Chapter 24: Magical Gadget: Universal Compass
The more Bell looked at her, the stranger it felt. It was clearly the first time he had heard her voice, yet it somehow sounded familiar, like he had heard it not long ago.
But where had he heard it? He hadn’t even met anyone who looked like her lately.
His self-control was pretty decent. After being distracted for a few seconds, he quickly regained his focus. It wasn’t too embarrassing.
"Wait. Why are you thanking me? I didn’t do anything to help you."
That was already putting it lightly. Bell had literally snapped her neck just now. That was an undeniable fact, not some illusion.
Even though being thanked by her made Bell feel excited, he couldn’t accept those thanks.
"You doing nothing was already helping me. If you were a bad person then..."
She paused for a moment, and her golden eyes seemed to light up. Bell felt like those clear eyes were a mirror reflecting every thought in his heart.
"Hehe, anyway, you’re a good person, hum..."
She was about to say the word "human," but halfway through, she suddenly realized she had almost let it slip and immediately covered her mouth.
With such an obvious reaction, unless Bell was blind, there was no way he wouldn’t notice something was off. The way she almost said the word "human" was something he had just heard not long ago.
Although the system’s attitude and Ziz’s attitude were trash, completely opposite to this young girl, Bell could still sense a huge similarity.
Bell grabbed both of her shoulders and looked straight into her eyes. The more intently he stared, the more obvious the confusion on her face became.
"Could you be..."
Bell deliberately spoke very slowly, and as expected, it made her panic immediately.
"I’m not!"
The moment she shouted it, the young girl realized she had let it slip and immediately covered her mouth. She kept shaking her head, her adorably flustered expression making Bell immediately let go of her shoulders.
Bell didn’t say anything and seriously thought about it. If she wasn’t human, then his line of thinking would be different.
Although she was far too weak for him to associate her with a divine being, wasn’t that fat chicken Ziz weak too?
He hadn’t met many divine beings. Other than the three who had just left, there was only one left - the angel who had helped him awaken.
That angel had appeared in the form of a woman. On top of that, this young girl had very similar coloring to that angel. It was just that right now, he couldn’t sense even the slightest trace of divinity from her.
At this point, the answer was already obvious. It was hard to believe, but Bell’s reasoning told him this guess was absolutely correct.
That explained why Bell couldn’t destroy those strange items no matter how hard he tried. A mortal naturally couldn’t damage an angel’s belongings.
Now that he knew her identity, Bell naturally interpreted that "love at first sight" feeling from earlier as the instinctive reverence he had toward an angel.
Just like that, the plan to change girlfriends that had only just begun to form in his mind was scrapped before it could even take shape.
"What are you doing on Earth, my lady? Using a mortal body without any strength is very dangerous."
Even though worrying about an angel was completely unnecessary, Bell genuinely was worried. After all, this angel was a little... innocent?
Bell wasn’t sure how to describe her accurately, but with beauty that could topple kingdoms, there would definitely be plenty of idiots with bad intentions toward her.
"I can’t descend to Earth using my divine body. I came here to... I can’t say that. If you want to help, then help me find someone. I chased him here, but I lost track of him."
There was no way she could say that she had come here to be Nexus’s "tour guide." Saying something like that would turn angels into a laughingstock.
Although her real purpose was to keep an eye on Nexus to prevent him from doing anything that could destroy the universe, she didn’t dare say it. She was worried that if Nexus heard about it, he would just teleport somewhere far away.
Bell’s mind was still working perfectly. The moment he heard that she was looking for someone, Nexus immediately came to mind. There was absolutely no way an angel had just happened to secretly break into his room.
"Who are you looking for, my lady?"
Even though he had no idea where Nexus was, he still wanted to get a little closer to her. Getting acquainted with an angel definitely wasn’t a bad deal.
"A young man with black hair. He’s wearing black clothes that look quite unusual compared to normal people. Most importantly, he appeared very close just a moment ago. Have you seen him?"
With the room being such a complete mess, an angel still couldn’t figure anything out? It was a bit disappointing, but this mortal body of hers clearly didn’t come with particularly high intelligence.
Michael hadn’t intended to send her to Earth as some kind of super genius anyway. She was here to keep an eye on Nexus while getting a bit of training at the same time.
"I do know Nexus, but he already teleported away. I don’t know where he is for now."
Her expression had only just brightened a little before it fell again. If she couldn’t catch up to Nexus in time, what if he "accidentally" blew up this galaxy?
As soon as the thought crossed her mind, she hurriedly pulled out a small cloth pouch from between her breasts. Even with such an eye-catching sight, Bell didn’t feel the slightest bit interested.
He wasn’t pretending or forcing himself to hold back. That was genuinely how he felt.
Ever since finding out she was an angel, there was only one word to describe his attitude toward her: respect.
The tiny white cloth pouch looked incredibly small, yet she easily slipped her entire arm inside to search through it. A few seconds later, she pulled out a compass.
Magical gadget: Universal Compass!
"Great, that’s enough. This is the Universal Compass. This magical gadget can help me find anyone or anything. I used it to come here earlier, so if I use it one more time, I should be able to find Nexus."
After finishing her introduction, she fixed her gaze on the compass needle. The needle on the compass spun around and around...
