“Whether I join the Wisdom Faction is none of your business,” Su Lan said flatly. “The Dark Faction dissolved the moment the old God King fell. I’m a free agent now. I can go wherever I want. You have no say in my decisions.”

This naturally pissed An Yunian off. Even when in front of others, this woman refused to give him an inch. He raised his hand to strike her, but dark-attribute attacks saw a ninety percent suppression rate on Paradise Island, and the amount of power he could gather was laughable. It couldn’t scratch Su Lan, just push her further away.

The short Major God quickly stepped between them and talked Su Lan down. “Wait, Su Lan, please forgive the young master. The Dark Faction is in shambles, and the young master is just too agitated to think straight.”

Sighing, Su Lan decided to let it go for the sake of their shared history. An Yunian, on the other hand, was already scheming ways to bring Su Lan to heel.

Meanwhile, Elina and her squad hadn’t gone far before she stopped. She suspected the half-footprint was a deliberate decoy, and that the Dark Faction survivors were still hiding in the area she had just left.

Do you think faking half a footprint can fool Elina? she thought to herself. You guys are underestimating Elina.

She relayed this suspicion to the Light God King, who immediately ordered his forces to flood Paradise Island with reinforcements. They would seal the area Elina had identified and eliminate every last survivor.

Han Wu, still en route, noticed that the path ahead was full of Light Faction units all heading in the same direction he was. This worried him, but it also confirmed that the Magic Compass was pointing in the right direction.

He picked up the pace. With Jia Gui on his back, maintaining the Concealment Jurisdiction to mask his presence, the two of them moved through the enemy lines like ghosts.

After covering five hundred kilometers, a second use of the Magic Compass narrowed down the location. Han Wu arrived at the spot but found no one. There were no visible hiding places either. They had to be underground.

Jia Gui volunteered before Han Wu could start digging. Tunneling was his specialty, honed through years of hiding and fleeing. After identifying the right spot, he dug straight down.

Fifty meters below the surface, he broke into an underground cavern. Inside were dozens of people from the Divine Civilization. They initially mistook Jia Gui for a Light Faction pursuer and attacked.

Han Wu dropped in just in time to neutralize the incoming attacks with his Conversion Jurisdiction before announcing his identity and purpose.

Many of the Dark Faction members recognized his name and knew about his ties to the Wisdom Faction and the God King of Darkness. His arrival excited them.

Su Lan came forward to greet him. Seeing that she was safe, Han Wu let out a breath and said, “Ma’am, Xu Hai sent me to bring you home.”

This one sentence summed up Xu Hai’s feelings for her.

Su Lan was deeply moved, but also worried. Paradise Island was crawling with enemies. That Han Wu had gotten in was already a miracle in itself. How could he get over sixty Dark Faction members out?

Han Wu was thinking the same thing. Sixty people couldn’t move unnoticed. The Light Faction would spot them instantly.

While everyone puzzled over the problem, An Yunian stepped forward, expression slightly sour at his spotlight and attention being stolen with Han Wu’s arrival. Nevertheless, he kept that resentment to himself. He needed Han Wu’s help to escape.

“Han Wu, you risked your life to save us. On behalf of the Dark Faction, I thank you. As for how to get out, I actually have an idea,” An Yunian said.

Every Dark Faction member perked up, though slightly annoyed that he’d been sitting on this the whole time.

Han Wu was interested. “Explain.”

“The Light Faction has locked down all spatial abilities on Paradise Island. No one can open anything using spatial abilities or even summon their units. My Shade Jurisdiction, however, can override the barrier and carve out a space large enough to hold everyone. There’s one catch, though. The space has to be anchored to someone’s shadow, and that person can’t enter the space themselves. If you let me attach the shadow space to your shadow, you could carry all of us out.”

“If you have this shadow space, why didn’t you carry everyone out yourself?” Han Wu asked.

An Yunian froze. It was true. He absolutely could have done it. The problem was that exposing himself on Paradise Island, where his dark attribute was crippled, would have painted a target on his back. The native creatures and the Light Faction’s hunters would’ve surely killed him long before he could escape, so he had never considered it.

Han Wu’s blunt question made things awkward for him. Having no answer, An Yunian said nothing.
