Chapter 108: Emily
In the chairman’s office, Peter looked like he was working, but in reality, his eyes were glued to the screen to keep an eye on White.
If someone happened to see him, they might mistake him for a perverted old man who liked peeping at young women because of how intently he was staring.
For the past few days, White had just been sitting cross-legged and cultivating. Each spiritual herb floated in the air, letting her slowly drain every bit of energy from it.
The cultivation technique and spiritual root greatly increased White’s efficiency in absorbing spiritual herbs. She could almost absorb all the energy, with only a small amount being lost.
Before this, White had absorbed spiritual herbs too, but she didn’t eat them. It was more like taking a bath.
Of course, not in a bathtub or swimming pool, but in a special chamber designed to keep the energy from the spiritual herbs for as long as possible.
This way, the energy would seep into every corner of her body, but the amount of energy lost was much greater than the amount successfully absorbed.
Naturally, there were no problems with White’s absorption of the spiritual herbs. After all, the cultivation technique Nexus had given her was the best in the universe, so there was no way anything could go wrong.
There were even fewer problems outside. Peter protected her so well that even if a bunch of nuclear bombs exploded at the Hunter Association headquarters right now, White wouldn’t be disturbed.
Even though he had prepared everything so carefully, Peter was still worried because he didn’t understand a damn thing about cultivation. Precisely because he didn’t know, he had been staring at the computer screen like this for the past few days and leaving Ziz to wreak havoc throughout the headquarters.
"Chairman! Chairman! Chairman..."
The urgent shouting and continuous pounding on the door immediately interrupted Peter’s ’peeping’, making him unhappy.
Was there really anything more important than White right now? They were all professionals, so why were they in such a hurry as if the apocalypse was about to come?
Of course, even though he thought that, Peter wouldn’t say it out loud. After all, he was the chairman of the Hunter Association, so he couldn’t just say whatever he wanted.
"Come in."
Peter pressed a button, and the automatic door opened. The hunter outside didn’t even step inside before hurriedly shouting.
"Mr. Wolf said he needs your help, and you have to bring an A-rank hunter or higher with healing abilities."
"Where? Is there any A-rank hunter with healing abilities nearby who can be dispatched immediately?"
Peter immediately became serious. If it was really something serious, he naturally had to deal with it seriously. Although White was important too, this was at least an SS-rank matter, so he couldn’t take it lightly.
"I checked already. It’s the last dungeon Miss White entered before going on vacation. As for the A-rank hunter needed, Emily is currently free at headquarters."
Emily was a hunter who focused mainly on recovery and healing abilities. Although she didn’t have overwhelming power to the point where she could take on every role like White, she could restore other people’s energy very well.
During dungeon raids, she could be considered a mobile mana potion that could restore energy and stamina extremely quickly. The downside was that she had to be protected because she was much easier to take down compared to other A-rank hunters.
"Huh?"
When he learned that the problem occurred in the dungeon White had visited not long ago, Peter, who had been serious just moments ago, immediately became confused.
Wasn’t that place where Nexus and his first disciple were? If someone of that level existed inside, what problem could possibly happen?
Peter’s sudden change in attitude left the hunter stunned. He had just been serious, so why did he suddenly become like this after hearing more information?
"Is there a problem, sir?"
"No. Nothing. Prepare the helicopter and get Emily here quickly."
After going over everything in reverse once again, Peter felt that this was indeed a major problem. Based on White’s description of Nexus’s personality, he definitely wouldn’t take the initiative to become a hero who saved the world or a destroyer who destroyed it.
If what White knew was correct, then this unusual incident wasn’t caused by Nexus being the mastermind. If it wasn’t Nexus, then the only possibility left was hell, which had started making major moves again after all these years.
Peter’s chairman’s office was on the top floor, so it was very close to the helicopter landing pad. So he went there and waited for Emily for about five minutes.
A girl with a green ponytail wearing sportswear looked like a very energetic person. Of course, that was just an intimidating appearance because her combat ability wasn’t even as good as a B-rank hunter.
Her appearance made people mistake her for a girl who was barely twenty, but in fact, she was already thirty-five. She was a veteran hunter, not some rookie who had just awakened, so Peter had great faith in her ability.
"Chairman, I was busy researching a new tea recipe. Why did you call me up here? Is something really serious going on?"
Emily put her hands on her hips and glared angrily at Peter. After all, they had known each other for many years, so even though she was Peter’s subordinate, she spoke to him very casually.
"Stop wasting your time researching recipes. Just go online and find a random one to use. I called you here because Mr. Wolf needs an A-rank hunter with healing abilities."
As soon as he heard that Emily was researching tea recipes again, Peter’s already wrinkled old face became even more wrinkled.
Emily’s ability was a teapot that could pour out cups of tea with different effects according to her wishes. There were two types: injury recovery and energy recovery.
The problem was that the tea created by Emily’s ability had whatever flavor she liked most in reality. There wouldn’t be any problem if her taste in tea was like a normal person’s, but unfortunately, it was the exact opposite.
An ordinary person who drank some of the strange tea flavors she came up with without getting dizzy or passing out would already be considered a strong person with extraordinary willpower. A hunter who drank it without throwing up truly had extraordinary endurance or a special sense of taste.
"Hmph, what does an old-fashioned old man like you know about the taste of tea? I’ve been researching tea for more than twenty years. Compared to me in this field, you’re just a snot-nosed brat."
