"City Lord... I... I’ve changed my mind!"

"Oh? It’s good that you’ve come to your senses. Tell me, what have you decided to do instead?" the City Lord asked.

Chen Xiaowu thought for a moment and said, "I would like to ask the City Lord to issue a notice to help my master find his wife and children and brothers!"

"Your master? Where is your master?" the City Lord asked, initially angered by the audacious request of this young man, but seeing that he recognized his position and corrected himself, it wasn’t so bad.

"My master is outside," Chen Xiaowu replied.

Upon hearing this, the City Lord, Feng Linwu, became quite curious about Chen Xiaowu’s master, as someone who can teach such an outstanding disciple must be quite extraordinary. So, he agreed to let Lin Fei and the others come in.

However, Lin Fei had already left by now, and Chen Xiaowu said those words clearly when Lin Fei couldn’t hear them, so he was unaware of the situation.

Upon hearing this, Feng Lin Yun’er and the old City Lord immediately entered the main hall.

City Lord Feng Linwu saw his father had come and immediately stepped down from the platform, asking, "Father, why are you here?"

Upon hearing Feng Linwu’s greeting, Feng Linyun sat on the seat above the hall and said, "We’ve been here for a while, waiting outside."

"Ah? Then why didn’t you come in?" Feng Linwu asked in surprise, full of confusion, not understanding why his father remained outside.

"Because we wanted this person to ask us to come in, but we ended up disappointed!" Feng Linyun said, looking at Chen Xiaowu.

Chen Xiaowu was overwhelmed with shame, lowering his head and not daring to say anything, understanding the fault was his; if it weren’t for him, perhaps Lin Fei wouldn’t have left!

The City Lord was naturally a perceptive person, quickly identifying the crux of the matter, and said, "And his master? Has he left? If he’s gone, just have the guards find him and bring him back, won’t that solve the problem?"

Upon hearing the City Lord’s suggestion, Feng Linyun shook his head and said, "Wu’er, we know you’re very busy, but isn’t everyone else busy too? In my view, Lin Fei is a hundred times busier than you, so you don’t need to think about bringing him back; he’s likely already left Fenglin City. The purpose of my visit today was to ask you to help Lin Fei, nothing more, so I’m leaving now."

Feng Linyun sighed, turned, and left. Watching his father’s back, Feng Linwu contemplated his father’s words and nodded, "Son understands now."

At this moment, Feng Lin Yun’er sighed and said to Chen Xiaowu, "Xiao Wu, you’ve let me down too much."

Upon hearing Feng Lin Yun’er’s disappointment, Chen Xiaowu hesitated, knowing the fault lay with him, unsure how to explain to her.

Due to a momentary greedy thought, the outcome wasn’t a joyful one; instead, it ended on a plain note.

Feng Lin Yun’er ran outside, leaving the place, with Chen Xiaowu chasing after her. Seeing this situation, City Lord Feng Linwu understood why Chen Xiaowu said those words earlier; it seemed there was more to it. However, he didn’t seem to have the time to handle this.

Meanwhile, Lin Fei had already left Fenglin City, with nothing tying him here; he could only lament human nature. He no longer believed in anything, so after leaving the city, Lin Fei looked at the massive city gate and smiled.

At this time, the soldier guarding the gate saw Lin Fei and asked, "Hey, brother, why are you leaving?"

"I’ve finished my business, so I’m leaving, preparing to leave." Lin Fei replied flatly, as if they were friends.

"Preparing to leave? Where are you headed?" the soldier asked.

"Going where I should, to a place where there are family and friends," Lin Fei responded, then turned to look at the stone walls of the massive city gate.

"Brother, what are you still looking at? Aren’t you leaving? Why aren’t you moving?" the gatekeeper asked.

"I want to leave some large characters on this city gate; I wonder if that’s okay?" Lin Fei said with a smile.

Upon hearing Lin Fei’s words, the other soldiers became cautious, saying, "Brother, what do you mean by this? You can’t cause trouble!"

Lin Fei smiled, "I won’t cause trouble."

With that, Lin Fei soared into the air, releasing his aura, displaying power close to the Nascent Soul Realm, leaving the guards feeling an overwhelming strength; they were of Foundation Establishment Realm and realized they had misjudged Lin Fei’s power!

Lin Fei was able to hover briefly, stretching out his hand, conjuring a pitch-black long sword, and inscribing several large characters at the base of Fenglin City!

"See you in a hundred years, Lin Fei leaves a note!"

The characters were full of freedom and boldness, and Lin Fei suddenly felt this method was quite good; if they wanted to erase them, it would require effort, but Lin Fei hadn’t made them too big, at least not noticeable if not looked at carefully.

For safety’s sake, Lin Fei also left two lines of words on both sides of the gate.

This made Lin Fei recall an interesting fact: travelers in the Lower Realm often liked to leave ’visited here’ marks, and wasn’t that exactly what he was doing now? A bit amusing.

After inscribing the characters, Lin Fei disappeared from Fenglin City, heading to the next town.

"Yun’er! Yun’er, wait for me!" Chen Xiaowu called out, chasing after Feng Lin Yun’er.

Feng Lin Yun’er coldly replied, "I really didn’t expect you to be such a person! I’m so disappointed; don’t follow me anymore!" Feng Lin Yun’er headed out of the city, hoping to catch up to Lin Fei, hoping he hadn’t gone too far yet!

"Yun’er, please wait for me! I know I was wrong; please forgive me. I was momentarily blinded by greed!" Chen Xiaowu pleaded.

Reflecting on it, he indeed bore a lot of responsibility; had he followed Lin Fei’s instructions, Lin Fei might not have left, and even if he did, he wouldn’t have left without a word, so in many ways, it was his fault.

"I feel very guilty too, Yun’er!"

Chen Xiaowu said; he was just an ordinary person, as ordinary as can be, and before meeting Lin Fei, nobody ever acknowledged him, even meeting Feng Lin Yun’er felt like a kindred spirits’ encounter, amplifying his sense of inferiority.

But after meeting Lin Fei, his life changed.
