The Reincarnated Hitman

Liam let out a sigh as he looked at the two bounty hunters before him.

He hadn’t expected them to find him so soon, especially since he was certain that he had ensured no one made a connection between Zero and him.

Unfortunately, it seemed he had missed something, and now this tiger person had used that to track him.

He looked at the bounty hunters before saying, "You wouldn’t happen to want to do this another time, would you?"

"I happen to have some shopping to do."

The two looked at him for a while before chuckling.

"You’re funny," the tiger man said as he crouched lower.

The next second, without warning, he launched himself towards his target.

Thanks to his Factor, his speed and strength were comfortably at a superhuman level, added to the fact that he basically possessed all the advantages of a tiger.

Unfortunately, his speed was lacking compared to someone who could comfortably dodge bullets.

Liam simply moved to the side, calmly avoiding the attack.

The tiger man looked at him with annoyance. By all means, his claw should’ve cleanly connected with Zero’s head, but the man had dodged with barely any effort.

Zero, on the other hand, was estimating their ranks.

At best, they were at Gamma rank, but he was completely certain that they weren’t above Delta.

Otherwise, this fight would’ve felt a lot more dangerous than it currently did.

The lawyer-like man wasn’t attacking, which meant that he had to focus to maintain the isolated space.

That also meant that he only had to worry about the tiger man.

Speaking of which, Zero turned towards his attacker and noticed that he was charging something.

Unfortunately, he realized that too late, because the next second, the man with the tiger Factor suddenly opened his mouth,

ROAR!

Zero was hit by an invisible wave after the roar, forcing his body to freeze in place, even though he was completely unafraid.

’A stun?’ he thought to himself, as he tried and failed to move his body.

"Got you," the tiger man said with a grin, and the next second, he disappeared.

Or rather, he moved so fast that he seemed to have disappeared.

He reappeared a small distance away from his target with a grin still on his face as he swung his claws.

Slash!

The tiger man suddenly froze as his claws seemed to hit... nothing?

Zero wasn’t in front of him anymore, as he had also disappeared.

"That was quite close." The tiger’s instincts suddenly went haywire as he quickly jumped back.

Unfortunately, he turned around to see that no one was where he previously stood; instead, a voice suddenly came from his back again.

"Sit."

All he saw in the next moment was the Mall’s floor getting closer by the second, before—

BOOM!

His vision went white as his head was slammed into the floor, almost knocking him out cold.

But instead of finishing off the tiger man, Liam simply jumped back just in time to avoid three throwing knives that landed exactly where he previously was.

"I was wondering when you’d join in," he said, turning toward the suited man.

The lawyer-like bounty hunter calmly lowered his outstretched hand before answering, "I had hoped Mr. Stripes would be enough."

"Clearly not," Liam replied with a shrug.

The man was still maintaining the isolated space, but he also could let the one acting as his muscles die.

Stripes finally moved his head out of the crater before letting out, "Ow.."

His head and nose were now bleeding, but he was mostly fine thanks to his durability.

After all, beast-Type Factors granted impressive durability along with their enhanced physiques.

The suited man glanced at him.

"Can you still fight?"

Stripes rubbed the back of his head as he muttered, "Yeah."

The lawyer-like man just nodded before reaching into his coat, but instead of a gun, he pulled out what looked like a spool of thin wire.

At first glance, it looked like a fishing line, but on closer inspection, Liam noticed that it was steel wire.

And they were so small that it was almost invisible, especially when light wasn’t hitting it at a specific angle.

The suited man hooked one end around his index finger before flicking his wrist, and the wire shot through the air, wrapping itself around a nearby pillar.

Liam finally understood what the man was hoping to achieve.

Since Zero seemed to be able to easily escape from Stripes, they decided to restrict how far he could move.

All things considered, it was a great plan... if their opponent wasn’t Zero.

"Points for creativity," Liam said, "unfortunately, this won’t work on me."

Instead of a reply, Stripes suddenly crouched again before lunging at him, his claws extended forward.

But this time, instead of retreating, Zero simply stepped forward, avoided the claw, and grabbed his attacker by the neck.

The next second,

BOOM!

Stripes found himself back on the ground, but before he had the chance to recover, he noticed a katana moving towards his head.

The last thing he heard from Zero was, "Goodnight."

After that, the katana cleanly went through his head, snuffing the life out of him.

The lawyer-like man’s eyes were wide in horror.

He was still maintaining the strings and isolated space, but he very clearly knew that he was next.

He had expected Zero to dodge Stripes just as he had done previously, only to be caught in the strings.

Unfortunately, things hadn’t gone as intended, and now, his partner was dead.

"So, how about we make a deal?" Zero looked directly at the man in a suit as he smiled.

The man contemplated for a second; he could try causing the strings to close in on his target, but given Zero’s speed, he knew that would be useless.

With a sigh, he put his hand down, releasing the strings around him before asking, "What kind of deal?"

"I’ll let you live if you keep up the isolated space for a while—"

Crash!

Before Zero had the chance to complete his words, something broke into the isolated space, and he could only let out an annoyed sigh as the person spoke.

"Don’t worry, citizen," the person started, "Volt is here to save you."
