Chapter 951 - Elina’s Fate
The Obsidrum Judgment locked onto the Light God King, forcing him to abandon his offense and raise his shield to block. The blow was wrapped in a crushing pressure that could slay Gods. It slammed into the Holy Radiant Shield with a force that left deep cracks across its surface.
The Light God King braced against it with alarm. This mutated Swordwind possessed two abilities capable of massively amplifying attack power. It was a rare find indeed.
Immediately after, the Wrath War Tyrannosprite King hurled another condensed Gaia Force blast at the Light God King, forcing him to raise the shield again. The cracks that had been repairing themselves split wider.
A few more hits at this intensity and the Holy Radiant Shield would shatter entirely. The Light God King had to kill Han Wu before his defense broke.
He surged forward once more, overwhelming pressure bearing down as he thrust the Spear of Victory. Its dazzling flourishes left Han Wu no time to release any slash technique.
Han Wu blocked with Peerless. With the Duel God Physique and the True Martial God Physique boosting him, he managed to hold on, but the Light God King’s centuries of battle experience gave him a clear edge. It wasn’t long before Han Wu was losing ground again.
The Origin of Mutation anxiously watched from behind. Although it wanted to help, it knew its own limits. Research was its forte, not fighting.
At that moment, it noticed a surviving Huang Shengjun from the earlier Formation Might clash. Its eyes lit up. It knew Huang Shengjun’s body inside and out, having burned through at least a hundred of Huang Shengjun’s lives in its research at one point. It had enough data on the man to fill a warehouse.
Now, a prime test subject was practically being served to it on a silver platter. It wasn’t about to pass that up. While it couldn’t beat the Light God King, it could certainly handle one Huang Shengjun.
It rushed forward, restrained the Huang Shengjun, and went to work. Its body produced the appropriate gene serums and viral worms, which it injected directly into Huang Shengjun, simultaneously guiding the mutations with its targeted mutation ability.
The Huang Shengjun resisted at first, but as the serum and worms took effect, his body stopped responding. A foreign consciousness took over, bringing with it a library of data on how to use this body most efficiently.
Thirty seconds later, a modified Huang Shengjun charged fearlessly at the Light God King under the viral worm’s control.
The Light God King was busy overwhelming Han Wu with superior technique when he sensed a life form approaching from behind. A quick scan told him it was one of the masked guards, so he didn’t bother raising his defenses.
That was a mistake. The modified Huang Shengjun’s fist drove into the Light God King’s lower back with pinpoint precision, Microcosm force punching through skin and muscle to strike his kidney.
It was the Origin of Mutation’s directive to the viral worm. Huang Shengjun’s body was simply the tool carrying it out.
The targeted kidney blow left the Light God King’s body buckling. No man could simply shrug off a hit like that completely unfazed. Powering through, he spun around in a fury and drove the Spear of Victory at the Huang Shengjun.
Before the blow could land, the Huang Shengjun self-destructed. The Microcosm explosion inflicted real damage on the Light God King.
“Stellar Rain!” Han Wu shouted, seizing the opening.
Billions of energy blades materialized into a river of cutting steel and slammed into the Light God King.
The Holy Radiant Shield held, but each successive impact cracked and destroyed the Microcosms embedded in its surface. It was slowly breaking down!
By the time the last blade fell, the Light God King was a wreck. His Lumen Aura was dim, his Holy Radiant Shield cracked, the Spear of Victory in pieces, and his body severely injured, with several blades still lodged in him.
But Han Wu hadn’t struck a killing blow. The Light God King retreated to Paradise Island, where Light Faction members flooded him with Light Energy. His Jurisdiction effects regenerated rapidly, and his wounds sealed at a visible speed.
Han Wu cursed under his breath. The Light Jurisdiction was absurd. It could endure punishment and regenerate endlessly. Killing the man was nearly impossible.
As the Light God King recovered, Han Wu decisively turned and fled. He had seen enough. Fighting the Light God King was pointless if he couldn’t guarantee a killing strike. The man would simply outlast his opponents through sheer regeneration.
The Light God King silently watched as Han Wu escaped, not bothering to pursue. Both of them knew continuing would benefit neither side. Although the Light God King held the advantage, he feared Han Wu would pull out yet another surprise and land a lethal blow while the Holy Radiant Shield was compromised. The odds were low, but Han Wu had the power to do it.
After Han Wu vanished from sight, the Light Faction members approached the Light God King and asked whether they should give chase.
The Light God King rolled his eyes. They’re only bringing up pursuit after the man is long gone. Where were they when he was actively fleeing?
If the Light God King had truly wanted to chase, he wouldn’t have needed them to do so. He could’ve done it alone.
“Useless,” the Light God King scoffed.
His gaze then drifted to Elina, who had regained consciousness. She was his most accomplished descendant and thus also his favorite. Based on her recent performance, though, she still fell far short of his expectations.
“Elina, you’re loyal to me. Are you willing to devote everything you are to the Light?” the Light God King asked abruptly.
“I am willing,” she answered without hesitation.
“Good. Then here is your next assignment. You will mate with An Yunian, son of the late God King of Darkness,” the Light God King instructed plainly. “I need a child capable of wielding both light and darkness to carry on my will.”
Elina’s expression wavered, but her faith overpowered her personal feelings. “I will do her best to complete the mission.”
She had been born into the Light God King’s family, and she accepted the fate that came with it.
The Light God King nodded. Elina hadn’t lived up to his ideal, but as long as she obeyed and continued to serve the Light Faction, she still had value.
He looked back at Paradise Island, large sections of which had caved in. This operation hadn’t eliminated every Dark Faction remnant, but it had dealt with roughly three-quarters of them and captured An Yunian, the next would-be God King of Darkness. The Dark Faction was as good as finished.
The only regrettable part was Han Wu. His interference had derailed the Light Faction’s plans and inflicted considerable losses.
“Han Wu and the Wisdom Faction... Once I’ve fully absorbed what I’ve taken from the Dark Faction, I’ll settle the accounts with you,” the Light God King muttered darkly, tilting his head back to gaze at the sky. “The Divine Civilization’s balance of power is due for a change."
