Chapter 12: Cultivation Academy System
Veins bulged on Bell’s forehead, his fists clenched tight. Right now, he genuinely wanted to punch Nexus’ head clean off, but reason stopped him.
Bell was arrogant, and he had a hot temper, but he definitely wasn’t stupid. He still didn’t know how strong Nexus was, so it wasn’t a good idea to start trouble first.
"So this is how you treat your benefactor?"
Trying to salvage a bit of his pride, Bell could only start listing his merits. He hadn’t planned to do it, but Nexus was looking down on him too much.
"Since when?"
Nexus looked a little confused. He had never paid much attention to Bell, so he didn’t know what Bell had ever done for him.
"Are you stupid? Did you seriously think I called you up here just to calculate exactly how much you owe?"
Dealing with someone with EQ this low made Bell’s head heat up even more. The frustration made him want to fight more than ever.
Hearing that, Nexus immediately turned around, opened the door, and left under Bell’s completely stunned gaze.
"Stop!"
"If I don’t owe anything, why should I stay here?"
Nexus replied bluntly. He might not have many emotions, but he still understood what people were saying.
Bell moved as fast as the wind to block Nexus’ path before locking the door. His eyes trembled as if he were holding back a blaze of fury that could erupt at any moment.
"Is your EQ negative? I went out of my way to say you owed me in front of everyone so they wouldn’t hold a grudge against you anymore, and this is how you treat me?"
Right now, Bell was starting to feel this risky investment wasn’t worth it at all. This was the first time in his life he had ever felt this frustrated.
"Mm."
Nexus nodded half-heartedly. That didn’t really count as helping him anyway. Those few people couldn’t even find him, let alone bother him.
"You... Forget it. I’ll be straight with you. I want to recruit you into the Wolf guild. As for your position, that’ll depend on what you’re capable of before I can arrange anything."
Bell ruffled his hair, trying to calm himself down. Otherwise, he really was going to punch Nexus.
"Didn’t you say I was F-rank, the most useless of the useless? Then why are you recruiting me?"
Now that they were finally talking about the main issue, Nexus showed a bit of interest. As for joining, of course he could easily agree. That request didn’t violate any of his rules.
Seeing that Nexus was being more cooperative, Bell’s attitude eased up a little as well. At that question, he simply curled his lips into a scornful smile.
"I only said that to fool those ignorant idiots. The crystal sphere is never wrong. You really are G-rank. And you’re not as weak as an F-rank, but I don’t know what your ability is, so I can’t tell what rank you’re actually comparable to. So what is your ability?"
"Let me activate it first."
Nexus answered honestly. He hadn’t used that seven-colored card yet. After all, he didn’t feel the same urgency to become a hunter as everyone else.
"What the hell? You mean you’re the one in control?"
Bell instantly lost his composure, rushing over to grab Nexus by the shoulders and shake him hard. He spoke so frantically that saliva flew everywhere, and by pure coincidence, some of it landed on Nexus’ face.
Great! Saliva couldn’t stick to his face. As Bell’s hands gripped Nexus’ shoulders, he felt an extremely thin barrier.
Bell’s brain suddenly went into overdrive, making his head burn hot. Putting together all the information he had gathered, he could conclude that Nexus was definitely not human.
If he wasn’t human, then what was he? A monster? But Nexus showed no hostility, while monsters attacked humans the moment they saw them. Then what else could he be?
"Is that really so strange?"
Nexus’ calm expression made Bell’s heart pound wildly. Even without Nexus actually using his power, he could already tell he absolutely couldn’t beat him.
An S-rank hunter couldn’t beat someone who hadn’t even awakened an ability yet... Ridiculous!
But that ridiculous reality was right in front of him, making it impossible for Bell not to believe it.
"Wait before activating it. Tell me about your awakening process first."
Bell was so anxious now that he didn’t even want to sit down. Without blinking once, his eyes stayed locked on Nexus’ face, observing every tiny expression.
Nexus honestly told him everything about his awakening. Of course, all the conversations were completely left out because he thought it might be a bad thing if mortals heard about them.
"A black card? The Supreme Archangel? The Lord of Hell? A seven-colored card? Give me a minute..."
Bell lay back on the sofa with one hand on his forehead. The shock from earlier had left his mind spinning. His head was so hot that he wondered if he was actually running a fever.
At first, when he heard about the angel, he was delighted as if he had found a priceless treasure because he had met one before as well. Combined with Nexus’ completely calm attitude, Bell believed everything was true.
But the further the story went, the more terrifying it became. This was something humanity had never encountered in the past thirty years.
The idea of recruiting Nexus was completely thrown out of his mind. He’d have to be insane to bring an existence of this level back as a subordinate.
"Mm, I should see what this seven-colored card actually does."
Nexus stopped paying attention to Bell and directly summoned the card.
The card floated in the air, radiating a mystical light that startled Bell.
"What the hell? You can actually take that thing out?"
The number of worldview-shattering shocks Bell had received in the last ten minutes was greater than everything he had experienced in his entire life.
Could someone explain to him why something that belonged to the spiritual world was openly appearing in physical form like this?
Bell seems to be quite talented. Even in a situation like this, a ridiculous thought still crossed his mind: If it’s physical, doesn’t that mean I can steal it?
Of course, reason crushed that thought immediately. Only a lunatic would try to steal something from Nexus.
While Bell’s mind was in complete chaos, the card vanished, and a blue screen floating in midair appeared in front of both him and Nexus.
