Chapter 1251: Shen Yuan’s Strangeness
Shen Yuan stood in front of the room for a moment. He seemed to be preparing himself for whatever would happen next and took a deep breath before releasing it. He spread his spiritual sense inside carefully to check if there was anyone present.
He did not sense anyone inside, but he did not lower his guard. He knew that the people he was facing were powerful assassins who were masters at concealing their presence.
However, he raised his eyebrows when he instead sensed a presence in the next room. He turned his head toward room 1243. It was not his intention to sense the next room, but he could clearly feel the presence there.
A figure.
It was as if this person wanted to be sensed and was deliberately allowing themselves to be detected. This made him even more wary, as it meant that this figure was aware of his presence and seemed to be challenging him to enter the room.
If that was the case, then whoever was inside must have realized why he was here. Although it sounded arrogant, he did not find it strange. He did not know what kind of person the assassin was, so he could not judge whether this was only an arrogance or if this person had another purpose for allowing themselves to be sensed by him.
He slowly walked to the next room and stopped in front of the door.
After a few moments of adjusting himself, he wanted to knock on the door, but before he could do so, the door suddenly opened slightly.
He was slightly stunned, but he soon pushed the door open.
The moment the door fully opened, he saw the luxurious interior. He carefully entered and closed the door behind him. He walked deeper into the room and finally saw a figure standing near the balcony window.
The figure was clearly a man with long black hair. His back was facing Shen Yuan, and his hands were clasped behind him.
Shen Yuan’s body grew tense, and sweat rolled down his face. His heart beat faster, and before he could say anything, the man spoke first.
"To be honest, I am quite perplexed by someone investigating the traces of the killers, yet I cannot sense any negative emotions from him."
The man was naturally Aldrian. He then turned to look at Shen Yuan.
Shen Yuan felt shaken inside. The moment he heard Aldrian speak those words, his instincts told him that the man before him was someone from whom he could hide nothing.
There was no secret that could be concealed from him. Even without opening his mouth, the man in front of him already knew something he did not want anyone else to know.
"Quite the opposite. I can sense a kind of anticipation from you. From what I have learned through your interactions with various people, you are from the Purple Lotus Sect, the ruler of this domain. I have been observing your movements not long after you entered the city," Aldrian continued.
"I have to say that you are the most intelligent person I have seen during the past week. You were able to deduce the assassins’ whereabouts. I am truly impressed that you could reach such a conclusion even though you have not been here for a full day yet." Aldrian smiled.
Shen Yuan’s heart trembled.
This man had been observing him not long after he entered the city?
How did he do that?
Furthermore, this person already knew his intentions, yet he had not tried to kill him and was instead speaking to him in such a manner. It brought Shen Yuan a sense of relief, as he also wanted to learn more about the assassins.
Could this man be exactly the kind of person he had been thinking of?
"You must be wondering why I am not killing you despite the fact that you managed to find me. Well, it is true that I could kill you if I wanted to. However, to be honest, I would rather make use of you if I find you useful. Judging from how people reacted to your token, you seem to possess a high status within the Purple Lotus Sect. Why should I not turn you into my slave?" Aldrian said.
Shen Yuan’s body turned cold.
"But the only reason I have not done anything to you yet is because of my curiosity. Just as I said, you are a strange person for someone searching for the assassins who have been causing chaos within your sect’s territory."
Aldrian looked at Shen Yuan with interest.
"I do not know why you are searching for the killers with such anticipation. It is as if your intention is to meet them, to learn who they are instead of killing them. That intrigues me. Why do you have such feelings? Do you wish to make the assassins your acquaintances or something?"
Silence followed.
Shen Yuan knew that the man before him possessed an ability that allowed him to perceive his thoughts, emotions, and desires. An ability that rendered every lie useless against him.
This was a man who could not be schemed against, as he would know the true intentions of every person he met.
The kind of terrifying opponent he would rather never face.
However, he took a deep breath and released it before looking at Aldrian with narrowed eyes.
"To be honest, yes. I am searching for the assassins because I want to meet them. I want to know their true identities and their real intentions behind all of these assassination incidents. After thinking it through, I realized that these assassinations are not merely the actions of the followers of God Tarius attacking the city. I assume that you are also the one who saved the child named Wei Lang from the high-security prison, correct?"
Aldrian nodded without hesitation, causing Shen Yuan to release a breath.
His deduction was correct.
His heart could not help but surge with even greater anticipation.
"For me, the key to everything is that boy, Wei Lang. He is the reason I began to suspect that these incidents are not merely simple assassinations carried out by the followers of God Tarius. Anything connected to that evil god is something that interests me."
As he spoke, Shen Yuan stared intently at Aldrian.
It was as though he wanted to observe how the man in front of him would react to his words.
He noticed the change in Aldrian’s eyes. The man appeared to have become even more interested.
Shen Yuan tried to calm the anxiety rising within his heart before continuing.
"But the real reason I wanted to meet the assassins, or meet you, is to confirm something."
He paused slightly while continuing to look directly at Aldrian.
"Are you... are you someone who has only recently arrived from the First Heaven? I mean, have you been in the Second Heaven for no longer than two weeks?"
For the first time, Shen Yuan saw a significant change in Aldrian’s expression as his eyebrows rose slightly.
From Shen Yuan’s point of view, it was as though Aldrian had been caught by surprise.
Although he could not know the true meaning behind that change in expression, the fact that he had managed to make Aldrian reveal such a reaction meant that his question had touched upon something important.
Silence lingered for a moment before Aldrian replied.
"Yes."
That single answer nearly made Shen Yuan’s heart burst with joy. One of the answers he had desperately wanted to hear had truly come from Aldrian himself.
He quickly asked another question.
"What do you think about Avergis?"
"My opinion? He is an enemy that I must kill."
Aldrian answered without the slightest hesitation.
With each answer, Aldrian could sense the growing joy within Shen Yuan’s heart.
Although he found it somewhat ridiculous, his mind had already begun searching for an explanation.
Why did Shen Yuan feel this way?
The answer that formed in his mind was truly unexpected.
Although it sounded rather amusing, it was the only explanation he could think of for why the man named Shen Yuan reacted with such excitement to every answer he gave.
"What do you think about the evil gods?" Shen Yuan asked once again.
"Evil gods? That is merely a title used to smear the true identities of the so-called evil gods. They were the gods who defended their homeland against those bastard gods that invaded this universe. The true evil gods are people such as Avergis and Tarius," Aldrian answered in a firm tone.
Shen Yuan’s eyes glimmered, and his lips trembled.
He spoke again.
"Could you show me your energy?"
Aldrian extended his hand toward him.
A moment later, a golden hue of energy appeared above his palm.
The reflection of the golden energy shone within Shen Yuan’s eyes as they widened.
He could feel how special the energy before him was.
He had never seen such energy before.
Nor had he ever experienced such a feeling while facing another person’s energy.
The beautiful golden energy resembled a light capable of illuminating any darkness.
An energy that made anyone who witnessed it feel the urge to bow before it.
An energy that seemed capable of making all things within the universe submit to the one who possessed it.
The energy that was said to have originated from one being.
Thud!
Shen Yuan suddenly dropped to his knees.
Then he lowered his head and kowtowed toward Aldrian.
"Shen Yuan greets the arrival of the Great Emperor of All Heavens."
