Chapter 134 - little commotion
We entered the castle-like building and followed the Empress and my mother.
They led us toward a pair of enormous doors.
Two guards stood on either side.
As we approached, the guards immediately opened the doors.
The massive doors slowly swung open, revealing an enormous hall.
We entered.
My eyes immediately wandered around the room.
Almost every major race was represented here.
Kings.
Queens.
Emperors.
Powerful nobles.
And other influential figures.
All of them had gathered for this meeting.
I didn’t stop to stare.
I simply followed the Empress and my mother.
At the center of the hall was a massive round table, with the representatives of the various races seated around it.
The Empress and my mother took their seats.
Luna stood beside me, while Amy and Elena moved closer as well.
We waited as the remaining representatives arrived.
Eventually, everyone had taken their seats.
The meeting began.
And within a few minutes...
I was already bored.
Luna seemed to feel the same way.
Neither of us had any interest in listening to hours of discussions, greetings, political matters, and whatever else adults liked talking about.
So we quietly moved toward a corner of the hall.
Once we were far enough away, I turned toward Luna with an excited grin.
"What do you think?"
"Aren’t you excited?"
"We’re going to have so much fun together!"
Luna nodded with a smile.
"Yeah."
"We’re going to crush it."
Then she puffed out her cheeks slightly.
"But let’s work together."
"And don’t run off because you get too excited."
"If you do, I’ll hit you."
I immediately raised my hands.
"Okay, okay."
"Who do you think I am?"
"Can’t you trust me?"
"Aren’t I reliable?"
Luna stared at me.
"No."
My eyes widened.
"How can you say that?"
"I’m the most reliable person here!"
She looked at me as if I had just told her the funniest joke.
"Yeah, yeah."
"When you see something fun, you forget everything else and run toward it."
I paused.
I thought about her words.
...
She had a point.
"It’s not entirely true..."
My voice was noticeably less confident this time.
Luna laughed.
"Oh, I know."
We continued chatting when suddenly—
A familiar voice came from nearby.
"Oh."
"Look who’s here."
I immediately recognized the voice.
The Dragon Prince.
He walked toward us with an arrogant expression.
"Do you remember what I said?"
"Pray that we never meet."
"Well..."
"Now we’ve met."
His voice became louder, clearly intending to draw attention.
"Just wait until the tournament begins."
"I’ll make you beg for your life."
"You pathetic human."
"The disrespect you showed me before..."
"I still remember it clearly."
Several people around the round table began paying attention.
Even the Empress, my mother, and the Dragon Lord looked toward us.
I glanced at Luna.
Then I asked casually,
"Hey, Luna."
"Do you have any insect spray?"
Luna blinked.
She looked completely confused.
Why was I asking about insect spray right now?
Still, she answered honestly.
"No."
"You’re the one who carries everything."
I clicked my tongue.
"Ah."
"I forgot to bring one."
I sighed dramatically.
"There’s a fly buzzing around here."
"It’s so annoying."
"If only I had some insect spray."
I paused.
Then my gaze shifted toward the Dragon Prince.
My expression suddenly changed into one of exaggerated surprise.
"Oh."
"It’s not a fly."
"It’s a big lizard."
"I almost missed it."
"Sorry, lizard."
"Go eat some insects."
"I don’t have any."
"You’ll probably have better luck if you leave now."
The Dragon Prince’s face turned purple with rage.
Luna immediately covered her mouth.
Her shoulders began shaking.
Now she understood exactly why I had asked about insect spray.
Across the room, the Empress wasn’t doing much better.
She was desperately trying to suppress her laughter.
Even my mother had a faint smile on her face.
Several other representatives also struggled to hide their amusement.
Some of them clearly understood the situation.
If this was how the Dragon Prince treated everyone, they probably knew exactly how annoying he could be.
The Dragon Lord’s expression, however, became grim.
The Dragon Prince finally lost control.
"You seek death!"
A massive fireball suddenly formed in his hand.
Then he launched it directly toward me.
The Empress’s eyes narrowed.
But before she could move, my mother calmly spoke.
"Auralia."
"Let him handle it."
The Empress looked at her for a moment.
Then she nodded.
She seemed interested in seeing what I would do.
The massive fireball rushed toward me.
I simply looked at it.
