Chapter 61: A Bit Of Progress
Olivia had a dark frown on her face as she walked through the inner parts of the HA with another woman in a formal suit walking by her.
The woman had purple hair and eyes, and her expression was just as dark as Olivia’s.
She was Radiance’s Agent, Raika Tachibana.
The two were pissed because of the headache of an interview Radiance just attended.
Instead of trying to find out why she temporarily took a break from heroism after apprehending ’Rock hard’, the idiots were only interested in whatever relationship was between her and Valor.
It wasn’t surprising that two of the top heroes in the country were being shipped by many different people, but it had gotten so bad that it was the only thing that the media was interested in.
Hell, even Radiance’s mother was only interested in that.
"I just feel like strangling them all and sending lightning down their throats," Raika said as she tried strangling the air.
This caused Olivia to chuckle before saying, "You’ll lose your license if you do that."
"Damn it," Raika let out as she put her hands down.
The two were silent for a while before she spoke up again, "The only way to end this is for you to start dating someone."
Olivia paused and considered her agent’s words for a while before shaking her head. "Radiance is the one who needs to date someone for this to end, not Olivia."
"Besides," she looked ahead of them, "I can’t just start dating someone I don’t like."
"True," Raika nodded, placing a hand on her chin, "there’s also the fact that you hardly ever interact with the opposite gender."
Speaking of interacting with the opposite gender, the only man she had become comfortable around was Liam.
Thinking of him made her suddenly recall when he said she looked cuter with a smile, which in turn caused her to blush.
Raika looked at Olivia for a while, confused that she was suddenly blushing when a realization dawned on her.
"Oh," She let out, stopping in her tracks, "ohhhh!"
Raika then pointed at Olivia before saying, "You’re thinking about him, aren’t —"
She didn’t get the chance to complete her words when a voice suddenly called out,
"Olivia??"
Raika turned towards the person, and a grin immediately appeared on her face.
Olivia, on the other hand, immediately froze as she heard Liam’s voice. Slowly, she turned towards the direction where the voice had come from and realized that it truly was Liam.
Raika was about to say something before a hand was slapped over her mouth as Olivia whispered, "You do know that he doesn’t know that I’m Radiance, right?"
"Ah, that’s right," the agent muttered and composed herself.
She had looked into Liam before, mostly because she wanted to make sure that he wasn’t someone suspicious.
But all she found out was that he was the oldest of three siblings, their parents had died five years ago, and he was now responsible for the kids.
Raika also found out that Liam’s sister was kidnapped by a Villain group, but fortunately, the hero detective, Riley, had led a rescue mission.
After the incident, an HA insurance firm established to assist citizens affected by villain attacks provided the siblings with enough money to start their lives over.
Or at least that’s what the files told her.
It also seems that Detective Riley had taken interest in the siblings, as she had been the one to apply for the investment grant.
Overall, he wasn’t anyone suspicious; he was just a man who had endured a hard life and was finally catching a lucky break.
She also learnt that he was genuinely a nice person, and perhaps that’s why Olivia was able to get comfortable with him so fast.
But...this was a chance to tease Radiance, and Raika wasn’t going to let it pass, after all, that would probably put her in a different mood than the shitty interview.
"You didn’t tell me your new friend was this handsome," the agent said the moment Olivia moved her hand away from her mouth.
Olivia could only glare at her in response, but couldn’t stop her from talking again, since she’d just look suspicious.
The trio... well, quartet, if Volt was to be counted, walked towards the two with Liam feigning surprise.
Had he expected to meet her here today? Not really.
But he also wasn’t surprised that she was here. The hitman smiled internally, wondering how she’d explain her presence here.
"What are you guys doing here?" Olivia asked.
"Well," Liam turned towards Lea and said, "she awakened and wants to join the Hero Academy."
"I see," Olivia nodded, hoping that he wouldn’t ask the same... Unfortunately, he did.
Or rather, before he could ask, Volt suddenly spoke up, "You look familiar."
Raika was tempted to shock the idiot, but that would only make the three even more suspicious.
Fortunately, Volt didn’t recognize Olivia as Radiance; rather,
"You’re Radiance’s friend?" He said.
"Huh?" Olivia let out in confusion.
"Well, I did see you coming out of her preparation area once, so I thought you two were friends," the hero explained.
"R-right," Olivia immediately held on to that lifeline, "I’m here to see her."
"I think you just missed her," Volt placed a hand on his chin, "I heard she was in an interview a few minutes ago, but she might’ve already left."
"I see, thanks for the info," Olivia nodded appreciation.
Liam, on the other hand, was trying his hardest not to let out a laugh.
Olivia really was a bad liar...but he wouldn’t call her out just yet; instead, he turned towards Raika and said, "Hi, I’m Olivia’s new neighbor."
Raika took his hand before responding, "She told me a lot about you; what she didn’t tell me, though, was that you were this handsome."
Olivia immediately looked back at her agent, who had a small grin on her face.
"Raika."
"What?" the agent asked innocently, "I’m only saying the truth."
"Well, thank you," Liam answered with a smile of his own, "and I have to admit, you’re quite beautiful yourself."
"Oh?" Raika placed a hand on her cheek as her smile widened, "turns out you’re also a charmer."
Before anything else could be said between the two, Olivia suddenly said, "You said you were here to get Lea registered at the Hero Academy?"
"Yeah," Liam nodded...it seems he had made a bit of progress, "since Radiance is not around right now, want to come with us?"
Olivia looked at him and then at Eli, who was also nodding, before saying,
"Alright."
