Chapter 1746 - 1751: Hunting Squad
"Go, chase after Lin Fei."
Master Chen Rui said, standing up and walking toward the door.
City Lord Wolf Soul remained seated, knowing it might be too late to pursue him now, especially since the messenger had already returned.
"City Lord, I’m back, and I’ve brought the demon beast materials you requested," the messenger announced.
Upon hearing this, the City Lord was taken aback, "What did you say? I told you to go to Qianhuang Peak."
"Yes, but Master Chen Rui instructed me to deliver the materials to you first before heading to Qianhuang Peak," the messenger replied.
City Lord Wolf Soul sighed, "The master is truly wise. It seems I made a mistake and need to reflect."
"Do I still need to go to Qianhuang Peak, City Lord?"
"No need. You can go and rest now." Exhausted from the emotional roller coaster, City Lord Wolf Soul felt drained, utterly drained.
"Yes, as you command!"

Lin Fei had already escaped the range of Sky Wolf City. He moved beneath the forest canopy, unwilling to use the Transmission Stone, as it couldn’t guarantee where he’d end up. If he ran all this way and teleported back, that would be laughable. He decided to follow Elder Chen Rui’s advice and only use it in an emergency.
On this journey, Lin Fei surprisingly encountered no formidable demon beasts, having emerged from the demon beast forest. It seemed the level of guards wasn’t high because the strongest demon beast he encountered was merely at the Golden Core Realm.
Suddenly, he sensed activity ahead, quickly running toward it and, upon nearing, stealthily observed people battling a demon beast in front of him.
There were about seven or eight men adorned in beast hides, wielding rusty spears, surrounding a Foundation Establishment Realm demon beast, relentlessly attacking.
The demon beast was an unwieldy giant-headed pig, not particularly easy to deal with due to its massive skull. The enormous bones on its head meant anyone knocked over by it would likely be crushed to death!
About seven or eight robust men surrounded the giant-headed pig, preventing its escape. But in its final moment, the pig went berserk, charging at one of the men, nearly hitting him, before he suddenly sidestepped, dodging the attack.
The giant-headed pig crashed into a nearby tree, causing it to sway on impact, leaving a massive scar on the trunk.
"Kill it!"
The berserk pig provided a perfect opportunity for an attack not to be missed.
Seven or eight spears thrust toward the pig’s vulnerable neck, piercing through the thick hide and fat, skewering the beast.
The pig screamed in agony, wildly thrashing, completely insane.
Seeing this, the men hastily retreated for safety, avoiding harm from the crazed giant-headed pig.
The pig finally made its last struggle and collapsed, its heavy breathing marking its imminent death.
"Great! It’s finally dead!" The men cheered, knowing the kill would feed their village for a while.
However, Lin Fei’s brow furrowed as he sensed a formidable presence approaching, drawn by the men’s shouts.
A blue bone-skinned wolf appeared, pouncing on the men, taking down one swiftly, and biting off half his body, the bloodied upper half chewed in its mouth before it swallowed him.
The remaining seven men fled in terror, but the wolf was determined to hunt them, targeting another man.
At this moment, Lin Fei couldn’t stand idly by, executing Demon Sword Breakthrough, sending nine Demon Swords hurtling toward the wolf, instantly penetrating and decapitating it.
The wolf’s eyes filled with fear, but it was dead, unable to escape.
The surrounding men, seeing the wolf had been killed, stared in astonishment at Lin Fei, unsure of his origins.
"Young hero! Thank you for saving us!" one of the men stepped forward, shouting to Lin Fei.
Lin Fei nodded and warned them, "It’s best to quickly take your prey away, or more demon beasts are bound to linger nearby."
Heeding Lin Fei’s words, the men hurriedly nodded, preparing to take the massive pig back to the village.
One of the men noticed Lin Fei readying to leave and called out, "Young hero, why not come to our village as a guest? After all, you saved our lives."
Lin Fei initially intended to decline, but hearing about the village within the forest piqued his curiosity, prompting him to join them and visit it.
Lin Fei nodded, prompting excitement and smiles among the men who buried their fallen comrade, then took the giant pig and headed to the village.
As for why they didn’t take the body, is it better buried in the mountains or taken home half? Surely even families wouldn’t want to see their father torn apart.
So, they left the body, carrying the pig away.
Following these villagers, Lin Fei arrived at the village, finding only a dozen households, surrounded by stone walls meant to ward off beast attacks. Yet Lin Fei knew these walls were futile since demon beasts were smart, not mindless.
Looking at the villagers, they appeared to respond to the noise and emerged from their homes, rejoicing at the hunters’ return, except a woman’s cries echoed as her husband wasn’t among them.
A naked child approached, about six or seven years old, asking the leading man, "Uncle, where’s my dad? Why didn’t he come back?"
The man grimly replied, "Your dad got snatched by a demon beast..."
