Chapter 748 - 697: Overestimating One’s Capabilities! (1)
CRASH!
As the Wolf King plummeted uncontrollably, the frigid snow was sent flying. The ground, covered in several centimeters of snow, sank deep as his massive body slammed into it, creating a crater nearly a meter deep.
But the assault did not stop there.
High above, Qin Fan sneered. Holding the Zen Stick vertically, he descended rapidly, aiming its base to stab down into the crater. His vast Golden Core True Yuan surged, causing the Evil Spirit Zen Stick to hum with an intense, excited vibration. As a high-grade Magic Artifact with its own Spiritual Sense, it also bore a deep grudge against the Wolf King, who had just tried to use it to smash its master.
However, before Qin Fan could land, a fiery red figure pounced.
Earl Geman swept out with sharp nails dozens of centimeters long. His ghostly speed was nearly impossible to track. In the blink of an eye, waves of blood-red armor shadows, radiating a chilling Qi Force, enveloped Qin Fan. Following these shadows, the weightless Earl Geman bared his terrifying tusks, his eyes locked on his target with grim determination.
He knew he couldn’t actually threaten Qin Fan with these armor shadows. He was merely buying time, just a moment to get close.
"Obstinate fool. I was going to let you live a little longer!" Qin Fan scoffed, ignoring the approaching armor shadows. "Since you’re so eager to die, fine! This Heavenly Venerate will grant your wish!"
With a shout of disgust, he paused his descent. He swung the Evil Spirit Zen Stick, sweeping it with majestic power toward the surging apparitions.
FWOOSH!
As the Zen Stick, imbued with the power of the Golden Core, swept out, it created a ripple in space. Upon impact with this wave of energy, the countless armor shadows instantly vanished.
But at that very moment, Earl Geman was upon him!
"Die!"
Aiming his shining tusks at the artery in Qin Fan’s neck, Earl Geman’s dreadful Ghost Armor whipped about him like vines, poised to tear him apart.
But how could Qin Fan give him such an opportunity?
"Get lost! You overestimate yourself!"
With a disdainful snort, just as the Ghost Armor was about to make contact, Qin Fan viciously swung the Evil Spirit Zen Stick at Geman’s head. At the critical instant, Geman instinctively twisted his head aside. He couldn’t, however, completely evade the Zen Stick as it followed through and slammed into his shoulder.
BANG!
His entire shoulder blade was pulverized. With a muffled grunt, Earl Geman was smashed to the ground.
"Do you think I’m like the other vampires? Let me tell you, I have an Undying Body! An Undying Body!" Even after being struck down by the Zen Stick, Earl Geman merely skidded a few steps across the snow. His crushed shoulder was already regenerating at an unnaturally rapid rate. "After today, I will personally go to Huaxia and sacrifice the lives of every last one of your relatives to appease the souls of the thousands of my vampire kin!"
Staring at Qin Fan, who was still hovering in midair, Earl Geman burst into savage laughter.
"Hmm?"
A blow with eighty percent of my strength only forced him back a few steps?
Seeing this, Qin Fan’s brow furrowed. He knew that a single strike from the Zen Stick had previously been enough to vaporize other vampires instantly. Yet, against Earl Geman, it was a trivial blow?
For the first time, Qin Fan took Earl Geman’s claim of having an Undying Body seriously. Indeed, those who rose to become titans of the dark world were never ordinary.
But so what? Undying or not, under the might of his Golden Core, the outcome was still certain death.
"Not bad. I seem to have underestimated you," Qin Fan said. "I originally thought these so-called titans of darkness were just worthless insects, but it turns out you have some tricks up your sleeve."
ROAR!
However, just as Qin Fan’s disdainful words faded, a thunderous wolf howl erupted from the crater, so powerful it seemed to shake the very heavens.
The next moment...
BANG! BANG! BANG!
From within the pit, clumps of earth and snow exploded upward. Amidst the flying debris, the Wolf King’s body burst forth from the ground! Humiliated and enraged, his will to fight blazed to a frenzied peak.
After roaring, he didn’t immediately attack Qin Fan. Instead, he tilted his head back toward the faintly crimson sky. The aura of a Wild Beast blossomed forth from him, radiating into the heavens.
AWOO! AWOO! AWOO!
His upturned head once again let out a howl that shook the land for miles around.
Under his mournful cries, a full moon abruptly appeared in the sky without warning. Hanging in the reddish expanse, its pure moonlight shone down fiercely. Bathed in its light, the Wolf King stood motionless, absorbing the sacred, silvery beams.
Soon, as his fur drank in the moonlight, it began a strange transformation. His massive, fearsome body was enveloped in a White Light. Then, he seemed to dissolve into his surroundings, becoming one with the vast expanse. From head to toe, he was now pure white.
At the same time, Earl Geman also threw his head back and opened his mouth, emitting a series of eerie, shrill cries.
SKREEE! SKREEE! SKREEE!
One shriek after another escaped his lips. Under the moonlight, his humanoid form began to transform rapidly. His body slowly rose into the air as disgusting scales erupted from his skin. His eyes, ears, mouth, and nose grew longer and sharper. A few moments later, he no longer bore any resemblance to a normal human. He was the very image of a terrifying humanoid bat.
Hovering in midair, Qin Fan watched the grotesque transformations of the Wolf King and Earl Geman, his brow tightly furrowed. While he could understand the Werewolf’s mutation, Earl Geman’s transformation into a humanoid bat was beyond his comprehension.
He now understood. Everything before this had just been a warm-up.
The true battle of life and death was only just beginning.
On a skyscraper rooftop nearly a kilometer from the battlefield, Li Tiandao stood with his hands clasped behind his back. A playful smirk curved his lips as he watched the scene unfold.
"The real show is about to start," Li Tiandao chuckled, masking his presence.
"Master, do you think Qin Fan can survive their combined attack?" Xiao Er asked in a grave tone, standing behind him and gazing at the distant battlefield.
If anyone else had heard him, they would have laughed at his ignorance. Survive the combined assault of the Wolf King and Earl Geman? What a joke! Impossible!
Yet, Xiao Er’s uncertain and somber tone showed that he held some measure of faith in Qin Fan, however unrealistic it seemed even to him.
"I don’t know. It’s hard to say right now. Let’s watch," Li Tiandao said, lightly shaking his head with a faint smile. "If he can survive the combined attack of the Wolf King and Geman, then he’ll be qualified to be my opponent. I hope he can provide me with some entertainment in the days to come. Heh."
The implication was clear: only by withstanding the combined might of the Werewolf and Geman could someone barely qualify as his opponent. It was a statement of such extreme arrogance that surely no other person in the entire world would dare to utter it.
