The Only Cultivator in a World of Hunters

Chapter 109: Emily’s Surprise

As a self-proclaimed tea expert, Emily absolutely hated it when someone doubted her expertise. If it hadn’t been Peter who said it, she would have already rolled up her sleeves and started a fight.

"We’ll talk about it later. First, let’s go to Mr. Wolf’s place."

Emily could throw a tantrum, but not now. Since they were in a hurry, Peter directly grabbed her by the collar and threw her onto the helicopter.

The helicopter immediately took off without waiting for her to fasten her seat belt because making an A-rank hunter accidentally fall out of a helicopter was extremely difficult.

"You damn old man! How dare you do that to me?"

As a veteran hunter, being treated like a child naturally made Emily immediately lose her temper.

What did she do when she got angry? Fight Peter head-on? No, no, no. She had a much more practical way of showing her annoyance.

Emily grabbed Peter’s long beard and yanked it hard. Of course, she couldn’t pull it off because the body of an S-rank hunter wasn’t so easy to injure.

"Hahaha, sorry. We’re in a hurry, so we don’t have time to wait for you to stand there and complain. Now we do, so say whatever you want."

Sorry, this sounded more like a joke than a sincere apology. Thirty-five years old, although she was already quite old, to Peter, she was still just like a granddaughter.

"Hmph, bullshit!"

Emily pouted, crossed her arms, and turned her face away. She looked no different from a child throwing a tantrum and refusing to look at the adults.

Once she threw a tantrum, she had to stay silent for a long time; otherwise, she’d become a laughingstock herself. So she kept that pose until they arrived at Mr. Wolf’s place.

The place was also quite close, so Emily didn’t need to keep that pose for too long before she heard the pilot announce.

"We’re here. You two, jump down."

There was no landing pad here, so of course they had to jump down from the helicopter. Although this action was extremely stupid for ordinary humans, for A-rank and S-rank hunters like the two of them, it was completely normal.

"We’re here, and you’re still planning to ignore me? With a temper this bad, no wonder you’re thirty-five and still don’t have a boyfriend."

Seeing her act like a child made Peter feel like laughing. The boyfriend thing was obviously a joke, because Emily was just like White, and besides, her obsession with tea was a huge obstacle.

"Hmph, I only need tea. I don’t need any boyfriend."

Emily snorted, jumped out of the door, and gently landed on the ground. If they weren’t busy with work right now, she definitely would have argued with Peter instead of letting things end so easily.

Pink energy gathered on Peter’s fingertip. He jumped down while lightly touching the body of the helicopter, creating a pink rope.

The rope stretched out and canceled out most of the force, allowing Peter to land with an extremely light and graceful manner that suited a powerful old man perfectly.

"Mr. Wolf, what exactly happened?"

The moment he appeared, Peter immediately got down to business because he knew this wasn’t the time for small talk.

"The corpses were moved out of the dungeon. There are monsters inside the dungeon that are much stronger than what was reported. You will understand once you see it yourself."

Mr. Wolf spoke while making room for Peter to see the situation. As a ’minor’ character like Emily, she could only silently follow behind Peter.

Seeing the horrifying sight of blood-covered, mangled corpses from more than a dozen dead bodies, Peter frowned slightly. He had seen much more horrifying scenes thirty years ago, so he frowned because he was analyzing the situation, not because he was afraid or disgusted by the corpses.

Emily didn’t have as much experience as Peter, but she wasn’t a rookie either. Seeing this pile of corpses, she immediately frowned and looked at Mr. Wolf.

"They’re all dead already, so why did you call me here? Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to call a funeral service?"

I’m an A-rank hunter too, you know! Are you guys treating me like a joke just because you’re S-rank? Interrupting my research on a new tea brewing formula for absolutely no reason. What is that supposed to mean?

In her mind, Emily was cursing both Mr. Wolf and Peter. She really wanted to open her mouth and curse them out, but doing that here would be bad for everyone’s image that they had built over many years.

"Don’t look at me like that. Can’t you see that F-rank kid is barely hanging on? With injuries this severe, anything below A-rank healing abilities won’t be of any use."

Not wanting Emily to misunderstand him, Mr. Wolf immediately pointed toward Mark. He didn’t want to make an enemy for no reason with an extremely talented A-rank hunter with healing abilities who could save his life in the future.

The others didn’t dare approach to pull Mark out. Although Mr. Wolf could do it, there was no need, so he didn’t. Mark had been lying there among the corpses of his teammates this whole time.

"Huh? That’s strange..."

As a professional healer, the moment Emily saw Mark’s seemingly dying physical condition, she immediately noticed that something was wrong.

She didn’t care whether there was any danger ahead and brazenly walked straight toward where Mark was lying to examine him.

"Heart, lungs, blood vessels, bones, other organs... How can the inside be this healthy after being beaten into this state? What the hell? His muscles are completely destroyed, but not even a single blood vessel is ruptured?"

Emily didn’t need any medical equipment to check so many things. If she couldn’t do that, she wouldn’t be an A-rank healer.

The more she examined him, the wider her eyes became. She kept muttering like that, so of course everyone could hear her. Their expressions were naturally not much different from hers.

All the A-rank hunters here had been through countless battles. They had suffered injuries so many times that they could easily understand just how absurd Mark’s physical condition was.

"Hm... It sounds a little ridiculous, but I think some kind of powerful healing ability saved Mark. But the person who used that ability has something wrong with their head, so they healed some places but not others." Mr. Wolf gently stroked his beard and said.
