The Reincarnated Hitman

Chapter 54: The Cleaners

The moment Liam realized that the isolated space had been infiltrated, his hair immediately turned white, and a gas mask covered his face.

The person turned to him, and he realized that this was a bigger headache than he initially thought.

After all, the person who had entered the isolated space was Volt, a HA hero.

Given that there was a dead body lying here, he was certain that the hero would want to bring him in.

There was also the fact that Zero had his hand on the katana, which made it seem as if he was the Villain here.

"What the hell is happening here?" Volt let out as he looked at the three.

But before anything else could be said, the man with white hair suddenly said to the man in suit, "Don’t breathe in."

Volt was confused by what he meant, but the next second, a canister appeared in the man’s hand, and he simply dropped it on the floor.

Volt expected some kind of gas to come from it, but he was confused even more when he noticed that nothing was coming out.

"..."

Did it malfunction, maybe?

[Volt, are you okay?] Emily’s voice came from the other end of his earpiece.

"Yeah," the hero muttered, "I made it into the isolated space, but.... huh?"

He suddenly felt his eyes getting heavier by the second, and the figure in front of him was suddenly wobbly.

Volt finally realized that the canister had indeed let out some type of gas....it was just invisible, so he couldn’t see it.

[...olt!]

Emily’s voice sounded a lot more distant now, even though she was basically in his ears.

The last thing he noticed was a pair of glowing grey eyes before he completely blacked out.

Zero looked at the hero collapse to the floor before turning back to the lawyer-like bounty hunter and asked, "Where were we?"

The bounty hunter’s eyes were wide open as he looked at how easy it was for Zero to deal with a hero that was a rank above them.

Which meant that he had deliberately allowed their fight to happen.

With trembling lips, he answered, "We were making a deal."

"Oh, right!" Zero let out as he caused the canister to disappear, though he still maintained the knockout gas within the hero.

"I want you to keep this isolated space until this mess is dealt with," he continued, "do that, and I won’t kill you."

The bounty hunter realized that their target was making that deal because he didn’t want his identity to be found out, which meant that he could use this to his adv—

"If you try anything funny, I could just change my face, kill you, and no one will know who killed you." his thoughts were immediately cut off when Zero spoke up again.

The hitman had noticed the expression on his face, one that he had seen countless times in his past life, so he immediately knew that the man was planning something.

The lawyer-like man nodded, discarding any thought of being smart or trying to turn this situation in his favor.

He’d do that later; for now, he had to ensure that he survived.

Besides, with how much information he now had on Zero’s civilian identity, he was certain that someone would be willing to pay quite the amount for it.

Zero let out a sigh before taking his phone out of his pocket and immediately dialing Sable.

The phone rang for a while before the agent answered, "The cleaners are already on their way."

Zero wasn’t surprised that the man already knew what kind of situation, after all, he had noticed his people around him quite a few times.

"Thank you," he simply said.

Zero suddenly paused, looked at the lawyer-like bounty hunter as he asked Sable, "And you also sent someone responsible for discarding trash?"

"..." The agent was silent for a while before saying, "You’re paying."

"Gasp," Zero let out dramatically, "I thought I was your favorite hitman, why are you mistreating me so?"

"..."

Sable went silent on the other end...or rather, he quickly ended the call.

He would not allow the kid to rip him off again, so he ended the call for the safety of his finances.

"Now, we wait," Zero muttered as he looked at the bounty hunter with a smile on his face, "in the meantime, why don’t we get to know each other....hmmm?"

It didn’t take long for the cleaners to reach the mall, and without much struggle, they calmly walked into the isolated space.

Even Zero was quite impressed by this....after all, this was an entirely different space altogether and without the lawyer-like man’s permission, it was almost impossible to access.

The hitman finally had the chance to look at the group that had been cleaning after him.

There were four of them, each dressed in blue overalls with different colored T-shirts beneath.

On their hands were gloves and tools that they would be using to clean the scene.

One of them was a girl with a head full of pink hair and an overall that wasn’t strapped to his shoulders... Instead, she used it as pants whilst she wore a pink shirt.

She immediately beamed as she spotted the white-haired man before he quickly closed the distance and asked, "You must be Zero!"

She extended her hand before saying, "I’m a huge fan."

"A fan?" Zero was quite confused, given that he hadn’t done enough to become popular just yet, so how the hell had he even gotten fans?

But the girl frantically nodded her head, a blush appearing on her cheeks and her pink eyes seemed to glow as she explained, "I’m a fan of the way you kill."

"Your cuts are sooo clean that it almost looks like a work of art," she cupped her cheeks with both hands, "even when using a bullet, you hardly make a mess of the body."

"Ah... you’re one of those," Zero finally realized, causing him to let out a chuckle.

But before the pink-haired girl could continue, a hand suddenly grabbed her by the collar and lifted her away from the hitman.

The pink-haired girl pouted as she kicked her legs in the air.

"Boss! Put me down!"

The one holding her was a broad-shouldered man with long brown hair streaked with gray at the temples.

Unlike the others, his blue overalls were neatly fastened, and he had every necessary cleaning gear.

He let out a tired sigh before looking at Zero.

"I’m sorry about her," the man apologized.

"I don’t mind," Zero shook his head, "but I’d appreciate it if this was quickly cleaned; I’ve got some shopping to go back to."

The boss simply nodded before answering,

"Right away."
