Pei Lang’s tears finally fell, which he quickly wiped away. His heart felt at peace. Although he intended to grow stronger, he had always felt scared for his future. If he wanted to pay back what had been done to him and his family, then he would have to kill someone.

As someone who had never killed before and had always lived an ordinary life without attracting any attention, he felt scared of the future where he would have to take a human life.

Could he do it? Could he avenge his family? Could he really do this or that?

His mind, as a boy who had never killed anyone, felt like he was not ready for such a thing.

But when he heard that many of the people he believed were responsible for his parents’ deaths had died, he felt a weight lift from his heart.

Even though he was not the one who personally paid back what he had experienced or what had happened to his parents, he was already satisfied.

Just hearing that all of them were dead was already enough for him.

Aldrian faintly smiled at Pei Lang and touched the boy’s head.

"Thank you for avenging my parents, mister. Thank you," Pei Lang said while continuing to wipe away his tears.

Aldrian did not say anything. He simply stroked Pei Lang’s head while looking at the scenery outside.

Later, the people finally learned what had happened. With so much commotion and so many witnesses, there was no way anyone could hide the incident.

The news spread that the city lord had died and that the temple of Su City had been attacked by God Tarius’ followers. The assassins who followed God Tarius killed many people and even decapitated the statue of God Avergis inside the temple.

This caused outrage among the people, and their hatred toward the followers of God Tarius rose to an extreme level.

The tournament also had to be prematurely stopped, as the incident was too large and too concerning for it to continue.

Although many people were disappointed that it ended that way, they understood the reason. With the current situation, there was no way the tournament could continue.

The city lord and many important figures were already dead, yet the assassins were still on the loose. It would be too dangerous to keep the tournament going. That was why many of the figures who had attended the tournament quickly left Su City and returned to their respective powers.

However, many of them also left people behind to observe the development of the incident. They needed ears and eyes that could quickly report to them if anything happened.

For the next few days, the people continued talking about it. The Zhu family also did not remain silent after the chaos, and they sent many more people to handle the situation.

Among the people who felt responsible for the chaos, the Zhu family was undoubtedly one of them. The city was under their rule, yet they had been unable to do much to prevent the incident.

Besides Breuze, who felt humiliated by what had happened, the Zhu family felt the same. The assassins had shown no regard for their status and had been able to wreak havoc throughout Su City, killing many of their trusted people.

Moreover, all of it had happened while there was an envoy from their god present.

This truly gave them a bad image.

They sent many of their strong elders to strengthen the security in Su City and also to investigate the assassins’ whereabouts. After the day they attacked the temple, the assassins seemed to have simply disappeared. There were no more assassination incidents.

They did not leave behind any traces that could be used to track them. The only trace they left was the energy of God Tarius’ followers.

But that was not enough, as it only proved the faction to which the assassins belonged.

Inside the city lord’s mansion, several elders of the Zhu family gathered in one of the rooms to discuss the matter. They looked pissed, with one of them saying to the others,

"This is truly infuriating. Those bastard assassins are really good at hiding their traces. All of our tracking methods are useless. How could they do that?"

He was a middle-aged man with long black hair. His cultivation was at Low Immortal Saint Stage.

"It’s as expected. Even the envoy of our god cannot track them. It will be difficult for us to do that."

Another elder spoke. This one was an old man with long white hair and a long beard.

"But I think that after creating all of that chaos, the assassins have already left the city. They haven’t made any moves during the past few days. If they have truly left the city, then we could say that finding them is almost impossible."

Another elder spoke. This one was a middle-aged man with long brown hair tied in a ponytail. He then looked at the elder seated in the central position.

"What do you think, Grand Elder?"

He asked an old man with short white hair and a short beard. His bulky build truly contrasted with the other elders. His square-shaped face already showed how fierce his character was.

He was the strongest among them, with his cultivation almost reaching Middle Immortal Saint Stage. He was one of the three Grand Elders of the Zhu family.

Zhu Tianyu.

"We will stay here for the next few days. Let’s see if we can find something, and if we cannot, then we can think of another solution. For now, we must inform the nearby cities about the assassins and tell them to strengthen their security."

He paused before continuing.

"This incident has attracted the attention of many people, including those from the Purple Lotus Sect. It couldn’t be helped, as the incident was simply too large, and the news regarding the presence of the envoy from our god has also reached them. I do not doubt that they will send someone here to assess the situation."

The others’ expressions turned solemn. The Purple Lotus Sect was the true hegemon of the domain they lived in. The Zhu family might rule this realm, but they were still within the Purple Lotus Sect’s domain.

The true sovereign of this vast land.

"The Purple Lotus Sect, huh? This has truly become a big problem for us. We have suddenly become the center of attention. I don’t know whether that is a good thing or a bad thing."

The black-haired elder spoke.

The others did not say anything and silently thought about it.

While the elders of the Zhu family were still discussing the matter, Breuze stood inside the temple, looking at the large statue that had already been repaired. He looked at the statue’s head with a pious expression. A moment later, Icorus walked to his side.

"We have already searched the entire temple area during the past few days and found nothing suspicious. We have also repaired the damaged parts of the temple," Icorus said.

Breuze nodded but did not take his eyes off the statue.

After a few moments of silence, Icorus spoke.

"What are we going to do now, my lord? Do we still look for that mysterious being, or do we deal with the followers of God Tarius here while waiting for our lord god’s next guidance?"

"We have to deal with the followers of God Tarius first. Moreover, we have already lost more than half of our group, and with our current manpower, there is no way we can effectively search for anyone. Worse, we might get slaughtered if those assassins decide to attack us," Breuze replied.

He then looked at Icorus.

"We will continue to stay here while looking for traces of those assassins and waiting for our lord god’s guidance. Although those assassins may have already left the city, we will see if we can find something here."

His eyes glistened.

"We have to catch those bastards for their blasphemous act. I will not rest until I see them dead with my own eyes."

Icorus nodded. He felt the same way. He was also furious that those assassins had dared to treat the statue of their god in such a manner.

His fury had reached the point where he would kill every follower of God Tarius he encountered.

How dare those blasphemous savages desecrate their god’s statue like that?

As Breuze and Icorus continued looking at the large statue, one of their subordinates approached them and bowed.

"My lord, an envoy from the Purple Lotus Sect, the ruler of this domain, is approaching the temple. They are requesting an audience with you."

Breuze looked at his subordinate and nodded.

"Bring them to me."

"Yes, my lord."

The man replied before leaving to carry out Breuze’s order.

Not far from the temple, a large cruiser with the shape of a giant spaceship floated in the air. Several people stood on top of it, waiting until the man who had just reported to Breuze arrived and shouted,

"Our lord has granted his permission. From this moment on, you must land over there and proceed on foot."

"Thank you for the information," one of the men standing atop the cruiser replied.

The cruiser then descended and landed at the place the man had pointed to. Not long after, several people stepped out of the cruiser and landed on the ground.
