Chapter 1252: Part of the Resistance Group
Aldrian released a deep breath after seeing Shen Yuan kowtow to him.
’As expected.’
Just as he had thought, Shen Yuan was truly one of his followers. There was no other reason for Shen Yuan to have all those feelings while searching for the assassins and trying to learn their origins besides wanting to confirm their true identities.
He knew that his return was already known throughout the cosmos, but only his followers understood the significance of that sign.
Added to that was the commotion he had created in the First Heaven. There was no way any of his followers in the Second Heaven could remain oblivious to it.
The news that no one could descend to the First Heaven and no one could ascend to the Second Heaven must have already reached them. The fact that he was able to ascend to the Second Heaven alone was enough to reveal the reason behind it.
Only the person capable of affecting the First Heaven could ascend at will.
Combined with the sudden conflict between the followers of Tarius and Avergis in this city, his followers would be able to deduce that all of this was connected to him.
Aldrian observed Shen Yuan once more.
His age was still young for someone at Middle Immortal Lord Stage, which meant he belonged to the younger generation of followers and had most likely become one because of the influence of an older generation.
However, he did not expect someone like him to be a high-ranking member of a big sect in the Second Heaven.
"Rise," Aldrian said.
Shen Yuan slowly stood up.
"As expected. From your reaction, I already knew this would happen. You are actually one of my followers. This is truly unexpected to me." Aldrian said.
Shen Yuan could not help showing a smile.
"I am only one of the many people across the Second Heaven who have been waiting for your return, Your Majesty. All of them are doing their own part while waiting for your arrival."
Shen Yuan then bowed to him while canceling his disguise technique, revealing his true face.
"And I am Shen Yuan, a descendant of the ancient Shen Family from the Fifth Heaven. Currently, under the identity of the Young Sect Master of the Purple Lotus Sect, I am ready to assist Your Majesty’s journey to return to the highest place where you are supposed to be."
Aldrian nodded with a smile.
"I see. The Shen Family from the Fifth Heaven, huh? I am quite surprised to meet one of my followers so quickly in the Second Heaven. Initially, all the chaos in the city was also meant to attract the attention of any of my followers. I wanted them to know that I am already here, and I wanted to gather more information regarding the Second Heaven."
Shen Yuan nodded.
"This matter will certainly reach our nearby groups, Your Majesty. Although they will not immediately know that it was Your Majesty’s doing, as time passes and Your Majesty continues to do this, they will eventually realize it was Your Majesty."
"Even I did not expect to meet Your Majesty here. It is purely a coincidence, as my initial intention was to investigate why an envoy from Avergis came to the Second Heaven. The incidents in the city attracted my attention, but my main focus was the presence of Breuze, the envoy of Avergis."
"We know that the appearance of an envoy from Avergis means something has happened in the Second Heaven that forced Avergis to send cultivators from the higher heavens. And I knew it had nothing to do with the assassination incidents. It had to be something much bigger."
"Only after piecing together the clues at this moment did I finally realize that Breuze’s presence must be related to searching for Your Majesty’s existence."
Shen Yuan looked at Aldrian with admiration.
Aldrian nodded in understanding.
"I see. Then do you keep in contact with the others in the resistance group all the time? How many members does the resistance have in the Second Heaven?" he asked.
"Yes, Your Majesty. Our resistance group keeps in communication with one another to maintain our information network across the Second Heaven. We have infiltrated many powers throughout the Second Heaven for a long time, and all of that was done to prepare for Your Majesty’s arrival," Shen Yuan replied.
"Even Avergis himself would not realize that we have already infiltrated many of the powers across the Second Heaven. And to be honest, this servant does not know the exact number of members in our resistance group throughout the entire Second Heaven. The Second Heaven is too vast, and in each region, we have different people responsible for the resistance group’s operations."
"But at the very least, our numbers should be in the millions. Even in the Eastern Region alone, we have more than fifty million members, and most of them remain hidden in secret locations."
Aldrian nodded with a thoughtful expression.