Then I activated Devour.
The fireball disappeared.
I had consumed it completely.
The Dragon Prince’s eyes widened.
Before he could react—
Space distorted beside me.
A Space Bullet formed.
I fired it.
Whoosh!
The attack passed straight through his ear.
Blood immediately began flowing down the side of his face.
He staggered backward and grabbed his ear.
But his hatred completely overwhelmed the pain.
I looked at him with a bored expression.
"Oh."
"Little lizard is even weaker than I imagined."
"And you still have the courage to call me pathetic?"
I tilted my head.
"I think ’pathetic’ suits you much better."
My eyes became cold.
"You pathetic little lizard."
Then I immediately turned toward Luna.
The coldness vanished from my expression as if it had never existed.
"Luna."
"Let’s take a few steps back."
"What if his weakness is some kind of contagious so it’s better to be cautious?"
Luna couldn’t hold it anymore.
She burst into laughter.
I smiled and walked toward Amy with her.
Behind us, the Dragon Prince stood there with blood dripping from his injured ear.
His raw hatred was the only thing keeping him focused on me.
The Dragon Lord immediately stood up, clearly intending to intervene.
But several representatives turned toward him with cold expressions.
"Don’t you dare intervene."
"Your son started this."
"He has to take responsibility for his own actions."
The Dragon Lord clenched his fist.
Another representative spoke.
"This is neutral ground."
"Your son’s actions cannot simply be ignored because he is a Dragon Prince."
Some people also glanced toward the Empress, clearly warning her not to escalate the situation.
The Empress’s eyes narrowed.
"That brat started it."
"Gray merely retaliated."
"He didn’t cause a fatal injury."
"So stay out of this."
Her voice became colder.
"This is neutral ground."
"Don’t think you can throw your weight around here."
"We don’t care who you are."
Silence filled the hall.
Everyone understood the balance of power here.
No race could simply dominate the others.
The Dragon Lord eventually sat back down.
The Dragon Prince understood it as well.
If he pushed the situation any further, even his father couldn’t freely intervene.
He had no choice but to retreat.
But before leaving, he glared at me.
"This isn’t over."
"I’ll come for you the moment the tournament begins."
I simply yawned.
The meeting continued.
I walked over to Amy.
She placed a hand on my shoulder and burst into laughter.
"That was a good one, Gray."
"You should’ve seen that dragon boy’s face."
"It was hilarious."
I smiled.
"Yeah."
Luna came over as well, and the three of us chuckled together.
Then, while we were talking, someone approached us.
I looked up.
A girl stood in front of us.
She had black hair and blood-red eyes.
The same general features as me.
She extended her hand toward me.
"Hello."
"My name is Roselia von Crimson"
She introduced herself as a princess of the Vampire race.
I looked at her for a moment before taking her hand.
"Nice to meet you."
"I’m Gray Starlight."
I deliberately kept my introduction simple.
Just Gray.
No title.
No status.
Nothing else.
Then she turned toward Luna.
Luna politely introduced herself.
"I’m Luna von Valtherion, the Third Princess of the Human Kingdom."
Rosalia shook both our hands before giving us an amused smile.
"Hmm..."
"I saw what happened earlier."
"You’re certainly an interesting human."
Her eyes briefly moved toward me.
Then she asked the most important question.
"Would you like to form an alliance?"
"I saw how strong you are."
"You effortlessly brushed off that dragon’s attack and counterattacked with such precision."
"I like your abilities."
"How about we team up in the Secret Realm?"
"Or, at the very least, remain neutral toward each other."
I thought about her proposal.
Then I looked at Luna.
After a moment, I turned back toward Rosalia.
"Hmm..."
"I don’t mind."
"I actually prefer the second option."
"Unless one of your people attacks me or my friends, I have no reason to come after anyone either."
Rosalia studied me for a moment.
Then she asked,
"And what happens if we find a treasure?"
I shrugged.
"How about this?"
"If we find a treasure, whoever reaches it first gets to keep it."
Rosalia nodded.
"That sounds fair."
I added one more condition.
"But we’ll keep our distance."
"If we encounter each other inside the Secret Realm, we’ll simply go our separate ways."
She nodded again.
"Agreed."
A small smile appeared on her face.
"Nice cooperation."
