Chapter 747 - 696: You’ve Angered Me! (4)
It had to be said that Qin Fan had, ultimately, underestimated his foes.
Even if he refused to admit it, this was a simple matter of human instinct. His previous instant kills and the complete annihilation of his enemies in a single wave had led him to view the inhabitants of this secular world as nothing more than ants.
This is a common sentiment, however. While saying a Golden Core Cultivator could destroy a city with a flip of his hand is an exaggeration, if one truly intended to cause destruction, a single Golden Core master could plunge an entire nation into a state of near-apocalyptic paralysis.
Yet, lost in the arrogance typical of a cultivator, Qin Fan had overlooked one crucial point. He was a peerless Golden Core Cultivator. A full display of his Cultivation could throw the world into chaos. Yet, he was ignoring one fundamental truth of the Heavenly Dao: whatever exists is reasonable.
He had been reborn on Earth, able to sweep through the world with his Golden Core Cultivation. This was all part of fate’s design. And if it was designed, it had to be rational. If it was rational, then one concept was unavoidable—for every being, there exists a nemesis.
Qin Fan should have realized this back in Jinling when he faced the werewolf leader.
Unfortunately, the ease with which he slew the werewolf leader prevented him from pondering the matter further. That was when the first sign of the werewolves’ slight immunity to him had appeared, but he had failed to notice it.
Now, the problem had magnified exponentially. The Wolf King, unleashing his own power, had managed to grab the Evil Spirit Zen Staff right out of his hands, even under the pressure of his True Yuan.
After the Wolf King seized the Evil Spirit Zen Staff, he did not cast it aside. Instead, he unleashed the Wild Beast Qi Force, an energy that even masters of Huaxia’s Martial Arts God Realm would be loath to face head-on. With the terrifying might of the Beast King, he viciously smashed the staff back toward Qin Fan.
BOOM!
The Evil Spirit Zen Staff, possessing its own Spiritual Sense, knew what was coming the moment the Wolf King counterattacked. It trembled violently in a desperate show of resistance. However, it still could not withstand the encroachment of the Beast King’s power. In the blink of an eye, it was rendered helpless as the Wolf King brutally slammed it into the Prison Suppressing Light radiating from Qin Fan’s Prison Suppressing Body.
An ear-splitting explosion erupted. Under the Wolf King’s blow, the Prison Suppressing Light around Qin Fan rapidly contracted.
"To think your meager strength could slaughter dozens of my Wolf Generals! I should have stepped in and killed you myself earlier! Despicable! Despicable! DESPICABLE!"
Even though the staff had not instantly shattered Qin Fan’s Green Light defense, the Wolf King felt he had accurately gauged his opponent’s strength. He gnashed his teeth and bellowed with uncontrollable fury.
"Die!"
Without waiting for a response, the boundless might of the Beast King surged forth once more.
SWISH!
The Green Light of the Prison Suppressing Body abruptly vanished. The same scene from Jinling, when he faced the werewolf leader, was repeating itself. At this moment, Qin Fan finally remembered the clue he had previously ignored!
"You have angered me!"
His brow furrowed, radiating a palpable chill. As he spoke, his Eyes of Golden Flame flared to life.
"AHHHH!"
As Qin Fan’s words fell, the Wolf King’s glowing green pupils met the golden light bursting from his eyes and constricted violently. His Wild Beast Qi Force dissipated in an instant, and his hands went slack. Experiencing a forgotten agony, he turned his head and howled.
The moment the Wolf King released the staff, Qin Fan swiftly reclaimed the Evil Spirit Zen Staff.
Unfortunately, before he could bring it crashing down on the Wolf King, Earl Geman lunged forward.
"Today, I will offer your blood as a sacrifice to my thousands of blood disciples!"
Amidst a roar of pure hatred, Earl Geman clenched his fists. His sharp nails pierced his own palms, drawing blood. The instant blood flowed, he raised his hand and flicked it viciously at Qin Fan.
SQUEAK! SQUEAK! SQUEAK!
The next second, tens of thousands of semi-ethereal blood bats appeared out of thin air. They flapped their disgusting wings, baring sharp tusks and letting out ear-piercing, unsettling squeals as they swarmed toward Qin Fan, blotting out the sky.
Faced with the endless swarm of bats that obscured the moon, Qin Fan felt a surge of irritable rage. It was the kind of infuriating frustration a peerless master feels when faced with the petty, underhanded tricks of two insignificant minions.
If his Prison Suppressing Body hadn’t been broken by the Wolf King, Qin Fan would have simply ignored these disgusting creatures; a simple backlash would have been enough to annihilate them. But now, he had to expend another wave of True Qi.
"Noisy!" he thundered, his voice low.
Then, Qin Fan shouted another command. "Earth Evil forty-second form, Dust Devouring Bite!"
As he yelled, he tossed the Evil Spirit Zen Staff high into the air. His hands then intertwined, twisting into a sealing gesture. As the seal formed, his Mixed Element True Qi exploded forth. When his shout ended, he swung his sealed hands out wide.
A mighty Qi Force, powerful enough to instantaneously drop the air temperature by dozens of degrees, blasted out. It swept through the thousands of oncoming bats in a wave of absolute devastation.
SQUEAK! SQUEAK! SQUEAK!
The hideously unsettling squeaks rose again, but this time they were filled with endless, abject terror. Countless blood bats instinctively tried to turn and flee. But now that Qin Fan had deployed his Earth Evil Divine Power, how could he possibly give them such a chance?
Just as the blood bats turned their wings to escape, the vast wave of frigid power engulfed them. The squeaking stopped abruptly. The figures of the thousands of blood bats froze in place.
SIZZLE... SIZZLE...
A sound like dissolving followed. A breath later, the tens of thousands of blood bats that had appeared from nowhere vanished into thin air.
At the same time, Qin Fan swept his hand through the air. The Evil Spirit Zen Staff, seemingly communicating with his spirit, flew back into his palm.
Temporarily ignoring Earl Geman, Qin Fan clutched the Evil Spirit Zen Staff once more and launched himself toward the Wolf King.
"Vile beast, take another strike from this Heavenly Venerate!"
With a furious roar, Qin Fan unleashed seventy percent of his Qi Force. Gripping the Evil Spirit Zen Staff with both hands, he brought it smashing down on the Wolf King, who had yet to recover from the assault on his eyes.
Golden Core True Qi radiated from the descending staff. The airflow in the sky seemed to halt. The sound of its descent was like the very air being torn asunder.
BOOM!
Not daring to meet Qin Fan’s gaze again, the Wolf King reflexively shot out a claw, intending to catch and control the Evil Spirit Zen Staff as he had before. But he was not going to get that chance again.
The chasm between using less than fifty percent of his Qi Force and seventy percent was as vast as that between heaven and earth.
When the Wolf King’s claw once again closed around the staff, it began to buzz and tremble. This time, however, it was nothing like when he had taken control. Amidst the violent vibrations, a potent True Qi surged through the staff and clashed forcefully with the werewolf’s Wild Beast Qi Force.
CRACK! CRACK!
A crisp, breaking sound erupted from the arm the Wolf King had used to catch the staff. His hulking, giant-like frame was smashed heavily downward by the Evil Spirit Zen Staff, his ferocious face contorting as he clenched a mouthful of revolting tusks.
"Oh? Still holding on?" Qin Fan hummed, raising an eyebrow in surprise.
He applied another layer of force.
BOOM!
This time, the Wolf King could no longer resist. His massive body crashed thunderously into the snowy ground.
