Chapter 23: Resurrection
How did this make any sense? Even if Bell wasn’t serious, the strength of an S-rank combat hunter was more than enough to tear a tiger in half. Yet a thin piece of cloth didn’t suffer the slightest bit of damage.
If this was the ability of someone above S-rank, then it would make sense. But the blonde girl who had just died was absurdly weak.
Her bones and muscles were no different from an ordinary fragile girl, nothing like a high-rank hunter at all.
"Are you kidding me? I can’t even tear a piece of cloth?"
Bell’s competitive nature wouldn’t allow him to lose to something so ’harmless’ right in front of him. The shirt he had just changed into was torn apart once again as he switched into his transformed state.
The enormous strength that could lift an entire skyscraper was now focused completely on the piece of cloth, but it didn’t change at all.
Bell strained until his face turned red, the muscles in his arms trembling. He even used the power of the wind element to attack the cloth. Even so, the result didn’t change.
"What the hell is this? This thing is definitely not a piece of cloth."
Bell had seen the highest quality fabrics in the world, but they were still just fabric. Meanwhile, the transparent cloth in his hand wasn’t even any material that had ever been discovered or created on Earth.
Earlier, Bell had held back a little because he was afraid of destroying it, but now he wasn’t holding back anymore.
Bell’s sharp claws slashed at the cloth hundreds of times. The energy that unintentionally scattered from those slashes, combined with the power of the wind, left hundreds of claw marks several centimeters deep across the solid wall.
The room had just calmed down a little, but now, with debris falling from the walls and the wind blowing everywhere, it looked as if a dust storm was raging inside.
After swinging his arms for a while, Bell felt a little bored and stopped. He casually cleaned up the dust floating around with a gentle breeze, sweeping it all into one corner of the room.
The piece of cloth slowly drifted to the floor once the wind no longer kept it suspended in the air. And of course, there wasn’t even the slightest scratch on it.
"This doesn’t make any sense. Even SS-rank isn’t this ridiculous. Could this piece of cloth be the ability of some SSS-rank or something even higher?"
Throughout the past thirty years, humanity had only witnessed a single SSS-rank. But according to the records, that person’s ability had nothing to do with creating cloth or anything similar.
The chances of a third SSS-rank appearing without him knowing were low. Bell leaned more toward the guess that some divine existence beyond SSS-rank had come to this place.
After all, he had just met Nexus, the system, and the fat chicken Ziz. Bell had no idea what standard to use to judge their true strength, but they definitely surpassed SSS-rank, because SSS-rank was only capable of destruction on the scale of a planet’s surface.
From what he had observed, any divine being that came to Earth had its power restricted to an almost harmless level, so he wasn’t wary at all.
"What’s wrong with my luck today? Did divine beings suddenly decide it was tourist season on Earth?"
The thought was so absurd that even Bell couldn’t accept it after saying it out loud.
Why would divine beings have that much free time? Even demons wouldn’t be bored enough to do something so pointless.
The transparent piece of cloth couldn’t be used or destroyed. Bell had no choice but to turn his attention to the door-shaped sticker on the wall.
It was obviously a sticker, yet the door could actually be opened and closed. However, it could only be pulled open, not pushed into the wall it was stuck on.
When he opened the door, he could see the space outside the building. This door could actually ignore Bell’s thick reinforced concrete wall with ease.
On top of that, it didn’t damage the wall at all, as if it had opened a special space that connected the two sides of the wall.
Bell reached his hand through it and found that nothing blocked him. He could actually reach outside, so he tried sticking his head through.
The strong wind blowing against his face made it clear that this was real. The height also matched the floor he was currently on.
"This absurd thing has to be an ability. There’s no way it could be some kind of man-made item."
As he spoke, Bell tried to peel the sticker off with his fingers, but something strange happened. The moment Bell touched it, it fused seamlessly with the wall as if the two had always been one.
"Don’t tell me this thing can’t be destroyed either?"
Bell muttered before walking back into the room. He raised his fist, intending to blow the entire wall away, but then stopped.
"Forget it. It’ll definitely be pointless. But how did she get up here? This height isn’t something a normal human or a low-rank hunter could jump to. Climbing up is impossible. The security system isn’t so bad that anyone could just break in whenever they wanted."
After taking a closer look at her outfit, Bell noticed a pair of tiny white wings on her back. They looked like nothing more than a harmless and cute decoration, but his instincts told him this thing was just like those other two strange objects.
Since she was already dead, Bell didn’t bother asking for permission and directly removed the wings for inspection. The moment he picked them up, his eyelid twitched.
"They look like toys, but once again, it’s something I can’t destroy."
While Bell was thinking, the sound of her bones cracking echoed once again, making him immediately frown.
Of course, he wasn’t afraid she would do anything to him. After all, killing her earlier had been far too easy, so easy that his guard had dropped to almost zero.
But the more Bell looked, the wider his eyes became, and his mouth opened wide enough to fit several eggs inside. He had just snapped her neck, yet it had already recovered within a few seconds.
The pale face she had before was now full of life again. Even stranger, despite having just died once, there wasn’t the slightest trace of fear on her face.
"Hehe, thanks for helping me wake up."
Her gentle voice and sweet smile were so enchanting that just hearing them made Bell’s favorability toward her shoot to the highest level. Even if she wanted him to become her son, he would gladly throw away his dignity and agree.
"Hahaha..."
Bell froze and laughed like an idiot. Who would have thought that an S-rank hunter, a famous playboy like him, would be so thoroughly captivated by the beauty and voice of a young girl?
