Chapter 2109 - 919: The Last King of Darkness
Rod did not want to believe it. His thoughts were running at full speed, infinite Spiritual Energy surging out from his Soul, the ultra?Strong Source Laws blazing upon his Constellation. After Devouring all the Primordial Gods, he had already reached a height that even a Primordial Divine King could not touch.
Yet even with such overwhelming power, he still could not save humanity, could not save this universe.
No!
There must, there must still be some way!
Rod clenched his teeth, the towering Spirit crossed like lightning, the fire of the Soul flaring in the dark night of thought. Innumerable notions were born, yet not a single one was of use. He began to recall everything he possessed, his gaze sweeping over every Star within his Soul, scrutinizing every ability he owned.
He knew this was a futile struggle, yet he refused to give up—and in the next instant, his sight abruptly halted. His Inspiration was suddenly stirred; a certain indescribable shudder spread through his mind. His gaze fixed upon that shining "Constellation," upon a Star within it that he had never examined closely.
[Divine Sense]
[Overwhelming Inspiration]: Intuition, perception, Spiritual Vision elevated to the extreme.
[Madman’s Wisdom]: Consume 10,000 points of Divinity to open the wisdom of the madman, to perceive the world with a madness?driven Inspiration beyond all limits, and gain wisdom and answers from the Spiritual mist permeating the universe.
In that light?swift, fleeting instant, Rod suddenly realized that, within this never?before?used Star Soul ability, the three characters that once read "Unavailable" had vanished.
As for why they had vanished, he could only speculate: perhaps the Pollution of the eroding Spiritual mist had dissipated with Atos’s fall; perhaps this ability had been unusable only under the influence of the Will of Evil. But regardless, it could now be used, and Rod’s Intuition told him that this might reveal to him the Unique last chance.
Without the slightest hesitation, Rod poured ten thousand Divinity into that Star. As [Divine Sense] flared to life, a terrifying shudder instantly crawled up his Soul. Dense lightning?sparks exploded through his thoughts; his mind soared aloft, traversing the universe in a single moment, transforming into billions of rays of Spiritual Light. Unimaginable Inspiration poured down like a cosmic flood, like a genesis?scale explosion that inundated his mind.
As though he had lived through eons, yet also as brief as the snap of a finger, all these phenomena vanished. Only a single ray of Spiritual Light remained in Rod’s mind. It guided his sight like a spear thrust across the Starry Sky—but when his gaze locked upon it, what he saw was that familiar bubble of void.
The Dream Realm?
With a single step, Rod returned to the Dream Realm. Now the Dream Realm stretched boundlessly far; the Divine Fire atop the Obelisk blazed like a sun. Infinite Spiritual Energy gushed out of the Dream Realm, spreading through his Soul, the ultra?Strong Source Laws shining upon his Constellation. After Devouring all the Primordial Gods, he had already reached a height that even a Primordial Divine King could not touch, yet even with such overwhelming power, he still could not save humanity.
No!
It is not a matter of power.
In this moment, Rod already understood: over these billions of years, the Black Fog had long since surpassed the Sea of Source. It had corrupted the vast majority of Fragments of the Law Origin Ring, eroded the roots of the Supreme Universe, and in endless evolution had birthed unspeakable horrors. What they confronted was not some powerful corrupted individual or group, but the Supreme Universe itself, twisted and defiled. He could even feel that a stronger Collection was condensing—corrupted Law Origin Rings, Source Rings belonging to the Black Fog. They were reshaping and creating this universe from its very root, forging Source Laws to rule all things. To the Black Fog, the erosion of the Sea of Source was not important; among the billion lamps of Source Laws in the Sea of Source, each category could give birth to only a single Primordial Law. Yet the Black Fog had already transcended that rule, transcended the Source Laws themselves.
Any power drawn from the Supreme Universe could never surpass this Collection. Therefore, that Unique last chance absolutely had nothing to do with power.
Rod could clearly feel that a certain special cause lay within the Dream Realm. That strange touch permeated the very air, resonating across his Spirituality. His subconscious knew what it was, only he had never managed to recall it.
His gaze roamed through the Dream Realm, probing every creation he deemed possible. Meanwhile the Book of Knowledge still did not know what had happened, still immersed in the joy of defeating the Primordial Divine King, Devouring the entire Primordial Gods, and attaining final Victory. It threw itself upon Rod, shouting in ecstatic delight:
"Master, Master, we’ve won! We’ve defeated the Primordial Divine King, we’ve slain the root of all this, we’ve fulfilled the Lord’s will, completed the unfinished work of ancient humanity! We’ve defeated the Black Fog, become the Supreme, exalted existences! Master, I’ve already thought it through—now we shall begin recongealing the Sea of Source, recasting the Law Origin Rings, and you, Master, will be the only God upon the Law Origin Rings. The greedy and arrogant Atos refused to bear this burden, but you, great, holy, pure, mighty, grand, enduring Master, can! Under your governance, a perfect new world shall be born!"
Yet what answered it was only silence. The Master seemed to be searching for something, utterly deaf to its words.
"Master, what are you looking for?" the Book of Knowledge could not help but ask.
