"Use your phone!"

A flashlight came on.

Its narrow beam moved across rusted machinery and empty storage shelves.

Nothing appeared.

The man holding it breathed heavily.

"There’s no one here."

A voice answered from behind him.

"You’re wrong."

He froze.

Shen Yan stood less than a meter away.

Her green eyes reflected the flashlight.

Before he could shout...

The light fell from his hand.

The warehouse returned to darkness.

When the lights came back on...

The three attackers were seated in separate metal chairs.

Their hands had been restrained behind them.

Their weapons lay dismantled on the floor.

Shen Yan stood before them.

Her black coat remained perfectly clean.

Not a strand of her hair was out of place.

The injured man struggled against the restraints.

"Who are you?"

Shen Yan looked at him with disgust.

"You saw me on the highway."

His face paled.

The second man tried to sound confident.

"You can’t keep us here."

She ignored him.

Instead...

She placed a photograph on the table.

It showed Shen Tian leaving the airport.

The image had been taken that afternoon.

"You watched him."

She placed down another photograph.

The car entering the highway.

"You followed him."

Another.

The truck accelerating.

"You attacked him."

Her hand paused on the final image.

It showed the ruined vehicle after the crash.

For the first time... Her fingers trembled.

Only slightly.

"You made him sit beside a destroyed car while strangers checked whether he was still alive."

The men said nothing.

Shen Yan slowly raised her gaze.

"Tell me who hired you."

The first man laughed nervously.

"We don’t know."

She walked toward him.

"Wrong answer."

"I swear!"

"We only received instructions!"

"From whom?"

"A broker!"

"Name."

"We never met him!"

Shen Yan stared at him.

The man began sweating.

She leaned down until her face was near his.

Her voice became almost gentle.

"My brother believes people deserve opportunities to correct their mistakes."

A faint smile formed. "I don’t."

She straightened.

"What was the broker’s name?"

The man remained silent.

Shen Yan picked up the disposable phone they had used.

She placed it on the table.

"You called three numbers."

The men’s expressions changed.

"One belonged to an unregistered relay. One connected to a private security company. The final number was registered through a shell corporation."

She tilted her head.

"That corporation belongs to the Han Family."

The third man cursed under his breath.

"Shit..."

Shen Yan looked toward him.

"So you do recognize the name."

"No."

"You reacted."

"I didn’t."

She walked closer.

He tried to lean away.

The chair scraped across the floor.

Shen Yan placed one hand on the back of it and stopped him effortlessly.

"Which member of the Han Family?"

"I don’t know."

"Which one?"

"I said I don’t know!" His voice echoed through the warehouse.

Shen Yan’s expression remained unchanged.

She did not raise her voice.

She did not lose control.

That made her more frightening.

For the next hour...

She questioned them separately.

She compared every answer.

Every hesitation.

Every contradiction.

Whenever one lied... She calmly returned to the beginning.

Again. And again.

She never allowed them to rest long enough to invent a consistent story.

The pressure slowly broke them apart.

The first attacker blamed the second.

The second blamed the broker.

The third finally gave her a name.

Han Zhenyu.

The second son of the Han Family patriarch.

A member of one of the city’s four strongest families.

He had arranged the attack to damage the Shen Family while Shen Tian’s father remained overseas.

The plan was simple.

Kill Shen Tian.

Disguise it as a highway accident.

Leak the news before the Shen Patriarch could return.

Allow the Shen Family’s rivals to attack its businesses while its leadership was destabilized.

Shen Yan listened without interrupting.

When they finished...

She asked one final question.

"Was anyone else involved?"

The third man nodded desperately.

"Han Zhenyu’s uncle approved the funds. The family’s security director provided the vehicle and weapons. Several executives knew something was happening, but I don’t know if they knew the target."

Shen Yan picked up the photographs.

She arranged them neatly.

Then she looked at the three men.

"Good."

The first attacker swallowed.

"We told you everything."

"Yes."

"So..."

He breathed heavily.

"...You’ll let us go?"

Shen Yan stared at him.

"You tried to murder my brother."

His remaining hope vanished.

She turned away.

"What happens to you will be decided after the police receive your confession."

The men blinked. "...Police?"

Shen Yan held up a recorder.

A red light flashed.

"Your statements were recorded."

She had no intention of allowing them to escape responsibility.

But killing them immediately would be too merciful.

They would live long enough to testify.

Long enough to expose their employer.

Long enough to watch the Han Family collapse because of the evidence they had provided.

Shen Yan walked toward the warehouse exit.

Behind her... One of the men shouted.

"You can’t fight the Han Family alone!"

She stopped.

Slowly... She looked over her shoulder.

"I’m not going to fight them."

Her eyes were cold.

"I’m going to erase everything that gives them power."

. . .

The Han Family estate occupied an enormous section of the northern hills.

High stone walls surrounded landscaped gardens, private villas, security buildings, and a central mansion overlooking the city.

Armed guards patrolled the gates.

Cameras covered every entrance.

Motion sensors monitored the forest.

The estate had been designed to withstand attacks from corporations... Criminal organizations... And rival cultivators.

It had not been designed for Shen Yan.

Shortly before midnight...

A security monitor flickered.

Then another.

The estate’s camera feeds froze simultaneously.

The guards in the control room frowned.

"System error? Run diagnostics."

A technician typed rapidly.

"The network isn’t responding."

"Switch to the backup."

"The backup is down too."

The lights went out. Emergency power activated three seconds later.

In those three seconds...

Shen Yan crossed the outer wall.

Two guards discovered her near the eastern garden.

"Stop!"

She did not.

One raised his weapon.

Before he could aim...

The weapon separated into several pieces and fell from his hands.

The second guard reached for his radio.

Shen Yan appeared beside him.

"Sleep."

A precise strike sent him unconscious to the grass.

She caught him before he hit the ground.

Then gently lowered him.

They were employees.

Not decision-makers.

Not targets.

She had no interest in harming people who had no knowledge of the attack.

She continued toward the mansion.

More guards arrived.

Some tried to stop her.

Every confrontation ended within seconds.

Weapons broke.

Radios vanished.

Men woke up later with headaches and no understanding of how they had been defeated.

Shen Yan never slowed.

Inside the mansion...

Han Zhenyu sat in his private study drinking wine.

He stared at his phone.

Still no confirmation.

Still no call from the attackers.

His uncle stood near the window.

"This has gone wrong."

Han Zhenyu poured another glass.

"We don’t know that. The news reported a collision involving Shen Tian."

"And no confirmed deaths. The police blocked the highway before our people could recover the bodies. What if he is still alive!"
