Chapter 81: Chairman Peter
The chairman of the Hunter Association’s office was decorated extremely simply, with only a desk, a computer, and a massage chair.
Peter wore a blindfold and chewed gum while enjoying the massage chair during the time when he had nothing to do, but suddenly the sound of shattering glass from behind made him jump.
Although White smashed through the bulletproof glass, the moment the glass shattered, many strands of energy combined together, looking like huge pink chewing gum strands, covering the entire room like a spider web and sticking tightly to her.
Peter’s ability was Sticky String. It sounded like a joke, but for an S-rank, there was no weak ability.
Peter could create extremely durable energy strands with properties no different from chewing gum. Using only muscle strength to break free when caught in the trap was almost impossible. He was one of the hunters with the highest-level control abilities.
Of course, White could use high temperatures or an explosion to destroy them, but doing so would be no different from destroying the building, so she didn’t.
"Peter! Hurry up and let me go. It’s urgent."
Seeing that the intruder wasn’t an enemy but White, Peter was stunned. When there was a perfectly good door, why did she suddenly come through the window?
"White? Why did you break the window of my office?"
"Wait!"
While still confused, Peter immediately frowned. White’s disheveled appearance made him carefully look her up and down, checking whether she was injured anywhere.
He couldn’t see any injuries, but Peter noticed that there was actually an extremely thin layer of salt on her beautiful face.
This earth-shattering discovery immediately made Peter’s eyes widen. Inside the old man’s aged eyes, a furious flame suddenly seemed to be blazing fiercely.
"Who the hell is that bastard? Who is the bastard who tricked my dear White’s feelings? I have to make him go bungee jumping without a rope from a plane."
Although the two of them had been longtime teammates, it could be said that Peter treated White like his own granddaughter. Peter always paid very close attention to White’s life, and if there was a problem, he would solve it before she even had the chance to ask.
How many years had it been since Peter last saw her cry? No, that wasn’t right. He didn’t seem to have ever seen her cry before.
Going into a dungeon definitely wouldn’t make White cry, and fighting even less so. So Peter thought that after thirty years, White had finally gotten involved in a relationship and run into some damn brat.
Just look at White’s disheveled appearance and torn clothes; it was obvious that bastard was some violent bastard. He even dared to use fire to burn White’s clothes. What a heartless bastard!
What? White was an S-rank hunter? Exactly, she was clearly so in love with that bastard that she let him beat her like this. This made Peter even angrier.
Normally, Peter wouldn’t come up with such a cliché plot, but White had cried. Just that one small detail was enough to completely mess up Peter’s train of thought.
Seeing Peter suddenly lean his face close, the corner of White’s mouth twitched. She couldn’t understand what kind of weird things Peter had imagined in just a few seconds.
"Wait. It’s not like what you think."
"What? Why are you still trying to protect that bastard? I know you had a hard time finding someone you love, but even if you love him, you should still have some sense. Just tell me who he is. I’ll make him behave for you."
With his train of thought completely off track right now, Peter obviously couldn’t understand White’s words in the normal way.
"Behave?"
Hearing Peter’s grand declaration, the corner of White’s mouth twitched. Although she really cherished the affection Peter had for her, Peter’s declaration just now was indeed way too stupid.
Although Peter was an S-rank hunter, he specialized in control rather than damage. And even if he were a damage dealer and reached SSS-rank, he would still be useless against Nexus.
"Have you calmed down yet? Do I really look like some naive and stupid girl blinded by love? I’m one of the strongest female hunters in the world."
"So what if you’re strong? Everyone’s an idiot when they fall in love for the first time." Peter immediately shook his head in disagreement.
Now White was angry. She didn’t even have time, and yet she had gotten dragged into this ridiculous mess.
The aura surrounding White’s body became brighter and brighter, making her look like she was about to explode.
"Keep talking nonsense, and I’ll blow up your office too. I’m not in love with anyone!"
Seeing White get so worked up, although Peter still didn’t believe her, he still went along with her. If she really unleashed her power, forget just one office; the entire building might collapse too.
"Alright."
Peter reluctantly nodded and withdrew his ability to let White go. Only then did he notice Ziz’s presence and immediately frowned.
Ziz was very harmless right now, even weaker than an F-rank monster, but Peter still detected a trace of evil power.
"Why did you bring this monster back? Even though it’s very weak, you still shouldn’t let it stay nearby. Low-level monsters will attack humans at any time without thinking."
As expected of the chairman of the Hunter Association. His concern for humanity always came first. Even though his mind was a complete mess over White’s love life, the issue of a monster leaving the dungeon was still his top priority.
"Don’t worry. It was because of Ziz that I agreed to become Nexus’s disciple. If you dare tell me to throw Ziz away, I won’t show you any respect either."
Those precious books could fall to the ground, but White still held Ziz extremely tightly. Compared to becoming stronger, having a pet she liked that could also protect her if she really encountered danger was much more important.
Seeing White hugging Ziz tightly and glaring at him fiercely as a warning, Peter could only helplessly shake his head. Dogs, cats, pigs, birds... There were so many animals like that, so why did she have to choose a monster as a pet?
But Peter immediately realized that his thoughts had drifted away from the main point. What really mattered was that White had secretly gone out and taken a master that he didn’t know about beforehand.
