Chapter 952 - Spoils of War
On his way back to the Divine Civilization, Han Wu ran into the unit legion that had been making the long trek to reach him. Linking up with them, he activated his fixed-point coordinates and teleported back to the Blood Coliseum.
He had done the math. Traveling all the way back to the Divine Civilization would take far too long. Teleporting to the Blood Coliseum first and then transferring to the Divine Civilization would save a great deal of time. The Blood Coliseum was his territory, meaning this route was also completely safe.
Word of his return reached Marks, the administrator of the Blood Coliseum, and he hurried over with the compiled account ledgers that spanned the period of Han Wu’s absence. Han Wu took the ledgers but didn’t open them. He trusted Marks completely and saw no reason to double-check.
Marks was a sharp man. He recognized this gesture of trust immediately and was grateful for it. With a clap of his hands, he summoned the elite fighters the Blood Coliseum had produced since Han Wu had last visited for a formal introduction.
The Blood Coliseum’s primary race was the Sanguine Combatants. They grew stronger by absorbing blood, which was never in short supply at the coliseum. Battles between units produced rivers of it.
Previously, this method could produce Sanguine Combatants in large numbers but rarely developed them into true elites. Ordinary blood simply didn’t contain enough energy for high-ranking growth.
That had changed dramatically after Han Wu took ownership. He had developed methods to extract and purify the Blood Energy, then used the Refiner to enhance it further.
The resulting blood essence crystals were of exceptional quality. This drastic improvement to the Sanguine Combatants’ diet allowed them to produce a remarkable number of top-tier fighters in a short amount of time.
There were five Microcosm rank Sanguine Combatants and over 10,000 Heavenrender and Earthsunder ones combined.
The Death Tower had also helped. Marks, acting on Han Wu’s behalf, had recruited many powerful fighters. These elites enjoyed the Blood Coliseum’s support and, in return, served as its enforcers and maintained order.
Han Wu nodded in satisfaction as he listened to the full report. By his rough estimate, the Blood Coliseum’s roster would place it around thirtieth on the Divine Civilization faction rankings. That wasn’t especially high, but still remarkable for a growing operation.
After reviewing the Blood Coliseum’s progress, Han Wu released the former Dark Faction members from his Microcosm. Tears welled in their eyes when they emerged and realized they were safe. Escaping from the Light God King felt like taking a stroll past the gates of death and making it back alive.
Once their emotions had settled, however, anxiety inevitably crept back in. The Dark Faction had been destroyed, and most of its members wiped out. Only this handful remained. If they returned to the Divine Civilization, the Light Faction would likely hunt them down or retaliate against their families.
They needed a new patron. Han Wu was the obvious choice.
Su Lan, the Goddess of Enchantment, had already decided to help Xu Hai build the Wisdom Faction up, but she also couldn’t simply ignore the fate of the former Dark Faction members.
At their urging, she asked Han Wu whether he would take them in. Han Wu agreed without a second thought.
Most of them were seasoned Major Gods. They were high-quality talent by any standard in the Divine Civilization. For them to willingly come under his banner was something Han Wu couldn’t have arranged even in his wildest dreams.
A weight lifted from the former Dark Faction members’ shoulders. The Light Faction wouldn’t dare come after them openly while they were under Han Wu’s protection.
As an extra precaution, Han Wu told them to bring their families over as soon as possible. He would cover all expenses. Their gratitude only deepened at this. With their arrangements settled, Han Wu returned to his divine realm to take stock of his gains.
The rescue mission was a resounding success. He had saved Su Lan and recruited sixteen Major Gods. That alone was significant, but it was only part of the haul.
There was also the Slaughter Jurisdiction’s passive effect, which made every one of Han Wu’s kills count as a Sacrifice. Weak creatures didn’t yield much, so he normally paid those yields little mind.
This time, though, he had used the Proclamation of Death to kill over a dozen Huang Shengjun in a single burst. His locust units had also used Formation Might to annihilate the entire thousand-strong Huang Shengjun projection. Both had produced excellent rewards.
The first reward was a Seclusion Space. It was a pocket dimension with adjustable time flow, measuring 1000 cubic kilometers. Its maximum time dilation was a hundred to one, with a hundred days inside equaling a single day outside. The larger the difference in time flow, the more Divine Essence it consumed.
Fortunately, Han Wu was practically rolling in Divine Essence.
He planned to install the Seclusion Space in his divine realm and fill it with over a hundred basic avatars. Their sole task would be to study manuals until the True Martial Jurisdiction’s mastery reached 100%.
The second reward was far more substantial. It was a complete Divine Jurisdiction, earned from killing over a thousand Huang Shengjuns in a single attack. Its name was Everchange Jurisdiction.
Although classified as a lesser Jurisdiction, its effect was unique. Absorbing a single drop of a life form’s blood would allow the user to unlock a racial transformation matching that creature. It could also adjust physical features for disguise. The transformation’s power scaled with the race but couldn’t exceed the user’s true strength.
It seemed niche, but was actually extraordinarily useful in practice. Han Wu had already decided where to slot it into: the 567 Martial Caste.
He could already picture how well the Everchange Jurisdiction and the 567 Martial Caste would mesh. There was a higher tendency for profound upgrades when compatibility was high.
The exact form that would take remained to be seen, though. He also needed to complete his mastery over the True Martial Jurisdiction before he could absorb the Everchange Jurisdiction.
Beyond those two major rewards, the ordinary resources earned through Sacrifice were distributed as bonuses to the units that had performed well. Just as he finished this allocation, a video call from Jia Gui popped up.
“Brother Han Wu, come out for a drink. My treat!” Jia Gui said, with an almost fawning expression on his wrinkled face.
Han Wu immediately sensed something was up. Jia Gui was legendary for his stinginess. For him to buy drinks meant he wanted no small favor.
