Chapter 2214: Car Crash Off the Cliff (6)
In addition to the Ruan Family’s public vehicles, even their private ones are filled with items specifically for Jiaojiao, like small quilts and snacks, and Ruan Hao’s car is no exception.
Jiaojiao rubbed her aching temples with her fingertips and shook her head, "I can’t sleep, Big Brother. Could it be that Brother Xian might..." She couldn’t bring herself to finish the sentence. Just thinking about that possibility made her want to cry.
Ruan Hao, knowing the truth, didn’t know how to answer her. He could only reach out again and ruffle her little head.
By the time they got home, it was past four in the morning. The Ruan family house was completely dark, while the Lu family house was brightly lit, yet no one was inside. Jiaojiao called out in the living room several times and even went upstairs to search Lu Xian’s room, but did not see Lu Meng, which made her panic instantly.
Jiaojiao called out for Lu Meng, over and over, her voice choking with sobs. Lu Xian had just had an accident, and now Lu Meng was missing. How could they face Lu Xian if anything happened!
"Over here, stop howling!"
"Awuu, awuu."
In her anxiety, two voices suddenly came from the door. Jiaojiao turned her head and saw two wolves and two people standing there. Rou Rou and Xiaoxue stood at the front, Lu Meng in the middle, and Shen Ting at the back, still looking at her with that over-the-top look of disdain.
Jiaojiao’s eyes turned red, truly about to be scared to death. She ran up and grabbed Lu Meng: "Xiaomeng, you scared me to death. I thought you were missing, you..."
Before she could finish, she let go of him with a pained look and took a step back, clutching her rapidly beating heart and half-leaning against Ruan Hao’s arms.
Ruan Hao held her, full of concern: "Jiaojiao?"
Shen Ting also frowned at her.
"It’s nothing, it’s nothing, I just ran too fast and got a bit dizzy," Jiaojiao explained, shaking her head.
"You really are weak." said Shen Ting.
Usually, Jiaojiao would have retorted without hesitation, but she really wasn’t in the mood now. She looked down at Lu Meng, who gazed at her eagerly. Not daring to touch him this time, she gently asked, "Xiaomeng, will you come with Auntie?"
Lu Meng looked up, his eyes sparkling as he gave a shy smile, nodding incessantly.
Jiaojiao raised her head to look at Shen Ting, sincerely, "Thank you."
Everyone else had forgotten about Lu Meng. Thankfully, Shen Ting had taken care of him. Otherwise, if something had happened to him, neither the Ruan family nor the Lu family could have forgiven themselves.
"No need for thanks," Shen Ting said, turning around and waving a hand, "I’m off."
After Shen Ting left, Jiaojiao asked Lu Meng, "Xiaomeng, have you eaten?"
Lu Meng nodded, his eyes longingly eyeing her small hands, wanting desperately to be held again. But knowing that touching him made her uncomfortable, he had to suppress the desire and answered, "I ate at Grandpa Shen’s house."
While the little guy spoke, his big eyes blinked, and as a mixed-race child, his features were strikingly beautiful. Being so well-behaved now, when Jiaojiao looked at him, she couldn’t help but think of Lu Xian, feeling a dull ache in her heart. Unable to resist, she reached out and patted his little head, quickly retracting her hand before reacting.
Yet even just that was enough to make Lu Meng smile contentedly, his little expression even more appealing.
He looked at Jiaojiao as if looking at his most cherished treasure, catching Ruan Hao’s attention and making him glance at him several more times.
