Chapter 56: Liu Yidao
Chenyang had indeed been listening intently while Qin Fei’Er introduced the first few beautiful young wives.
But by the time she got to the last few, his mind was busy mulling over the status and standing of these rich women, so he only vaguely heard the last two or three introductions.
He now looked where Lin Xiaowei was pointing.
The beautiful young wife sitting there was wearing a yellow floral-print dress.
She had exquisite features and a tall, slender build.
Her proportions were arguably the best among all these beauties.
Her full breasts were prominent, but not overly large like Qin Fei’Er’s.
Her bottom was perky and plump, but not at all flabby.
Her slender, hand-span waist was cinched tightly by the dress.
Together with her high-set breasts and perky bottom, it formed a striking S-shaped curve.
The slender legs revealed beneath the hem of her dress were utterly flawless.
Long, straight, and shapely.
Not a trace of excess fat, not a single blemish.
She was a work of nature, as if she were a masterpiece meticulously sculpted by the heavens.
Paired with her cool, fair complexion, her beauty was simply sublime.
"Her last name is Liu, right?"
Lin Xiaowei nodded and explained, "Her name is Liu Yun. She’s the Deputy Director of the Emergency Department and also the Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. She’s the only manager at the City Hospital to hold two director-level titles. She’s been in practice for ten years and has performed nearly a thousand operations. For all types of OB/GYN surgeries, she’s the city’s foremost authority. It’s said she has a zero-error rate, and her incisions always heal the best, leaving the most aesthetic scars. Both patients and staff call her Liu Yidao!"
"She’s that amazing?"
"Of course! One day, I want to become just like her!"
Chenyang glanced at Lin Xiaowei.
He wouldn’t deny that Lin Xiaowei was pretty, or that she had excelled in all her subjects at medical school.
But as for becoming someone like Liu Yun, she was still a long, long way off.
It wasn’t that Chenyang looked down on Lin Xiaowei; rather, her temperament made it unlikely she would achieve great things in the field of medicine.
As a doctor, when faced with any condition, one can’t be indecisive or hesitant. Judgments must be precise, and treatments must be steady.
But Lin Xiaowei was timid and prone to self-doubt.
Furthermore, whenever she faced a critical situation, she had a habit of second-guessing herself and becoming indecisive.
This trait alone would cause her to miss the optimal treatment window in certain medical roles, especially in the emergency department.
Of course, this was none of Chenyang’s business.
He hadn’t even sorted out his own job yet, so he was in no position to criticize others.
Instead, he began to quietly consider how he could get Liu Yun’s help.
"Does this Miss Liu the Beauty have any hobbies?"
"You want to play to her preferences so she’ll help you get a job at the hospital?"
"Yes."
"I’m afraid that’ll be difficult. Even if my mother-in-law helps you, it might not work out. Privately, Aunt Liu seems easygoing, but at work, she’s the type who won’t tolerate the slightest imperfection. You don’t have a diploma or a practicing license. That point alone makes it highly unlikely she’d agree to let you into the hospital.
And even if my mother-in-law helps and she finds a way to get you a position, you probably wouldn’t last long before she fires you."
"Why’s that?"
"She’s incredibly overbearing at work, and her professional standards are so high you could only call them draconian. I once saw her chew out a young intern for two minor mistakes on a doctor’s order. I’ve also heard about a visiting exchange doctor she sent packing right back to his hometown for a medication error.
In short, she’s very strict with doctors and nurses, and she despises people who use backdoors or pull strings! So if you want to work at the hospital, I wouldn’t recommend asking her for help."
Chenyang raised an eyebrow. "She looks so charming and alluring, without a trace of a cold or aloof air. But listening to you, she sounds like the most difficult one to get along with in this whole group of beauties. You’re not just making this up to scare me off because you’re worried about us working together, are you?"
Lin Xiaowei quickly shook her head. "No! Everything I’m saying is true! If you don’t believe me, you can ask my mother-in-law. Aunt Liu is like two different people in her private life and at work, almost like she has a split personality. Outside the hospital doors, you can joke with her all you want. But once you step inside, forget about joking around—even one small, careless action could get you a vicious tongue-lashing from her."
"She’s that difficult?"
"’Difficult’ doesn’t even begin to cover it! She’s basically a demoness! You think they call her Liu Yidao just because she’s good with a scalpel? No! It’s because when she scolds someone, her words cut you like a knife to the heart."
’So that’s the real reason they call her Liu Yidao.’
Chenyang stroked his chin thoughtfully. "So she doesn’t have any weaknesses, or anything that could be used to my advantage?"
"I heard her husband is the director of the City Hospital. Many of her family’s elders hold significant positions in the city and provincial medical systems. The woman isn’t short on money, connections, or power. What do you think you could possibly use to your advantage? As for weaknesses..."
At this, Lin Xiaowei’s eyes lit up. "Well, there is one thing... It’s not really a weakness, but if you could manage it, there’s a very good chance she’d pull some strings for you. She might even be able to get you a permanent staff position, skipping the internship entirely."
