Chapter 2215: Car Crash and Cliff Fall (Part 7)
Ruan Jiaojiao brought Lu Meng into the car, but on the way, she didn’t know how to start talking about Lu Xian.
Duan Xi had told her that Lu Meng was a child in his past life, and in this life, he was only five years old, with a mental capacity at that level. She feared that abruptly mentioning Lu Xian might hurt him.
Several times she hesitated to speak, but Lu Meng seemed to notice her hesitation and spoke up first from the back seat: "Aunt Jiaojiao, do you have something to say to me?"
Upon hearing this, Ruan Jiaojiao couldn’t help but sigh, finally having to discuss Lu Xian’s situation.
After saying it, she worried Lu Meng might not accept it, so she comforted him: "Xiaomeng, your dad will definitely be alright, don’t be scared."
Lu Meng shook his head: "I’m not scared. Dad said that from now on, I am the grandson of the Lu Family. If he dies, I will live in his place."
Live in his place?
What does that mean?
Ruan Jiaojiao frowned; she felt like the words sounded as if he was leaving a will ahead of time.
She turned to look at Lu Meng: "Xiaomeng, is this what your dad told you?"
"Yes." Lu Meng nodded heavily.
"When?"
"Many times, he often says it. Dad said that in the future I should replace him in being filial to grandpa and grandma."
"Why did your dad say this?" Ruan Jiaojiao still found these words strange; they sounded deliberate.
"I don’t know." This time, Lu Meng didn’t dare to look up at Ruan Jiaojiao and kept his head down.
In the dim car light, although Ruan Jiaojiao still felt something was off, she couldn’t see his expression and had to let it go. As she turned her head away, Lu Meng immediately lifted his head; his eyes seemed glued to her, reluctant to look away.
Ruan Jiaojiao was unaware, but Ruan Hao glanced at him several times through the rearview mirror. Lu Meng felt it but didn’t mind at all, continuing to stare at the back of Ruan Jiaojiao’s head.
Since it was already past five in the morning, Ruan Hao didn’t drive directly there but went to the hotel first to bring the pre-arranged breakfast from the trunk, while another part was sent over by a hotel staff in another car.
After a busy night, everyone was exhausted, hungry, and cold. When they saw Ruan Hao bringing breakfast, many felt a warmth in their hearts and devoted more effort to the search and rescue work.
While Ruan Hao arranged for others, Ruan Jiaojiao and Lu Meng each took a few portions to the tent. Zhao Li didn’t eat, so she coaxed her: "Godmother, Brother Xian is still waiting for us. If we don’t eat well and get hungry, not only will Brother Xian feel bad, but we also won’t have the strength to keep waiting."
Upon hearing this, Zhao Li ate half a bowl of porridge with tears in her eyes, while beside her, Lu Zishu also ate, but tears fell into his bowl as he did.
Seeing this, Ruan Jiaojiao’s tears also fell, and she felt a deep sadness inside.
As they were engulfed in a wave of grief in the tent, suddenly a commotion sounded from outside: "They’re coming up, they’re coming up."
Zhao Li was startled and, in the next second, dropped her bowl and ran outside, with Ruan Jiaojiao quickly getting up to follow.
"Where, where?" Zhao Li shouted and cried as she desperately pushed through the crowd.
However, when the crowd parted, they found only five people coming up. They were people that had come with Ruan Jie specifically to report the situation.
"We’ve already explored to the bottom, but below isn’t land; it’s a deep water pool. We don’t have the specialized equipment to go underwater, so we need professional diving gear and personnel now," one of them explained.
