The Magus of Genesis

Episode 8: Corpse Ghost/Ghoul

"I'm here, too!

With a pleasant voice, the red hair twitches, and the stone sword embedded with obsidian swings.

Then, as if magically, the sore throat disappeared.

How the hell did you do that with a big swinging stone sword blade that doesn't even have a cut? Yuka was getting rid of the head of the winged snake that snuck into my throat.

"Wow, what's this?"

Yuka looks away at the winged serpent, who whines his teeth out of his sword.

Behind it, the armored bear waves his nails, pulling Nina's created crawl apart with a butch.

"Mr. Yuka, after............! Ro…………."

Ala tried to make a warning scream, and it stood up and disappeared in the butt blur. When Yuka waved the stone sword without turning around, the body of the armored bear was torn apart.

"Um, you're not gonna die this far."

Yuka moves on as she slaps and folds the fangs of an armored bear that flies just in her face. Because of Nina's entry into Tia's treatment, one after another the carcasses broke out of the bondage of the crawl and hit Yuka.

"Doctor."

Ala comes closer to me and speaks up.

"I don't know what's going on."

"Rest assured."

I looked like a teacher and answered that confidently.

"I have no idea either"

Yuka's steps are so unmade, they look full of gaps to the amateur. I lean my neck when I peek into the carcass for a moment, and I think about it, as if I was even window shopping.

Yet the claws and fangs of the countless beasts that strike her are as if they were untouched by her body, falling apart every time.

Speed out of sight, then I might have understood. But I see roughly all Yuka's movements. It's so plain that she thinks maybe I can do that, too, that she sends an attack, sets it up as if she were just going to put down her sword and trump the beasts.

Because of the amount of carcasses that are rotting, there must be tendons and bones.

"Hey brother, what am I supposed to do with this?"

But even she frowned and looked at me like she was in trouble.

The beasts cut in pieces, but stuck their hands and feet together as if they were clay craftsmen, striking Yuka again.

"Hmm. Come on."

Yuka's gaze is sharp for a moment. In the next moment I wondered, the armored bear had turned into countless pieces of flesh as if it had also been finely cut.

"Wow, that made me feel extra sick!

But no. Shatter it to the point that it sticks to each other and restores it. But that doesn't mean it can be fixed. The pieces of meat gather together as if they were hamburger seeds, just roughly shaped like beasts. It was a huge chunk of meat, no longer knowing what creature it was originally.

"…… Not good, Doctor."

Innis pulled the couch over to me and told me to whisper.

"Even Mr. Yuka can't defeat you, can he?

So far, there's nothing disturbing about Yuka's movements. No matter how much you are attacked, you appear to be endangering and truncating the attack. But she will eventually be tired of enemies who will not stop moving no matter how much they cut. Before that happens, I need to think of something.

"…… Something is caught."

I said with my eyes narrowed.

"Something… seems to be missing something very, very simple"

Fire probably won't work. All that dust, it moves, it would be the same as ashing your whole body. If it moves the same way when it comes to ashes, that's the only thing I can't get my hands on. Even Yuka can hold it back because it still has shape, and it can be avoided.

He can't even defeat Yuka, and Tia is the kind of person who gets hurt badly.

Cut, poked or crushed, it goes right back to normal, and it's no use burning or freezing it...

"…… Wait."

I realised hah and turned to Nina.

"Nina. How's Tia doing?

"... it's okay. It's not as bad as it looks. I'm only worried if I won't get sick from such an unclean beast... but the leprechaun is unusually resistant to the disease, so maybe she'll be fine."

Wiping the sweat, Nina quickly wraps a bandage around Tia's body. Tia, wrapped in a bandage for humans, quickly became like a mummy.

"Tia, I'm sorry I'm hurt, but can you let me ask you one thing?

"Go ahead."

Can't even afford to slap the usual hatred on the boulder, Tia says honestly while sitting tight on Ruffle's hand.

"Why did you get hurt like that?

"…… I was alarmed."

To my question, she looks up.

"No way, because I didn't think my hidden form would work at all"

I knew it, right!

"Thanks! I might be able to figure it out."

"Huh? Why would you do that if you exposed me to my shame?"

I laughed gladly at Tia, who swelled her cheeks in a grumpy mood. Looks like she's feeling better, too.

"Yuka! Maybe I figured out how to knock it down!

"Sasasu is your brother! So, what am I supposed to do?

There are three types of things that can see through Tia's hidden form.

The first is light. Her hidden form, which makes no noise or smell, appears shadowed when illuminated by strong light.

The second is Yuka. Ever since she was a child, she sees Tia's hidden form in a glance for some reason.

And the third is the Spirit. Hidden shapes do not work on the Spirit, which is magic itself.

"Of the beasts, cut my belly off!

But the carcasses in front of us clearly have flesh. Spirits don't bleed when cut, and even a rotten smell like meat. I smell it because I have a body.

