Chapter 1778 - 1783: There’s a Rabbit
"No need to be polite, we still have a journey ahead, so we’ll be off first. You can leave here on your own."
After saying that, Lin Fei headed into the dense forest.
The trip to Heavenly Commerce City was not great for Lin Fei. He felt the deceit and manipulation of time, including those impure relationships and unexpected events, all of which left Lin Fei somewhat surprised.
"Lin Fei, where do you plan to go next?"
"The next city, I heard it’s one of the three major cities of the Ancient Ao Empire, a place teeming with masters, and I’m kind of interested in the demon beast tournament Zhou Ziyu mentioned." Lin Fei replied.
Zhou Ziyu talked about the demon beast tournament; he’s capable of participating in it, but Lin Fei really doesn’t know what it’s all about.
"Are you planning to participate in that demon beast tournament?" Little Black asked, a bit surprised why Lin Fei wanted to join such a competition.
"I’m not sure yet, but one thing is certain: if there’s something good, why not participate?" Lin Fei said with a smile, looking at Little Black. To be exact, Little Black belongs to the Dragon Clan, a noble race, and probably there’s no Dragon Clan in the entire Ancient Ao Empire.
Now that Little Black is here, it’s different, so a trip to the Ancient Ao Empire might be fun.
However, Little Black interrupted Lin Fei’s fantasy, "Don’t even think about it; I’m not joining any demon beast tournament to be treated like a monkey."
"Why?" Lin Fei asked in confusion, why not?
"No reason, but think about it; if others discover my identity, what would the consequences be? And being watched by humans, that’s like being a monkey, and I’m no monkey, I’m a noble Dragon Clan." Little Black explained, insisting on his dignity.
"I see. Given the situation, we should just take a look first, come on, we need to pass through there anyway, so let’s hurry up." Lin Fei said, and hurried towards the distance, vanishing into the forest.
Little Black followed, but along the way, Lin Fei left many markings, carving words into trees, thinking they could last a hundred years or more, perhaps even longer in comparison, Lin Fei didn’t want them to be destroyed, but luckily, he hadn’t been idle while walking.
After three days of travel, Lin Fei finally arrived at one of the so-called three major cities of the Ancient Ao Empire. He gazed at the magnificent city before him, just the city walls towering over the City Lord Mansion of other cities.
The city appeared solid, about ten meters high, and even demon beasts couldn’t leap up and attack them; the walls surrounded by something resembling spikes, all aimed downward to prevent any citizen attacks.
That might also be the reason why Ancient Meng City has always persisted. Its law enforcement issues are one of the main reasons, indicating what? It means Lin Fei was stopped.
Everyone entering must undergo inspection, whether beggar or commoner, even royal aristocrats must be checked. Lin Fei smoothly passed the inspection and was allowed into the city.
Though simple, this demonstrated the city’s responsible attitude towards people.
Once inside, Lin Fei witnessed firsthand what vibrancy was about!
The cities he passed compared to Ancient Meng City were levels apart, differing by multiples not any less!
"This woman is truly remarkable!" Lin Fei exclaimed.
At that moment, two men appeared behind Lin Fei, both looking in their thirties. After coming up behind Lin Fei, they spoke, "Friend, why so interested in that rabbit?"
Lin Fei glanced at them and chuckled, "Is there something you need?"
"Absolutely, if you fancy rabbits, I can give you one." One man with a longer face offered.
"Give me one? Are you sure?" Lin Fei could hardly believe it, wondering if there’s a pie falling from the sky? If so, wouldn’t that be great?
"Certainly, I am sure. Just follow me, I have a rabbit just sitting idle here, it’s yours now," said the brawny man.
"Can I grill it?" Lin Fei asked the middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man paused, then bewildered, asked, "You’re taking the rabbit to grill and eat?"
"What’s wrong? Isn’t that allowed?" Lin Fei questioned.
"Sure, of course, once it’s yours, you can do whatever you please." The middle-aged man replied affirmatively.
Lin Fei nodded in satisfaction, "Great, where’s the rabbit?"
"Over there; follow me." The man said, leading the way into an alley.
Lin Fei followed the man, and just then, Little Black’s voice emerged in his mind, "You’re really going to follow them?"
"Sure, why not? If they want to trick me, I’ll trick them back, wouldn’t that be more fun?" Lin Fei replied to Little Black.
"You’re truly nuts!" Little Black threw a playful jab at Lin Fei.
Lin Fei shrugged off indifferent, sometimes a bit of relaxation is needed, so he followed the two men, walking one step ahead, leading Lin Fei into the alley.
By-passers seeing the scene shook their heads and sighed, never imagining someone would be deceived, but this is a common sight to them. These newcomers from outside tend to enjoy minor gains, leading to them being tricked.
