Chapter 22: The Invisible Girl
Bell’s room was very well soundproofed, so neither Mia nor anyone else could hear what they were saying inside.
But not hearing it didn’t mean they couldn’t feel it. The huge impact Bell caused made several floors shake slightly, so everyone realized something was wrong in the room.
Anyone in the Wolf guild who sensed it assumed Nexus had pissed Bell off, causing Bell to smash up the room.
As Bell’s girlfriend, Mia naturally wouldn’t miss this chance to show how much she cared about him.
"Mm, move."
Nexus replied half-heartedly without even looking at her. It was obvious he didn’t care about her presence at all. If she had been polite, he might have paid a little more attention, but with such a bad attitude while spouting nonsense, he naturally treated her like she didn’t exist.
"You dare ignore me?!"
Mia angrily swung her hand and slapped straight at Nexus’ face. The loud smack instantly snapped Ziz out of his offline state. As for the system, it was still offline because protecting Nexus wasn’t its responsibility.
Was Nexus in danger? Of course not, but according to the system’s logic and Ziz’s logic, yes.
Mia was a B-rank hunter, while Nexus was trash at G-rank. Even thinking with your toes, it was obvious that slap could take Nexus’ life.
Before Ziz’s aura could even rise, a gust of wind swept past. Mia passed out and collapsed onto the floor.
While Mia’s attention was entirely on Nexus, Bell had already dashed behind her and landed a surprise attack so fast that she didn’t even realize she’d been hit.
"Sorry. Her temper is a lot like mine, but she’s not very smart."
Even though he had just knocked out his girlfriend, there wasn’t the slightest hint of regret on Bell’s face. Maybe he never loved her in the first place. This relationship was probably just for fun.
"It doesn’t matter. But if this keeps up, it’s going to be pretty troublesome."
Nexus wanted to fit into society and live like a normal human, which was why he chose to walk. But with so many people waiting for him downstairs and definitely getting in the way of his search for a disciple, he had no other choice.
Just as he appeared, Bell had already stolen his job. Even though Ziz didn’t like doing it anyway, he still pointed two fingers at his own eyes before pointing them at Bell.
"It’s good that you knew enough to help me deal with the trash. But next time, ask for my permission first, got it?"
"You fat chicken! What did you just say?"
As soon as Bell asked, Ziz went offline again, leaving all the words Bell wanted to say stuck in his throat. If he cursed at Ziz now, wouldn’t that mean he was actually arguing with a real chicken?
"Sorry, I can’t control his mouth."
Nexus smiled, then immediately disappeared, making Bell’s eyes narrow. Bell hadn’t even had time to react, nor could he detect the slightest energy fluctuation to track Nexus.
"Wow... Meeting him today probably used up most of my luck. I should probably be a little more careful when I go outside for the next few days. Who knows, maybe bird poop will start falling more often than usual? No, that’s not right. I already met that bastard system and that fat chicken, so my luck should’ve balanced itself out by now. Hahaha..."
Bell laughed, then walked into his room and closed the door, leaving Mia’s seductive body unconscious on the cold floor.
If someone with bad intentions saw this, what would they do? Of course nothing. This was right outside Bell’s room! Unless they were brain-damaged or an S-rank hunter, no one would touch Mia even if she really needed help.
Even though he had run into those two bastards, the system and Ziz, Bell was in a pretty good mood today, so he cleaned up the room himself.
Just as he was cleaning a corner of the room, something strange happened again. A sticker that looked like a door suddenly appeared on the wall, making Bell immediately frown.
Before he could analyze anything, the door suddenly opened. Even though he couldn’t see anything at all, something flew out from inside the door and slammed into Bell.
The impact wasn’t very strong. It felt like accidentally bumping into someone walking a little too fast on the street.
For an S-rank hunter like Bell, that impact wasn’t even enough to scrape his skin, let alone make him feel pain.
Bell’s expression immediately changed. A moment ago, he had been completely relaxed. Now, his eyes were filled with killing intent and absolute decisiveness.
"Hmph, bold intruder. Die!"
Even though he couldn’t see anything, Bell could judge the intruder’s position through the movement of the wind. His hand accurately grabbed the intruder by the neck and squeezed hard.
The sound of bones cracking echoed out. A thin transparent cloth fell to the floor, revealing a head of shining golden hair.
A beautiful young girl with golden eyes that sparkled like stars, but they were now rolled back. Her body twitched slightly before gradually going completely still.
Her breathtaking beauty made Bell’s heart race, and his face turned slightly red. If Mia was sexy, then this girl was the image of innocence and cuteness in a simple white dress.
"Hey, are you okay?"
Bell panicked, not knowing what to do, so all he could do was ask a stupid question.
Her neck was already broken, so how could she possibly be okay? Besides, her eyes had rolled back, and she was lying completely still. She was most likely already dead or about to die.
Bell deeply regretted what he had just done. Someone this beautiful couldn’t possibly be a bad person!
But she was already dead, so what else could he do? Bell’s attention shifted to the transparent cloth and the door-shaped sticker on the wall.
"So she turned invisible because of this?"
Bell picked up the transparent cloth and tried using it himself, only to find that it did nothing. But when he placed it over the girl’s body, the part it covered became completely invisible.
"Hmm, what exactly is this thing?"
Bell had come into contact with plenty of the highest-level knowledge in the hunter world, yet he had never even heard of anything like this.
He tried using more strength to tear the cloth apart, only to discover that no matter how hard he pulled, it wouldn’t even stretch.
