Chapter 966 - The Final King Lingray

The moment Han Wu entered the area of the mass graves, countless undead skeletons detected his living aura, grabbed whatever weapons they’d scavenged, and charged at him.

Han Wu activated Fire Breath Palm, engulfing the skeletons in flames and reducing many of them to ashes.

Plenty of First Form and even Second Form skeletons tanked the fire. Unfortunately for them, Han Wu’s physical attacks hit even harder. On top of that, he had the crystal greatsword strapped to his back. One swing from it had shattered even the Fourth Form Undead General, let alone these regular skeletons.

The virtually unstoppable Han Wu advanced step by step while the Desolation Manifestation searched for the strongest being in the mass graves, the Undead King.

Following the Desolation Manifestation’s guidance, Han Wu soon arrived at the Undead King’s burial site. It was far more lavish than the other skeletons’ graves, decorated with elaborate stone carvings and draped in gold and silver jewelry.

“Quite the extravagant one,” Han Wu remarked. “So, are you going to come out on your own, or do I have to drag you out?”

Sensing Han Wu’s aura, the Undead King emerged from its grave. Its bones were perfectly translucent, marking it as a Crystal Skeleton, the royal bloodline of the skeleton species.

A platinum crown sat atop its head, and it carried a scepter that burned with a dark purple flame. A cloak woven from death energy billowed behind it, radiating authority.

The Undead King raised its crystal skull. The spiritual fire burning in its eye sockets flickered as it sized Han Wu up. It could discern that Han Wu hadn’t even assembled a Third Form, meaning he would likely be weak.

It didn’t dare let its guard down, though. The Undead King could sense the catastrophic losses among the skeletons of the mass graves, and the only one around was this person without a Third Form.

“Human, what do you want?” the Undead King asked through its soul voice.

Han Wu responded with his own soul, “Nothing major. I just want you to leave this place and stop harassing Galewind City.”

His hand was already reaching for the crystal greatsword on his back, ready to fight, but the Undead King’s next actions caught him completely off guard.

Despite the unreasonable demand, the Undead King simply nodded and replied with its soul voice, “Fine.”

Han Wu was stunned. There was no way the Undead King was this agreeable.

“You’re not trying to trick me, are you?” Han Wu asked, eyeing it suspiciously.

The Undead King shook its head, the spiritual fire in its eye sockets burning steadily and calmly. “I’ve already figured out that you’re not a native of the White Soul Civilization. Your strength isn’t much, but the potential hidden inside your body is limitless. I’m not foolish enough to make an enemy of a promising outsider over a small city like Galewind.”

Han Wu was left speechless. This Undead King was clever. He couldn’t even find a reason to pick a fight with it.

“In that case, relocate as soon as possible. I have things to do, so I’ll be going.” Han Wu turned to leave, not at all worried about the Undead King betraying him. If anything, he was hoping it would. At least that would give him a reason to destroy it.

“Wait!” the Undead King called out.

Han Wu turned back, hand drifting toward the crystal greatsword. “What? You want to fight me after all?”

The Undead King frantically waved its hands, signaling that fighting wasn’t its intent. “I can sense the power contained in the greatsword on your back. Could you have some connection to the Final King Lingray? He’s been dead for many years, though.”

So, the diamond-shaped shards were actually connected to Lingray. It was strange, though, that a small place like Galewind City would have any link to him. If there really was a connection, Galewind City had certainly fallen on hard times.

“You have information about Lingray?” Han Wu asked.

He had yet to find any leads on the treasure the Death God King needed, and Lingray had been the strongest being in the White Soul Civilization’s history. Places connected to him were more likely to hold something valuable.

The Undead King nodded. “I know the location of Lingray’s tomb.”

Han Wu’s eyes lit up. Powerful beings were usually buried with treasures. The Death God King’s prize could very well be inside Lingray’s tomb.

Still, Han Wu remained cautious. The Undead King could have kept this information to itself, yet it chose to share. He didn’t believe for a second that it was just doing this out of the goodness of its heart. In fact, it didn’t even have a heart to begin with.

“Out with it. What’s it going to cost me?” Han Wu asked directly.

The spiritual fire in the Undead King’s eye sockets trembled, as if surprised. “I want to occupy the Lingray’s tomb, but my power alone isn’t enough, so I’d like to invite you to help. Once it’s done, you can pick whatever treasures you want from inside.”

Han Wu considered the proposal. Two fighters would make the job far easier than going alone. The Undead King was a Fifth Form being, theoretically stronger than him. Teaming up actually meant Han Wu was getting the better end of the deal.

The offer was tempting, but there was one concern. The Undead King’s character. It seemed friendly enough, but there was no way to tell if it would abandon Han Wu or even stab him in the back if real danger came.

One could know someone’s face but never truly know their heart. If Han Wu couldn’t fully trust the Undead King, it would be better not to cooperate at all.

The Undead King seemed to read his hesitation. “If you’re willing to explore the Lingray’s tomb with me, I’ll sign a Spiritual Contract with you.”

“Are you serious?” Han Wu asked skeptically.

A Spiritual Contract would bind the Undead King far more tightly than it would bind Han Wu. After all, it was an undead whose entire existence was its soul, while Han Wu’s life and soul held equal standing.

“Absolutely.” The Undead King raised a hand and produced a Spiritual Contract. It drafted the terms, clearly outlining how spoils would be divided. Once done, it attached a strand of its soul to the contract as a sign of agreement.

Han Wu took the contract and had the Desolation Manifestation inspect it. Surprisingly, there were no hidden catches. It was a clean, straightforward Spiritual Contract.

Satisfied, Han Wu attached his soul signature to the document as well. The contract was sealed. Until they conquered the tomb of Lingray, neither party could harm the other. Violation meant the destruction of the offender’s soul.

“Then let’s get moving,” Han Wu urged, barely containing his eagerness.

“No rush. Before we go, I think we should boost your strength a little,” the Undead King said, returning to its grave and coming back with a scroll.

It was another Form legacy.

When Han Wu took it, the scroll’s information flooded into his mind. This was the Third Form legacy, Swordwind!
