Chapter 2044 - 898: Transcendence
Rod furrowed his brow, could there be a scheme hidden within the Life of Man? He couldn’t imagine how such a thing could happen.
"Asa, could there be other reasons? Like not having a Soul Blueprint, making it difficult to restore power, thus deemed of little value by the Evil Thought Stele."
Asa slightly shook his head: "I cannot be sure, this Life of Man is too abnormal, different from other Life of Man instances, my intuition tells me, if it’s not a last resort, it’s best to avoid her."
With that said, Rod’s heart also wavered a bit, but Mephit’s Source Law was so useful, whether in coldness or soul control, it could play a huge role in many instances; to just give up like this would be a real pity, plus, he very much wanted to fight side by side with Mephit again.
"Master." The Book of Knowledge suddenly said: "Perhaps we can do this, during this human’s recovery period, have Asa continuously monitor her state, predicting her future; if any uncertain danger arises, then temporarily abandon the plan, if not, continue the restoration."
Rod’s eyes lit up, he laughed: "Let’s do it that way, Asa, can you manage it?"
Asa vigorously waved the book pages: "Of course I can, with my power now, I can predict a Half King, my prophetic ability has reached an unprecedented height, of course, if the Master could find more Destiny Energy for me, that would be even better."
Rod nodded: "Don’t worry." With a thought, he left the Dream Realm.
This time, he did not find people through the Great Shepherd Leader, but went personally to the frontline, found Mephit and the Black Battle Group fighting fiercely on a secondary battlefield.
After several expansions, the Black Battle Group had nearly a thousand members, most were either Commander or Seal Lords, with only a few being Half Kings. In the past, their advancement was relatively fast, but now, their overall power had become relatively weaker.
However, they had a legendary leader, the greatest miracle of Troli and humanity; he carried countless legends, and was the only peak Half King during the Dark Epoch. Stories of his deeds could be told for days and nights without end; many new members had never seen the leader but had long mastered the stories of his exploits.
Although Rod was their leader, he almost never returned to the Battle Group. In everyone’s eyes, he was always handling matters concerning the life and death of humanity and facing the most terrifying presences in the dark, unlikely to return to such an ordinary Battle Group.
Thus, when they saw Rod’s figure, they almost couldn’t believe their eyes.
This battlefield only faced weaker Black Fog Symbionts, stronger giant Black Fog Symbionts were resisted by stronger warriors in battlefields closer to the outer layers. Here, there were no Primordial powerhouses, the spiritual energy of Black Fog Symbionts averaged around level 15. When Rod stepped onto this battlefield, just his soul field upon arrival exterminated most of the creatures.
"Rod!" a familiar voice shouted: "Is it you? How could you be here? How do you have the time to come?"
Rod turned his head and smiled: "Anna, long time no see."
Just by those words, Anna’s eyes filled with tears: "Rod, why did you come only now?"
Rod said apologetically: "I had no choice, I didn’t have the time."
He descended from mid-air, the crowd surged up, sweeping a glance, Molly, Anna, Kashan, Teresa, Mephit, and countless familiar or unfamiliar faces, all looked at the legendary leader with admiring eyes.
Molly’s eyes were filled with boundless admiration and longing: "Lord Rod, you finally return! This is your Black Battle Group; during your absence, I tried my best to manage it, following your instructions, and as per your selection, accepted more members whose aptitudes weren’t outstanding but fit your choices."
Rod smiled and nodded: "Thank you for your hard work, Molly."
"Is this the peak Half King?" Kashan looked at the Black Fog Symbionts reduced to ashes and muttered.
Teresa smiled: "Ah, it seems in my lifetime I won’t get the chance to catch up with little Rod."
Rod lightly smiled: "Don’t be discouraged, I have a feeling, we may soon fight side by side."
"Really?" Anna shouted: "I’m only a First Rank Half King, can I also battle alongside a peak Half King?"
Rod smiled and nodded, his gaze turned to the Source Stone Plate; it could not only fuse Source, enchant Spirit, but also empower Dream Realm’s Angel Envoys with powerful forces. Although he hadn’t used it yet, he had a feeling that every chosen member of the Black Battle Group was most suited to receive Dream Realm’s gifts.
Perhaps, it was precisely his intuition that led him to instinctively select these people.
"Mephit." Rod turned his gaze, looking at the familiar and graceful figure in the crowd, calling out: "Come with me, you are the next Life of Man."
Gasping sounds filled the crowd instantly, envy filled everyone’s eyes, a member muttered: "Another lucky one, just like Frank."
"So envious, to follow the leader!"
"I also want to join the leader in saving humanity!"
"When will it be my turn?"
"Stop dreaming!" taunted another: "Do you think you are a genius? That’s humanity’s redemption, the reincarnation of a strong existence from antiquity, different from birth."
