……
To Almark's silence, Morgen hastily adds words.
"You think it's another nasty rumor I brought in!
'Cause there's no basement in this dorm.
"I heard that from one pair of guys before! It could be hidden somewhere."
"You mean the secret basement?
"Yes, a secret place! Only Mr. Maia knows how to lock up a child against himself in that secret place."
"Lock him up... Was there a missing student at this college?
"Well, that hasn't happened since I started school..."
Almark sighed as Morgen wandered off.
"That's enough. We are certainly the finest students. [M] Mr. Cassis...... is that it? let's do our best until we get better."
"Yeah."
But questions remain about Almark.
"... but are we the only three years left? I think there was something else."
"Half of us left are in third grade.... I was unlucky."
Morgen shakes his head.
"Our luck happened to be in Mr. Maia's sight."
"Hmmm......"
Unintelligible Almark.
"I don't know... I'm not convinced..."
"Then why don't you do it? You want me to go say no to Mr. Maia and let someone else do it? Or would you tell Maia that year to do it alone?
"... ok, ok. I won't tell you anymore. I'll do it, Morgen."
Surrendering, Almark and Morgen went to the equipment room, and when they brought out the tools, they headed to the stairs on the third floor.
Watch Morgen cleverly fix a broken tree handrail with a tool, and Almark gives an exclamation.
"Wow, Morgen"
"Well, because you're a dusty son. I'm not in charge, but if it's about dealing with trees, this is about it."
Morgen answers that in a non-uniform manner.
"Because you're the son of a mercenary, it's just like the battle is strong."
"... right, that sort of thing"
Almark was oddly convinced and stared at Morgen's manipulative tool movements without getting tired of it.
Starting the next day, after breakfast, the days began when I could show my face in the janitor's office and say what I had to do that day.
Maia's waiting for the two of us in the janitor's office, and she looks at her face. No,
"You're here. This is it for today."
I can run errands while I say.
The majority ended up without time with minor errands such as simple repairs and going to the school building to pick up daily necessities, but sometimes it was like a half-day job without success.
At first it was Almark, who reluctantly undertook it in the form of dating Morgen, but unexpectedly it was also a daily stimulus, and I was gradually beginning to like this job.
Daily work most of the time didn't take much time and didn't get in the way of meditation or reading, and I enjoyed watching Morgen's lively work and trying to imitate it myself.
Sure, Maia could say whatever she wanted, and she never said a word of thanks to the two of us yet, but she was getting used to that saying, and Almark, like Morgen, was starting to think, "Oh, that's who this guy is".
According to Morgen, the other third graders who have been in this college since freshman year have already reached that frontier.
If someone has to do something, can we do something else?
Almark now works like that.
"If you can't be a magician, you and I could do anything like a shop like this."
Morgen says.
"Well, you're good, but I can't do anything."
shrugged his shoulder. Almark replied.
Almark intended to be clever himself, but admitted that he was completely better at Morgen when it comes to working with tools.
"Then you're my escort."
says Morgen as he grins.
"Protect me."
"Why do you need an escort to the store for anything?"
Almark answers with a bitter laugh.
The two finished their breakfast and were still headed to the janitor's office today.
"I wonder what kind of work it is today"
"I don't care, I don't know if Mr. Cassis's cold is cured yet"
We arrive in front of the janitor's office talking about that, and Almark knocks on the door.
Maia won't respond just because she knocked, but when she didn't, she went in, and that pissed me off, so she knocked and then she went in without waiting for a response, the two of them had decided.
"Come in."
The two of us speak up and say so, open the door and go inside.
"Oh, you're here."
Maia glimpses the two of them from the comfort chair in the back of the room.
"That's what I do today."
It was the old key that was placed on the table pointing to it.
Almark takes it. Slightly larger and heavier in children's hands.
"Is this...?
The keys to the basement.
Maia says rush.
Morgen raised his voice, hissing.
"One, finally out! Chichi basement."
"What are you talking about, you?"
Maia takes a good look at Morgen.
"It's time for your vacation, isn't it? Then we'll have to get a sign in the basement."
"Billboard?"
Morgen listens back.
"You'll have a martial arts tournament soon after your vacation. There will be a lot of customers there. I have to put signs around the dorm so no one gets lost. It's gone underground."
I heard that. Morgen makes a terrible confirmation.
"There's no basement in this dorm."
"You have a key because you have one."
Maia tells me to sniff and sniff.
"What were you talking about earlier, you?"
"Where is it, the basement?"
Almark asks.
At least, there are no stairs in the dorm that descend from the ground floor down.
"What, you don't know? I thought you guys weren't out in your childhood habits. You have a small door on the shady wall of the implant behind you. That's the entrance to the storage room."
"Also, storage?
Morgen listens back.
"Isn't that the basement?
"You can either. It's an underground storage unit."
"Also, is it a storage unit? Was the secret basement a storage unit?"
"Who told you it was a secret?"
"No, nobody said that"
"There's a sign in the crate behind the store. Look, you're gonna have to bring one with you. There's nothing extra in the wood. If you don't have enough, you won't be able to put together a sign, so don't forget it."
Maia pushed her precautions with a fearful face. Later,
"Come on, if you know what I mean, just go. I'm busy here."
say and start knitting as usual.
I don't care how you look at it, it doesn't look busy.
"Let's go, Morgen"
Almark prompted Morgen to leave the room.
