Chapter 840, Part 2 – Source
Rode felt quite frustrated.
"With so many powerful beings here, can't any of you clear the sewers?"
The chief high priest, looking a bit aggrieved, said, "The situation in the sewers is very complex. The paths are intricate, the space is narrow, and the monsters are well-hidden. Most importantly, we can't just destroy things down there. The powerful ones must restrain their strength to prevent damaging the fragile sewer walls, which could affect the Prophecy Towers above ground. We once went to great lengths to invite Lord Rhine to clear the sewers, but the result was... uh, less than ideal."
Rhine coughed.
"I got a bit lost. There were too many twists and turns, and I couldn't help but throw a punch."
A young priest nearby couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"One punch destroyed a fifth of the sewers, collapsed six Prophecy Towers, damaged over 20,000 square yards of ground, and affected 36 towers. It took us half a year to recover from the disaster..."
Rhine looked a bit embarrassed but insisted, "I wasn't the one who caused the most damage. Romano was... Anyway, I heard from a friend of Thalorian that you're the king of the sewers, with special abilities for them. Even Thalorian's giant sewers were cleared by you without a hitch..."
Rode covered his face, feeling the misunderstanding deepening.
Ignoring the Book of Knowledge, which was jumping around in the dreamscape shouting about many divine beings clearing the sewers, he explained seriously:
"Lord Rhine, High Priest, and Patriarch, I think there's been a misunderstanding. I, Rode, have nothing to do with the sewers... However, for the sake of our friendship, I'm still willing to help you."
Rhine and the High Priest immediately smiled.
A priest shouted, "The Prophecy Towers need a constant supply of prophecy water and purification liquid to ensure the efficient operation of our core crystal prisms. If the sewers are blocked, our efficiency drops significantly."
Another priest brought over a full set of sewer blueprints and various professional tools for clearing them.
"Take them away, take them away. I don't need these things."
Rode pushed them aside irritably and jumped into a nearby hole.
The high priests were left looking at each other in confusion.
"Lord Rode, he's gone?"
Rhine nodded solemnly. "Trust him. Lady Olivia once told me that when Lord Rode returns to the sewers, it's like a fish returning to water, a bird flying to the sky, a king sitting on his throne."
The high priests exchanged glances, all finding it hard to believe.
