deep.A voice that made one’s ears tingle.
"Are you sure?"
Ronan asked once more.
His scarf and outer clothing fell to the ground one after another.
And then.., his Ghoul body was revealed .
His bald, pale-white head.
His hollow eye sockets containing those beautiful crimson eyes.
His pale lips.
Two pairs of razor-sharp fangs.
Parts of his body still retained traces of human flesh, but there was no mistaking what stood before Yen.
He was...
"An undead?"
Yen whispered in shock.
Ronan grinned.
"Exactly."
"My name is Ronan."
"And I am an undead."
