Chapter 1088 - Whose Bastard Child Are You?

The giant beside Han Wu saw him spit out the food and immediately realized its mistake. It dropped to one knee. “Please forgive us, esteemed guest. We were thoughtless and failed to treat you properly.”

At 1,000 meters tall, the giant was hardly small, but compared to Han Wu’s 100,000-meter frame, it looked practically tiny.

Han Wu could hardly see the giant clearly. He used a Mythic Titan ability to shrink by a hundredfold until he stood at eye level with the 1,000-meter giant.

The giant watched in awe as Han Wu freely altered his size. The ability to control one’s own body size was a sign of even higher status than they had assumed.

The giant looked at the food that Han Wu had spat out, its eyes filled with heartache. “Please don’t be upset, honored guest. We had no other choice. This was the only food we could offer.”

Han Wu furrowed his brow. The giant race was every bit as powerful as the Great Dragon race and ranked among the strongest races across the countless civilizations. They shouldn’t have been short on food. Yet everything about these giants screamed otherwise. Their food supply was clearly in crisis.

“Do you not have anything else to eat?” Han Wu asked.

The giant latched onto the question as if it had finally found someone to pour its heart out and launched into a tale of how its family went hungry for nine meals out of every three days.

The giants were immensely strong, but their territory had barren soil. Vast stretches of land had turned to desert. The few patches capable of growing crops were scattered far and wide, and land suitable for raising livestock was even scarcer. On top of that, a giant’s appetite scaled with its strength. The stronger the giant, the greater the appetite. Ordinary food couldn’t keep up with their demands.

Han Wu asked, “Why don’t you send your people to other civilizations and plunder their resources?”

The giant wailed harder. Barely any ordinary giants had the talent to manipulate the elements. Brute strength was all they had. Reaching a distant civilization on foot alone was a pipe dream. The only thing they could manage was raiding the closest neighbor, the Great Dragons. Whenever the giant population swelled too large, they’d launch a war against them.

The purpose was twofold. First, they thinned their own population and reduced the demand for food. Second, it allowed the survivors to seize resources from the Great Dragons.

Han Wu was stunned. He never would’ve guessed that the mighty giant race had fallen so far. From the giant’s explanation, however, he identified the root of the crisis: food. If the giants had enough to eat, they wouldn’t need to pick fights with the Great Dragons.

That made the path forward clear. If he could negotiate a solution to the giants’ food shortage with their deity, the wars would stop. That would solve the Great Dragons’ problem as well.

It was two birds with one stone. With his plan set, Han Wu didn’t linger. He left some food behind and continued deeper into giant territory.

The giant aura he radiated kept every giant he encountered from blocking his path. Whenever he got lost and asked for directions, they answered him with the utmost respect. It was all because of his height. At 100,000 meters tall, a giant of his stature had to have some connection to the giant nobility. He could even be the deity’s bastard child.

Word of Han Wu’s presence reached the giant leadership in no time. The upper echelons convened to discuss the matter, though the question wasn’t where he had come from. It was whose bastard child he was. A 100,000-meter-tall bastard would be a source of immense pride for any parent.

The debate went back and forth but reached no conclusion. Giants at the Microcosm rank stood over 10,000 meters tall. Subcosm giants stood at least 60,000 to 70,000 meters tall. Only the Giant Kings at the Mesocosm rank and the Giant Emperors at the Macrocosm rank could reach 100,000 meters.

There were only a limited number of Giant Kings and Giant Emperors, and every one of them denied having a bastard child. In the end, every pair of eyes turned toward the giant deity, the Heavenreach Titan.

The Heavenreach Titan declared immediately that Han Wu was absolutely not his child.

The giant leadership was rendered speechless. Nobody had asked him to claim the kid. They wanted him to make a decision!

After some deliberation, the Heavenreach Titan decided to bring Han Wu before them, verify his identity, and decide what to do from there.

The invitation reached Han Wu soon afterward. That was exactly what he had been hoping for.

When he arrived at the Heavenreach Titan’s palace, he found an open-air structure without a roof. That way, no giant had to duck or stoop to enter. The downside was obvious: rain poured in, and snow piled up inside. Compared to the Great Dragons’ Essence Gold architecture, this place looked downright impoverished.

Standing 100,000 meters tall, Han Wu looked up at the giant leaders who towered even higher above him. What did these fellows eat to grow this big? Giants are all roughly the same size at birth.

The giants had no idea what was going through Han Wu’s head.

One of the Giant Emperors addressed him directly. “Whose bastard child are you?”

The question blindsided Han Wu. Did showing up as a Mythic Titan automatically make him some giant leader’s illegitimate offspring? What kind of logic was that?

“I’m not anyone’s bastard,” he answered calmly.

“A feral giant!” the Heavenreach Titan exclaimed.

Han Wu’s fists tightened. You’re the feral one. Your whole family’s feral![refEven your cow is feral![/ref]

If the Heavenreach Titan weren’t strong enough to rival the Nine-Faced Dragon God, Han Wu would’ve given him a piece of his mind.

The giants took his silence as an acknowledgement, and another Giant Emperor asked, “What’s your purpose in coming to our territory?”

Han Wu had been waiting for that question. “Actually, I’m here to help the giant race eat their fill.”

Every giant leader in the room sat up straight. They had struggled against hunger since the dawn of the race’s existence. Of its population of 1.1 billion, at least 800 million went hungry on a regular basis. The issue had tormented the Heavenreach Titan for ages.

Could Han Wu actually solve it all on his own?
