Chapter 714 - 665: Learned from the Chip! (1)
In the following days, Qin Fan set aside everything unrelated to his family. He didn’t intervene or question whether any sparks had ignited at Ma Yunbin and Chen Yunyun’s dinner.
During the day, he and Yinuo accompanied his parents, younger sister, and Aunt Lan on a tour of Jiangzhou. At night, he and Yinuo slept together under the same quilt.
「Early morning, January 4th.」
On the last day of the New Year’s holiday, Qin Fan and Jiang Yino took the earliest flight out. An hour later, they left the airport and got into a pre-booked car, heading straight for Jinling University.
"Yinuo, I’m not going in with you. I have some things to take care of," Qin Fan said with a faint smile, his hands resting on Jiang Yino’s arms.
"Things to take care of? How long are you leaving for this time?" Jiang Yino asked forlornly, a resentful look surfacing on her face.
She didn’t ask what he had to do, only how long he would be gone. This alone was a testament to her great wisdom.
"It might be a while! If you miss me, give me a call! As long as I’m not busy, I promise to make time to romance you! Be good, and wait for your hubby to come back and take you flying to the heavens again!" Qin Fan said with a wicked grin.
"Jerk! Watch what you say!" Hearing this, Jiang Yino instinctively glanced around, as if the awkward incident on the plane was still haunting her.
"I am being careful! Alright, Yinuo, that’s all. Wait for my return!" As he spoke, Qin Fan leaned in and tenderly kissed her forehead.
He knew perfectly well that Jiang Yino didn’t want him to leave, but he had no choice. The next part of his itinerary was already set in stone and unavoidable.
"Okay, then... go! Be careful! Don’t make me wait too long! I’m afraid I’ll start to panic!" she said, looking into his tender eyes, her voice full of sorrow and reluctance.
"Then I’m off!"
With that, he turned and walked away coolly as she watched. She kept her eyes on his departing figure until it vanished completely. Only then did she sigh, turn around, and walk forlornly back onto campus.
Instead of taking any transportation, Qin Fan unleashed his full, unreserved Golden Core speed as soon as he was clear of Jinling University. He streaked past the towering mountains on either side of the highway, as fast as a meteor. In less than half an hour, he reached the Shenzhen customs checkpoint that connected to Xiangjiang.
"Did something just flash past?" a checkpoint security officer asked, his eyes wide with shock.
"Damn, didn’t you sleep well last night? Nothing flashed by," another officer retorted.
"I really felt a gust of wind sweep by!" the first officer insisted, turning to look in the other direction, but he saw nothing.
"Xiao Li, you must be hallucinating from exhaustion! HAHA, we know you’ve got a pretty demanding girlfriend recently, but you still have to pace yourself! Don’t let her drain you dry! HAHA!" another officer teased.
"Could it really have been my imagination?" that officer muttered to himself, shaking his head.
「Meanwhile.」
Qin Fan slipped past the customs checkpoint. Once he set foot in Xiangjiang, he slowed down.
He didn’t bother calling to find out where Lai Zhuge was. Facing the bustling Xiangjiang Island, his Divine Sense instantly spread out. After locking onto Lai Zhuge’s aura, he began to walk at a leisurely pace. The relaxed smile on his face suggested he was in no hurry to deal with the Demon Dragon’s energy and was more interested in taking a tour of the famed metropolis, one of the Four Asian Tigers.
「Xiangjiang, Central.」
「Thirty-Third Floor.」
Inside a skyscraper in the bustling city center, a large conference room was filled with people.
"Lai Shenxiang, it’s been four days! The reinforcements you mentioned are still nowhere to be seen. The Demon Dragon’s energy will spread tomorrow, and you’re still telling us to hold back? I can’t help but question Jiangzhou’s intentions in this matter!" a sharply dressed young man in his thirties scoffed from across the tense room.
"Master Zhou is right!" another Master from Xiangjiang complained, his face flush with displeasure. "You all arrived here on the first, and now it’s the fourth. The Demon Dragon’s energy is about to erupt, yet you haven’t done anything. Instead, you’re holding us back! What are you playing at? If you don’t want to be involved, just say so! We in Xiangjiang aren’t begging for your help, but there’s no need to play games like this!"
"That’s right, what are you people from Jiangzhou thinking?"
"Do you really think this is a vacation trip to Xiangjiang?"
"It’s one thing if you won’t help, but why go out of your way to stop us from acting? What are your real intentions?"
"You’d better give us an explanation today!"
The two factions were seated on opposite sides of the conference table: the Magic Masters from Xiangjiang on one side, and those from Jiangzhou on the other.
In the face of these accusations, the Masters from Jiangzhou all sat with grim, gloomy expressions.
Screw this! If we weren’t worried about the Demon Dragon’s energy spreading to the mainland, we wouldn’t have bothered wading into this mess. To think our goodwill is being treated with such contempt! Damn it!
Suddenly, before Lai Zhuge’s group could respond, the conference room door was pushed open. A voice dripping with mockery and ridicule cut through the tension.
"Alright, that’s enough of your endless goddamn whining! Go on, then! No one is stopping you!"