"Hang up."

At the same time Yuka screamed, the bellies of the carcasses… or the places that appeared to be bellies were mutilated simultaneously.

"O ye that dwell in the doomed flesh, and the blacks that move the wreckage! Get away from that vessel!

I know those things exist.

"Your name is Ghoul!

As soon as I called the name, something like black fog erupted from the bellies of the carcasses.

It's obsessive, and gradually when it forms, it takes on the look of a person.

Is it about a meter tall?

It's like a black shadow and the outline is unclear, but it's a ghost-like, people-shaped spirit.

"Yuka! Drop your neck!

"Ha ha!

I wondered if a ray of red wind had blown through, and in the next moment all the gools were dropped on their necks and misted like smoke.

Ghoul. In my previous life, in the time I lived, it was the name of a demon who had established himself as a kind of ghost eating corpse meat that came out of RPG, but originally a kind of spirit that came out of the Arabian heritage.

The demon god, better known as Jin in the Spirit of the Lamp... the lowest of them, says it attaches badly to the body. This is Ghoul.

Ghoul is highly immortal, and no matter how cut he is, he will not die, but only his belly cannot be regenerated. But after I cut my belly, he said if I cut my belly again, it would regenerate. That's why I told Yuka to decapitate me.

Of course I don't necessarily have the same weaknesses, abilities, as a ghoul in my knowledge, but it must have become similar in nature at the time I named it a ghoul.

When the gools disappeared, the carcass collapsed and stopped moving.

"Did you manage..."

When I go back to being a person, I sit on the spot and exhale deeply.

As soon as I had forgotten my throat was scratched and sore.

"Look, let me see you, too"

Nina, who has already finished treating Ruffle, pulls my jaw and turns a serious eye.

... If you look closely like this, you're a beautiful girl. While I was being treated for the wound, I got shabby and blurry when I saw Nina's face and thought that.

I've been completely paralyzed because I usually see it all the time, but when I look at it again, Nina is an amazing beauty. The once unsatisfactory lurks a lot, and instead, I feel that the grown-up beauty has increased and it has become very beautiful.

Well, part of my body hasn't grown much in the end.

"Stop!"

"Ugh."

As if she had read the thought, Nina slaps me abusively after the procedure. That sounded direct to the wound, and I groaned.

"Nina......"

"What?"

There was resentment. Sending her gaze, Nina looked at me with her grumpy eyes. Oh, this is my eye when I'm serious and angry. Not much change in expression, but I can tell. They still read my thoughts on how.

"Nothing, thank you"

"Nothing."

Thankfully, she turned to her nose, sounding bored.

"Than that...... monster now. You're from that forest?

"Yeah. I was going to cut a tree in this forest, and I came down with Tia today. Then suddenly an aunt came out of the woods..."

To Ruffle's words, Nina makes her expression rude. The reason for this was clear to me.

"Ruffle. Sorry, but with the Alas, can you mourn them for me?

"Yeah. Okay."

Referring to the carcasses of the animals scattered around him, Ruffle nods honestly, albeit with a slightly strange face.

"Well, shall we?"

Looking back, Nina and Yuka nodded with a hard look.

Maybe they both have a faint idea of what's going on.

The three of us split into the woods and walk down a consolidated path.

"Oh......"

And I accidentally leaked my voice to the sight that spread.

A few minutes from the woods were some cabins.

- And it was several men and women, lying in a pile of blood.

He must have been attacked by Ghoul earlier than the Ruffles.

I don't have to take a pulse to check, I'm out of breath.

I thought so, but when Nina knelt in the blood build-up, she began to touch each of them to confirm her life and death.

"Nina......?

"Find Survival"

With a resolute expression, she says.

I can't imagine anyone surviving this tragedy.

"Okay."

But I answered and snorted at Yuka.

Unlike Nina, I'm not as good at medicine as I am, but I still know if people are alive or dead. Each one of you will see if you have even a few breaths left.

I knew people lived in these woods. But I don't even know their names.

Until just about a hundred years ago, that didn't happen. I remember all the faces and names of people born and dying in the village of Hiiro, and I have always watched over its life and death.

But is it from around where the Spirit began to spread? Life was exceptionally stable than ever before, and the village grew in size with a much larger influx from other races.

Nina's apprentice also grew up one after the other as a doctor, and Nina never took all her children away.

Though it was a little lonely, I also thought it was something I had no choice about.

- However.

I'll gently close the red eyes of the body in fear.

Red hair and red eyes are the hallmark of the sword. They may also have been distant from Yuka.

I don't even know that anymore.

I couldn't wait to be sad that I couldn't figure it out for you.

"There he is……!

It is such a fold that Nina's scream was heard.

"He's alive! This girl's alive!

What she was holding back was so little a baby that she still wouldn't even sit on her neck.

The body is too small and weak. I still can't see much.

But... the baby, who sleeps easily, is, without a doubt, alive.
