Chapter 110: Impossible to Treat
Mr. Wolf’s guess really sounded ridiculous, but it was barely believable when applied to this situation.
Peter knew more information than everyone else, so he also thought it made a lot of sense. The strange recovery ability that had helped Mark was most likely from the system or Nexus.
But why would the master throw her disciple here alone with a pile of corpses? No matter how he thought about it, Peter couldn’t understand the meaning behind this action of Nexus.
The more he looked at Mark’s miserable condition, the more Peter thought of his adorable White. If she were taught by a crazy existence like Nexus, wouldn’t the person lying there barely alive in the future be her?
Although White had been seriously injured when raiding dungeons before, these were two different things. One was caused by fighting monsters, while the other was caused by an unscrupulous master. Compared between the two, Peter naturally hated the second one more.
When we return, I must remind White to stay away from her master. The farther away, the better. Never meeting again for the rest of her life would be fine too.
Peter thought to himself and planned to quickly finish this matter and return to continue observing White’s cultivation.
"Does anyone with a healing ability have such a messed-up mind?"
Emily’s eyelids twitched. Having a healing ability was good, but you should at least have some medical ethics. In her opinion, treating someone so badly just to prolong their suffering like this made the owner of the ability look more like a monster than a human.
"Why are you looking at me? I’m just guessing. Besides, according to my analysis, this F-rank hunter kid was brought into the dungeon by someone without having to go through the gate."
Mr. Wolf shrugged and looked at Peter. He immediately noticed that Peter was very unusual, as he wasn’t surprised at all like the others.
He felt like Peter seemed to know some kind of secret, but this was understandable. After all, Peter was the chairman of the Hunter Association, so it made perfect sense for him to know more than a guildmaster.
"Got it. There’s no point in continuing to guess now. There’s nothing wrong with these corpses, so call someone to bury them. Emily, quickly save that kid and ask him if he knows anything."
At first, Peter thought the problem was related to the corpses being teleported outside, but after figuring out Mark’s identity, his thoughts changed.
Judging from the condition of Mark’s body and these people, it was very obvious that they had fought monsters much stronger than themselves.
These people must have died while protecting Mark, so Nexus simply brought them outside along the way, nothing more.
Cerberus did use dark energy on these people, but he had erased the traces. This time, he came to this dungeon completely by chance and had no intention of doing anything big enough to shake the world.
"Got it."
Emily nodded, and a teapot suddenly appeared in her hand. She simply poured the tea straight into Mark’s mouth, regardless of whether he would choke or not.
"Cough cough cough..."
The taste of the tea was so ’abstract’ that Mark immediately woke up from his daze and coughed violently as if he wanted to throw it all up but couldn’t.
Because he had gone blind, Mark had no idea what was happening anymore. His nose could only smell Emily’s strange tea and the scent of fresh blood.
Mark opened his mouth to speak, but then realized that he couldn’t make any sounds and could only let out unclear groans.
"What the heck? You still can’t talk?"
Emily frowned and once again poured tea into Mark’s mouth. Although he didn’t want to, Mark could only lie flat now, so the tea was forced down his throat as if he had no choice but to swallow it.
Her powerful healing ability spread throughout Mark’s body and... Well, it didn’t help at all.
Nexus wanted Mark to experience the pain he had to pay for using an ability beyond what his body could endure, so naturally she wouldn’t let him recover completely.
Mark now knew that someone was near him, but his ears had gone deaf, so naturally he had no idea what Emily was trying to do.
Because the tea’s healing effect had been completely nullified by Nexus, Mark could only feel the tea’s ’abstract’ taste. He even thought someone wanted him to drink chemicals or, worse, some kind of strange waste to torture him mentally.
"What kind of joke is this? Why isn’t my ability working? Mr. Wolf, Peter, you two try my tea and see if there’s anything wrong with it."
Emily’s brows furrowed tighter and tighter. She had never encountered such a strange situation in all these years.
Her A-rank ability was definitely not fake. Emily was sane enough to know that she hadn’t spent more than a decade dreaming about becoming a hunter.
"You drink it yourself."
Peter and Mr. Wolf refused in unison. Emily’s tea was too ’famous’, and unless they were injured or had run out of energy, no one wanted to drink it.
"What’s with those disgusted faces? What do you two know about tea that you dare look down on mine?"
The obvious look of disgust on their faces made the veins on Emily’s forehead bulge. If her combat power weren’t so low, she would have beaten them both, tied them up, and forced them to drink tea until they praised it.
"You still haven’t realized it? Your ability has been blocked by some kind of much higher-level ability. Even I can’t clearly detect it, so that ability is definitely at least SS-rank."
Seeing the topic starting to go off track, Peter said seriously.
"Are you two kidding me? Then what’s the point of me coming here?"
After hearing that, the corner of Emily’s mouth twitched. She was only an A-rank, so how could these two bastards expect her to overcome an SS-rank?
"Don’t look at me like that. I really didn’t know there was a problem like this either. In this situation, we can only temporarily put Mark in the hospital for a while and see if he recovers."
Mr. Wolf shrugged, his eyes looking toward Mark’s body, which was almost like that of a vegetable.
