Chapter 21: Mia Blocks the Door

Only now did Nexus realize that letting Bell, the system, and Ziz stay this close to each other was a terrible idea. If this kept up, he was sure the three of them would keep throwing vulgar insults at each other for days without stopping.

"So I’m the master of both of you, right?"

His sudden question caught both the system and Ziz off guard. Even though neither of them respected Nexus, it was a fact they couldn’t deny. They were both bound by rules that forced them to help Nexus whether they wanted to or not.

[Yes.]

Even though Ziz wasn’t happy about it, she could only nod unwillingly.

"Good. Then it’s time for us to recruit disciples. Isn’t that the whole reason the system exists?"

The system and Ziz both fell silent for a few seconds, then their eyes met for a brief moment. Without saying a word, the system screen appeared on the right while Ziz sat on Nexus’s left shoulder.

Nexus looked forward, the system looked to the right, and Ziz looked to the left. It really was a team united to the absolute extreme!

Knowing they had to leave this place and get back to the real job, both the system and Ziz fell into an unbelievably deep silence.

Had they changed that quickly? Of course not.

This was automatic mode. You could think of it as a low-level artificial intelligence handling some simple tasks for Nexus in their place.

As for their consciousnesses, they had temporarily entered hibernation to avoid getting annoyed. Of course, the moment they got a chance to satisfy their egos as big as the sky, they would immediately wake up again.

"Huh? That’s it already?"

Everything happened so quickly and smoothly that Bell couldn’t react in time. He had thought there would be fierce resistance because of the conflict with those two arrogant beings, but he never expected it to be this simple.

"Mm, I have to go now."

With that, Nexus turned around and walked away calmly. It was obvious he planned to walk down normally like everyone else.

"Wait a second."

Bell said that, then immediately went to look for his desk that had been knocked away. After rummaging through the drawer for a moment, he took out a bank card.

"Hey, you need money, right? You know how to use this, don’t you?"

As he spoke, Bell shoved the bank card into Nexus’s hand.

"Why would I need money?"

The confused look on Nexus’s face was so genuine that Bell froze, not knowing what to say.

Was money important? Yes, extremely important. Anyone who wasn’t completely cut off from modern society used money.

Money was the most efficient and convenient medium of exchange in this world. Bell himself also needed money and spent a lot of it.

"You can buy food, water, a place to stay, supplies..."

Bell was listing a few things when he suddenly fell speechless. His mouth stayed open and frozen as if his jaw had stopped working.

The reason was that while Bell was listing those things, Nexus snapped his fingers. Piles of money continuously burst out from the floor like a volcanic eruption. The highest denomination bills flew all over the room in such overwhelming numbers that Bell couldn’t see anything else.

With his sharp eyesight, Bell could clearly tell that every bill was real, but the serial numbers were a huge problem. Many bills had completely identical serial numbers, yet they were unquestionably real.

"Stop! Are you trying to make the world’s economy collapse from inflation?"

Bell had never thought of himself as a savior, but he felt he absolutely had to save the global economy from this disaster.

Nexus simply nodded, and then all the money he had just created instantly disappeared.

"I was just trying to tell you that I can create anything you’re thinking about. So there’s no need to worry about something that pointless."

Bell stood there blankly, but he felt it wasn’t right to just let Nexus leave like this. He had to do something to make Nexus remember him better.

"You might not need it, but your disciples are ordinary people. If they live like you, they’re definitely going to die. I’m sure they’ll need money too, and you probably don’t want to create money for them either. Besides, creating money out of thin air as you do is illegal. It’s harmful to society."

Listening to Bell’s persuasion, Nexus felt it made a lot of sense.

"Then give me enough money to buy this entire world. That way my disciples won’t have to buy anything in the future."

"Huh?"

Bell’s body froze like a stone statue. He felt like something was seriously wrong with his ears. What he had just heard couldn’t possibly be real, right?

Buy the entire world with money? Since when could the world be bought with money? If someone actually had enough money to buy the entire world, the moment they decided to do it would be the start of the countdown to the death of that arrogantly foolish person.

Suddenly, Bell felt a chill run down his spine. If Nexus spent money like that, he would go from a wealthy hunter to a debtor.

Without wasting another second, he snatched the bank card back, ran to open a safe, and took out a huge stack of cash before handing it to Nexus.

"I’m sure this is more than enough for you to support two disciples. Don’t go wasting it on things you don’t need. You’re raising disciples, not creating a bunch of useless people who only know how to waste money."

What he said made sense, but the main reason was still that he was afraid of going bankrupt. And of course, Nexus understood exactly how Bell felt.

Looking at Bell’s awkward expression, Nexus smiled lightly and patted him on the shoulder.

"Haha, I’ll accept your goodwill. But I won’t give you anything."

If it had been someone else hearing Nexus speak so bluntly, they probably would have been annoyed, but Bell wasn’t.

"Hahaha, I never expected to get anything from you. Just being able to interact with someone far stronger than me is enough for me to learn a lot. What I’ve learned can’t be measured with money."

As an S-rank hunter, Bell believed that as long as he kept learning, he could accomplish almost anything. That was both his confidence and his pride.

"Good. It’s good that you understand. I’m leaving."

After waving goodbye, Nexus opened the door. Mia suddenly appeared right in front of him with an expression that felt extremely familiar. It was the look of someone who saw Nexus as their sworn enemy.

"You trash F-rank! How dare you make my boyfriend angry?"

The moment Mia saw Nexus, she immediately shouted right in his face.
