Chapter 115: The Meeting
Being suddenly attacked by his two old teammates, Lucian was immediately at a loss for words because they were completely right.
Among the four of them, Mr. Wolf was the oldest, with Lucian being the second oldest. Lucian was forty-seven years old this year, while Rock was only forty, and Mira was just thirty-four.
Their ages were so far apart, yet they could still get along with each other, which was quite rare. Perhaps it was because their levels of strength were similar, so it was easier for them to understand each other? Or perhaps going on dungeon raids together so many times had naturally made the bond between teammates stronger.
"What is this? I’m only ten minutes late, so how come the meeting room has already turned into a market for the three of you?"
Just as the three of them were about to have a huge argument because they had too much free time, Bell casually walked in through the main door. His attitude was so relaxed, as if making everyone here wait for fifteen minutes was nothing at all.
"Bell!"
The moment Bell spoke, the three of them, who had just been annoyed with each other, suddenly united and shouted straight at him.
"Hey, don’t yell so loudly, it hurts my ears."
Bell picked his ear while pouting. He was an S-rank hunter now, not the little brat he used to be, so why would he have to be afraid of the three of them?
"Lailah, don’t mind them. Come sit down."
His arrogant attitude suddenly turned one hundred and eighty degrees when he looked toward Lailah. He even pulled out the chair reserved for his father for her to sit on.
"Is this really okay?"
Although Lailah was using a mortal body without any power, she could still tell that the other three were looking at her with eyes that seemed to be on fire.
"Don’t worry. If I say it’s okay here, then it’s okay."
Bell patted his chest confidently. This action was no different from slapping his three seniors straight in the face.
"Then that’s fine."
Lailah was an angel with a very kind temperament, but that did not mean she would be wary of mortals who were stronger than her. Since Bell said it was okay, she happily sat down.
"Wait! What do you think you’re doing? That’s your father’s chair. But that’s not important. What does she know to be coming in here? She isn’t even a hunter."
If Lailah were an A-rank hunter or higher, no one would have a problem with Bell sticking close to her all the time. But the fact that she was an ordinary person made everyone feel uncomfortable.
Actually, they all still liked Bell very much, so they had looked for a chance to help Lailah awaken her ability and see if anything useful would come out of it. But both Bell and Lailah refused without the slightest hesitation, making everyone feel like the two of them were crazy.
There were countless people in this world who wanted to awaken but had no money, yet Lailah flat-out refused this opportunity without even frowning once. Aside from Mr. Wolf, who was well-informed enough to guess her identity, the others all had the same narrow-minded thoughts.
"Lucian is right. This is a secret. She shouldn’t hear it."
Mira nodded along with Lucian. She didn’t have much of a good impression of Lailah either. After all, the two of them hadn’t had many chances to interact because Bell wouldn’t let anyone get close to her.
"Hmph, secret my ass. Even if she didn’t come, I would’ve told her anyway."
Bell pouted and turned a chair around before sitting down. His careless posture made it look like he was out somewhere having fun rather than attending a serious meeting.
"I could understand if you brought your girlfriend here. But why bring her here? Mia is at least a B-rank hunter."
Rock’s straightforward mind would of course say it directly instead of beating around the bush. Compared to the unfamiliar Lailah, who no one knew where she had come from, Mia was still more trustworthy.
"I’ve already left her waiting downstairs for a long time. There’s nothing for her to do here anyway."
As Bell answered, downstairs, Mia sneezed and frowned as she looked around. She felt like someone had just badmouthed her.
"Damn it, why does everyone keep looking at me with that weird look? Lailah isn’t even Bell’s girlfriend, okay?"
Although Mia was annoyed with Lailah, she had gotten to interact with Lailah a little more than the others, so she understood her a little better.
Lailah’s personality was so kind that Mia couldn’t even bring herself to stay annoyed with her. It was just that she still couldn’t understand why Bell treated Lailah like his little ancestor.
In the meeting room, the messy situation was quickly settled. After all, it wasn’t good to keep wasting the time of dozens of people just to argue.
"Now, let’s be serious. Anyone who says anything stupid again, get out of the room."
Lucian put on a serious face as he looked at everyone. Naturally, they all nodded seriously in response, and Lailah was no exception.
Although Lailah didn’t care about the plans of mortals at all, since Bell had brought her here, she would just sit and stay. Besides, she just sat there quietly sucking on a lollipop without saying a single word to bother anyone.
"Alright. Mr. Wolf sent me a report. Take a look at it yourselves, and then we’ll continue."
The moment Lucian finished speaking, a report was sent to the tablet in front of them. The more everyone read, the wider their eyes became, especially Bell.
"Are you kidding me? That useless Mark guy actually got targeted by an SS-rank monster or maybe even something higher? First Nexus, and now this. Is he unlucky or lucky?"
Bell was so shocked that he lost his mind and dropped the tablet when he read all these ridiculous pieces of information. As for the future direction of the Wolf Guild, he didn’t care. He was an S-rank hunter, so even if the guild’s operations went badly, as long as he was still around, it couldn’t collapse. Not to mention, his father was also an S-rank.
Why could Bell still remember things even though the system had changed everyone’s memories? This had to do with Bell being the first person to help Nexus, and on top of that, he had an angel by his side, so he was given special treatment.
Lailah would definitely still remember everything. Although the body she was using was a mortal body, her soul was an angel. The system wasn’t stupid enough to do something as dumb as trying to alter an angel’s memories.
