Chapter 1220 - 539: I Think the First Sip of Mineral Water After Waking Up Thirsty at Midnight Is the Most Authoritative
"There’s something really off about our exam room.
During the past two days of exams, that unfamiliar Old Deng who’s supposed to be patrolling has gone so far as to station himself directly in our exam room, and he’s frequently swapping places with our original invigilator.
Even in the break between two exams, there’s inexplicably always a teacher coming to hang out in our exam room. You get it, it’s like our room is being continuously monitored by at least six teachers."
Who can put up with this constant rotation? We’re practically puffed up like cream puffs. What did we do wrong to be treated like this, darn it—"
"If all the invigilators are male, then I can accept it!"
Wang Ze raised his hand to speak.
Wang Ze anticipated a response.
Wang Ze was ignored.
"Lin Li, I might have some clues regarding this issue. I think you should ask that student Lin Li in your exam room. Plus, he has a homeroom teacher named Xue Jian; perhaps they might know something." Bai Bufan remarked with concern.
Lin Li shrugged with a smile, feigned helplessness as he shrugged his shoulders, rubbed his nose with a bitter smile, scratched his head in bewilderment... After a series of classic protagonist moves, he finally chose to give Bai Bufan a kick.
It’s Thursday afternoon, or rather evening.
The end-of-semester exams have officially been going on for two days already, and we’re halfway through. Only the last three subjects are left.
A group of students is making their way from the dormitory to the classroom, ready for the final evening study session of the semester.
"By the way, Bufan, is anyone cheating in your exam room? Got any gossip?"
After kicking Bai Bufan, Lin Li casually inquired.
During the two days of exams, Exam Room No. 6, apart from being under special attention by invigilators and patrol teachers, had nothing particularly noteworthy happening.
Perhaps it’s precisely because the teachers are observing so closely that Lin Li hasn’t noticed any cheating behavior. The system is as dead asleep as a husband in an adult film, completely inactive.
Seeing as the mountain won’t come to me, I’ll just have to go to the mountain.
So Lin Li thought about asking around to see if other exam rooms had any cheating. If there was, he could try witnessing it firsthand after submitting his paper early, see if he could actively trigger a mission to add some excitement to the otherwise dull exam journey.
"There should be," Bai Bufan mused, while dusting off the footprints on his backside and contemplating, "but I haven’t paid attention. I haven’t cheated in years, so I don’t concern myself much with these disturbances. I’m busy assessing my imagination."
As the saying goes, in exams, you either rely on strength, eyesight, or imagination.
As for Bai Bufan, strength is insufficient, eyesight is not preferred, so when faced with questions he doesn’t know, it’s an imagination challenge.
Qin Zeyu suddenly interjected from the side:
"System detected a violation, your account is suspended for 3650 days under the user agreement. [G.T.I. Special Ops]."
"Bufan, guess who received this message, Bufan, guess why I’ve been fined 13 million?"
"That’s not cheating,"
Bai Bufan retorted dismissively, not ashamed:
"It’s the Delta being too overzealous. Back when we used cheats on APEX, my teammates always praised me for being a green player, saying APEX hadn’t seen such purely passionate players like us for a long time. Alas, Tencent, alas, the invisible hand."
"That’s pretty green."
Amidst their playful banter, they arrived at the teaching building.
Slightly different than usual, the corridors, overhead walkways, at the foot of the stairs, even outside the art building... chairs were placed together everywhere, either occupied or temporarily vacant.
Once the evening study session starts, these tables and chairs will refresh with students from various classes, either reading and quizzing each other openly, or ostensibly studying while actually chatting the evening away.
About the dim corridor lighting, some simply don’t care, while others fetch desk lamps from their dorms.
In scenarios like this, the school generally supervises less the closer to the end.
The principle does require students to quietly review in the classroom, but if the principle doesn’t come to supervise, then it’s fairly unrestrained.
Class Four is no exception.
Lin Li has already lost all motivation for revising, and finds more freedom and enjoyment outside, so last night he was studying on the overhead walkways with a few people.
Wang Ze was even more straightforward and directly took Qian Ying to the art building to "study" together last night.
Lin Li and Bai Bufan were concerned Wang Ze and Qian Ying would turn into "students learning about childbirth," and not learning how to have children, so they stealthily tailed them. But at least during the period they were spying, the two were pretty well-behaved, which was a bit disappointing.
It might have been because Wang Ze had noticed them.
After the fact, when Wang Ze confronted them, Lin Li and Bai Bufan forthrightly declared that they were worried about Wang Ze "caring too much for a loved one."
Ladies and gentlemen, Wang Ze may care too much for a loved one, but cannot care too much for a loved one.
Especially in this time and place.
Wang Ze was astonished and sent Lin Li and Bai Bufan away.
"Those crows have such shiny feathers, so cool."
"Not bad, so what shall we chat about tonight? I’ve already got several topics lined up.
For example, which has more authority: day-old garlic blossom or freshly made sweet-and-sour pork? Or is it the first sip of soda after choking on a hamburger, or the first sip of iced sour plum drink after burning with hotpot spice? And the authority of cool air entering a room in summer versus the warmth of a quilt in winter?"
