"Lin Fei, are you okay?" Little Black asked with concern.

"I’m fine, I’m still holding up." Lin Fei felt dizzy, truly not expecting the drug they used on him to be so powerful, leaving his mind in a haze, far from clear. He looked towards the distant hall and sighed, "Let’s go!"

Little Black took the lead, and one man and one dragon moved continuously through the night, though Lin Fei’s head still ached. Despite this, he gritted his teeth and persevered.

"That poor Double-winged Tiger, dying just like that." Lin Fei couldn’t help but shake his head.

"It’s not dead yet, Lin Fei, this is an opportunity!"

Little Black suddenly spoke, noticing that the Double-winged Tiger still had a breath, indicating it wasn’t dead.

Lin Fei was surprised and then approached the tiger, indeed sensing a feeble breath, "It seems like it should be dead, right? Why isn’t it dead?"

"Can’t you see, Lin Fei? For a demon beast, especially one like it, it won’t die just like that. It’s just lost all hope! You saw how close it was to Zhou Ziyu before—it’s completely lost its wild nature. But what’s the result today? Zhou Ziyu abandoned it, and this demon beast has lost all hope."

"Lost hope? It can’t die?"

"Are you stupid!"

Little Black scorned Lin Fei, "It’s at the Nascent Soul initial stage, how could it die? Unless its Nascent Soul is destroyed, which it isn’t. Obviously, it’s been crushed and has lost the will to live. Don’t underestimate demon beasts; their beliefs and convictions are often stronger than humans."

Lin Fei nodded in understanding, though he was curious, "What’s your belief?"

"That’s none of your business; focus on the task at hand!" Little Black snapped at Lin Fei.

Lin Fei shook his head helplessly, looked at the Double-winged Tiger in front of him, and reached out to stroke its head, saying, "There’s no need to be disappointed now, after all..."

"Lin Fei, get out of the way! I didn’t ask you to encourage it; this is its own doing! Little Fire, come out and devour this guy’s Nascent Soul so we can proceed with our plan! You’re being too slow!" Little Black looked at Lin Fei with disdain.

Lin Fei awkwardly chuckled, "What’s wrong with that? I was only trying to give it a peaceful end, no other intentions."

"Cut it out, let’s just get it done. Hurry up, or you’ll be crying when someone shows up!"

"Heh heh, Little Black, how long have you been in the Lower Realm? You’ve already learned their slang." Lin Fei laughed, letting Little Fire out to devour the Double-winged Tiger’s Nascent Soul.

As the tiger had no intention to resist, Little Fire easily devoured it without any struggle.

"Lin Fei, remember, I learned your thoughts and mannerisms, that’s why I talk like this. Don’t think I’ve just been learning; I’m actually your representative, get it?"

"I don’t get it."

At that moment, Little Fire emerged from the Double-winged Tiger’s head and came to Lin Fei’s side. However, Lin Fei sensed Little Fire was different, as if it was about to transform.

"What’s up, Little Fire?" Lin Fei asked, feeling a strange telepathy that made him clearly sense it.

"Master, I’m going to transform!"

"Transform?"

Lin Fei was startled, "You mean you’re going to change?"

"Yes! I need to retreat for a while, it should be done soon."

Lin Fei nodded, "Alright, be careful."

"Don’t worry, Master." Little Fire said and directly entered Lin Fei’s body, quietly going into transformation.

"A blessing in disguise, I wonder what Little Fire will become. Transformation is good since it’s currently too weak to be helpful. Hopefully, after transforming, it can be of assistance." Little Dragon said.

Lin Fei smiled, "Strength might be innate, but with effort, it can definitely become greater. That’s the principle I’ve followed to become such a strong cultivator."

"Why do I not enjoy your bragging? Are you sure your strength comes from hard work?" Little Dragon looked disdainfully.

Hearing Little Dragon’s words, Lin Fei felt a bit guilty and awkwardly smiled, "Alright, I was completely ordinary at first. Through effort, I grew stronger, so what’s wrong with that?"

Little Black looked at Lin Fei in surprise and said, "Your ex-wife? You have an ex-wife? Mu Shanshan isn’t your mistress, is she?"

"You’re the mistress! What nonsense, stop blabbering and get to work!" Lin Fei retorted and checked if there was anyone in the room. Once confirming it was empty, he and Little Dragon headed inside.

Inside the hall, Lin Fei saw cages full of various-sized demon beasts, their green eyes fixed on him. Lin Fei felt troubled too, but he still spoke, "You all saw what happened today, right? Without strength, Zhou Ziyu doesn’t care about your life or death. It’s better you escape. I can open the cages for you, okay?"

Upon hearing Lin Fei, the demon beasts suddenly roared at the sky as if agreeing with the plan.

But Little Black just rolled his eyes at Lin Fei, "Idiot!"

Lin Fei was left speechless and immediately urged Little Black, "Let’s move!"

The demon beasts’ response unfortunately placed Lin Fei and his companions in a bad position, as soldiers from the City Lord Mansion started rushing over to investigate the disturbance.

"What’s happening?"

At that moment, Zhou Ziyu asked as he, too, heard the roars. He got up immediately, went outside, and questioned a soldier.

The soldier shook his head, "We don’t know either, Young Master. Suddenly, all the demon beasts started roaring, so we’re preparing to check it out."

Zhou Ziyu pushed the soldier aside, frowned, and ran towards Lin Fei’s room.

Reaching Lin Fei’s door, Zhou Ziyu knocked twice. Hearing no response from inside, he shoved the door open only to find the room empty. He quickly darted towards the main hall!

By now, soldiers were already at the hall’s entrance, but the doors were tightly shut, giving no indication of any presence within. Just then, a captain ordered a subordinate to open the doors.

The subordinate approached, trembling, knowing he had no choice due to his low rank. Obliging without complaint, he moved towards the doors.
