Chapter 44 - 43: He Seems to Have Discovered Something Extraordinary
Stepping inside the opposite villa, Yvonne Lowell glanced around. The decor hadn’t changed much from when the property was handed over.
Since every villa in Tidalview came with luxury renovations, she had expected him to completely overhaul it in that cold, stark, black-and-white style favored by domineering CEOs.
If he had actually done that, she might have murdered Leo Grant for wasting her design.
Leo Grant: My laziness and good taste saved my hide! Thank god I’m not a fan of that cold, stark, black-and-white style!
Yvonne Lowell glanced at their still-linked fingers, the corners of her mouth twitching upward. "Handsome, I need to borrow your men for a second."
"Is something wrong? I can help you just as well." Leo Grant instinctively tightened his grip.
"You can’t help with this. Be good." Yvonne Lowell turned her head. "Warren Lynch."
"Miss Lowell." Warren Lynch took half a step forward.
"Come outside with me for a moment."
Without waiting for his reply, Yvonne Lowell let go of Leo Grant and strode outside.
The four grown men were left staring at each other in confusion. Leo Grant looked at his empty palm, his lips pressed into a thin line, a hint of displeasure on his face.
Warren Lynch glanced timidly at Leo Grant. "Boss?"
"What are you standing around for? Hurry up and go!" Leo Grant didn’t even glance at him as he started to follow Yvonne Lowell.
Silas Lynch pushed him towards the door. "Go on, go on."
Nolan Crawford shook his head in disgust. ’Tsk, tsk. So this is what it looks like when a man who never dates finally falls in love. Truly terrifying. He’s getting jealous over *this*? He can get jealous over this, too? What a king of jealousy!’
...
Yvonne Lowell stood in the backyard, looking at the four men before her, her temple twitching slightly.
’How many people did I ask to come out here again?’
’Oh well, whatever. It’s all the same anyway.’
Yvonne Lowell crooked a finger at Warren Lynch. "You, come here."
Warren Lynch secretly glanced at Leo Grant. Seeing him standing to the side with a blank expression, he could only step forward sheepishly.
Yvonne Lowell stood a meter away from him and said, "Now, using all your strength, punch me."
Everyone’s expression changed, and Warren Lynch was even more stunned. "Th-this... How can I do that? I can’t, Miss Lowell. I don’t know my own strength."
"No way, Yvonne, you’re torturing yourself!"
"Yeah, Miss Lowell! Warren Lynch might not have much else, but he’s got the strength of an ox."
Nolan Crawford and Silas Lynch also quickly tried to talk her out of it. Only Leo Grant stood to the side without saying a word.
"Shut up." Yvonne Lowell glared at the gawking onlookers, then looked back at Warren Lynch. "Hurry up. Stop dawdling."
Nolan Crawford tugged at Leo Grant. "Bro, say something! You can just stand by and watch this?"
The corner of Leo Grant’s mouth curved up slightly. He seemed to have discovered something incredible.
"How can you still be smiling?" Nolan Crawford was dumbfounded.
’So she lets go of his hand and he doesn’t love her anymore?! Damn, what a scumbag!’
Leo Grant ignored him, instead walking to Yvonne Lowell’s side. "How about I do it instead?"
"Forget it. You’re not up to it." Yvonne Lowell pushed him away.
Leo Grant’s lips pressed into a straight line. He stood there with his head hanging. "I am up to it! I’m *very* up to it!"
The onlookers: What are you two even talking about? "Up to it" or "not up to it"... can you really say things like that in public???
Yvonne Lowell found it rather amusing. She squeezed his hand. "I’m just worried he’ll hurt you. Be good now, and stand aside and wait for me."
"Alright. Then you be careful." Leo Grant squeezed her hand back.
A moment later, he let go and stepped aside.
The gazes of the three men darted back and forth between the two of them. ’What’s with them? What does this mean? Are they still in love or not? Did they have a fight?’
Yvonne Lowell lifted her chin at Warren Lynch. "Come on."
Warren Lynch remained rooted to the spot, not daring to move.
Leo Grant glanced at Yvonne Lowell. "Warren Lynch, do it."
"Boss...?" Warren Lynch was confused.
"This is an order. Do it."
Hearing the word "order," Warren Lynch’s expression instantly became serious. He glanced apologetically at Yvonne Lowell. "My apologies, Miss Lowell."
With that, he raised his hand and swung his fist at Yvonne Lowell.
However, he still held back, using only seventy percent of his strength.
Leo Grant watched this scene nervously. Nolan Crawford and Silas Lynch went so far as to cover their eyes, leaving only a tiny slit to peek through.
But in the next second, they were all shocked. Leo Grant also let out a visible sigh of relief.
Yvonne Lowell had easily caught his fist, holding it tightly in her hand.
"This..." Feeling the pain in his hand, Warren Lynch frowned.
Yvonne Lowell released his hand in disgust. "Is this the best you’ve got? Again."
Warren Lynch once again punched at her with all his might, but Yvonne Lowell still caught it just as steadily.
"Again."
"Again."
"Again."
...
After several rounds, Warren Lynch’s stamina was already depleted.
Yvonne Lowell let him go. "Alright, that’s enough."
Leo Grant walked up with a handkerchief to wipe her hands. "How was it?"
Warren Lynch: So? Am I some kind of filthy object?
"Your ’Unbridled’—is only one of them a superpower user, or is he the only one without powers?" Yvonne Lowell didn’t answer, instead posing a question.
Leo Grant was stunned for a moment. "You could tell?"
"Yep. Just answer the question."
’Looks like I underestimated my Little Marshmallow. She’s much more amazing than I imagined.’
"He’s the only one who doesn’t. Back then, I also suspected he had the potential."
"So he knows about it himself, right?"
"Mhm." Leo Grant put the handkerchief back in his pocket and nodded.
Yvonne Lowell understood. She turned and walked toward Warren Lynch. "Warren Lynch, if I told you I have a way to awaken your superpower, but the process might be a little painful, would you be willing to try?"
A superpower refers to a special ability that is different from that of an ordinary person.
They come in many varieties, but very few people possess them, so they are largely unknown to the world.
Most superpower users have been recruited by the state, with the exception of some malicious individuals who choose to use their powers for evil.
[Leo & Yvonne: A little on the nose, don’t you think, Author Dearest...? We’re the good guys who *haven’t* been recruited!]
There are three main ways to obtain them: being born with them, awakening them later in life, or having them triggered by a special event.
Take her, for example. She was a fifty-fifty mix of the latter two methods.
Due to the rarity of superpower users, there has been no definitive research to prove that superpowers are hereditary.
She had met members of the Grant and Crawford families, and of them, only the two men present had superpowers. In the Lowell family, she was the only one with a superpower, and besides them, only her second cousin from the Sutton family had one.
As for Zachary Jacobs and Nina Jennings, the old man had given them a push back in the day, and they had suffered a great deal before their powers were awakened. Therefore, she couldn’t determine whether these powers were hereditary or not.

Mini-Theater
Leo: My house is beautiful, isn’t it? My wife designed it specially for me.
Yvonne: Heh, not really. It was just a one-click design template. It would’ve been the same no matter who I sold it to.

Leo: She was worried about me!
Bystander: She said you weren’t up to it!
Leo: You guys don’t know shit!