"I see. To think that all of you have so many members in the Second Heaven. It seems our battles to retake the Second Heaven will not be as lonely as I thought."
Shen Yuan’s eyes brightened upon hearing about the battles to retake the Second Heaven.
"Your Majesty, are you already planning the war to retake the Second Heaven?"
Aldrian nodded.
"Yes. In fact, my arrival this time is to gather as much intelligence about the Second Heaven as possible in preparation for the attack. All of my followers in the First Heaven are already ready for action, and I know they are eager to fight. I assume the members of the resistance group here feel the same?"
"Of course, Your Majesty. We have already been awaiting that moment! In fact, ever since the sign of your return appeared across the Second Heaven, we have already prepared our manpower in case Your Majesty suddenly barged into the Second Heaven and launched a frontal assault," Shen Yuan answered ecstatically.
Aldrian smiled.
"Good."
All of Shen Yuan’s emotions were genuine, and none of the information he had provided contained any lies.
Aldrian then finally canceled his disguise technique, causing Shen Yuan to freeze upon seeing Aldrian’s true face.
Even though he himself was a man, Shen Yuan could only stare in admiration upon seeing Aldrian’s true appearance.
He could only describe Aldrian with a single word: perfection.
Aldrian was superior to him in every aspect. He was someone who could attract anyone regardless of gender without even doing anything.
Aldrian then looked at the empty space behind Shen Yuan.
"Zervan, Zarven, you don’t need to hide anymore. Our people in the Second Heaven will have to see you sooner or later anyway. He is genuine."
Shen Yuan raised his eyebrows, but then he flinched when he suddenly sensed two presences behind him.
He instinctively turned and created some distance, caught completely by surprise.
His eyes widened as he saw two figures dressed in robes.
His heart trembled because he had not sensed them at all.
They had been standing right behind him the entire time, looking at him with calm gazes.
"Let me introduce you to my companions on this journey. The real assassins you have been looking for. I don’t know if there is anyone in the resistance group here who knows about them, but they were gods in the past. One of their titles was the Twin Angels of Death," Aldrian said.
Hearing that, Shen Yuan was even more shocked.
"Of course I have heard about the legend of the Twin God Assassins. The two assassins from ancient times who were feared by countless beings. The two gods of assassination who became the aspiration of many assassins."
Shen Yuan said with reverence and then clasped his hands and bowed toward the twins.
"It is truly my honor and fortune to meet the two of you, God Zervan and God Zarven. Even among our group, there are still assassins who speak of your legends. They also wish to become like you."
Zervan and Zarven raised their eyebrows.
"Oh? To think that there is still someone here who remembers us. I thought we had already been forgotten by time," Zervan said.
"Of course not, Your Excellency. How could your legends be easily forgotten? How could the assassins who made the invaders tremble in fear merely by hearing your titles be forgotten?" Shen Yuan said with a smile.
"It is no wonder those people are helpless when tracking the assassins’ traces. If it is Your Excellencies, I can confidently say that it is impossible for them to track you."
The twins did not change their expressions and said nothing in response to Shen Yuan’s praise.
Aldrian merely smiled. He could not help but wonder what Shen Yuan’s reaction would be if he knew that the twins had almost killed him.
The only reason they had not killed Shen Yuan was because Aldrian had stopped them, as he was curious about Shen Yuan’s strange feelings and wanted to learn more about him.
"Shen Yuan, do you know how I can meet the high-ranking members of the resistance group? I want to get to know them and also discuss our future plans," Aldrian said.
Shen Yuan looked at Aldrian and nodded enthusiastically.
"That would be quite easy, Your Majesty. After our meeting today, I will spread news of Your Majesty’s arrival to the other members of the resistance. They need to know that Your Majesty has arrived anyway, and I can already imagine many of them rushing here to meet Your Majesty, including our higher-ups."
"However, because of some of their identities and the distances involved, I think some of them may arrive much later. But they will indeed rush to meet Your Majesty," Shen Yuan said with complete certainty.
