Chapter 1451 - 1466: An Ambush Awaits
With his skills, trying to break free was indeed too difficult.
"Haha, do you really think you have the face? Acting all tough?" Lin Mu said, then launched a kick toward Bald Guy’s stomach.
Bald Guy grunted, clutching his stomach as he fell to the ground.
"Not so tough now, huh?" Lin Mu gave Bald Guy a dissatisfied kick. Lin Mu usually couldn’t stand these talentless show-offs. Worse, this guy kept provoking despite having no skills. Not putting him in his place would be an injustice to his parents.
So, without hesitation, Lin Mu threw a punch to teach him a lesson: out on the streets, don’t pretend to be tough if you ain’t got the skills!
After taking the punch, Bald Guy curled up on the ground like a shrimp.
"Stop pretending. I’ll give you ten seconds to stand up, or else I’ll kick you to death," Lin Mu warned Bald Guy on the floor.
Hearing this, Bald Guy scrambled to get up. He had no doubt Lin Mu would really kick him to death if he didn’t stand up.
Bald Guy stood up in terror, his previous arrogance entirely gone. If he had been extremely arrogant before, he now had no temper at all, looking more like a small fry.
Lin Mu reached out and patted Bald Guy’s chubby face. You can’t give such a person face, or they’ll think they’re something special. You can’t reason with this type; they bully the weak and fear the strong. The more you hit them, the more they fear you.
"Had enough?" Lin Mu smirked at Bald Guy.
"Yes, yes," Bald Guy nodded quickly, clearly understanding that pretending gets you struck by lightning.
"Still gonna pretend in the future?"
"No... never again..."
"Haha, not bad. Though you acted tough, you caught on fast. Alright, take me to the rooftop, and if you try any tricks, I’ll twist your head off and use it as a soccer ball. Believe me?" Lin Mu asked Bald Guy.
Terrified, Bald Guy nodded quickly, "I believe... I believe, boss."
"Then let’s go. Take me up. How many people are upstairs?" Lin Mu asked Bald Guy.
"B-boss, I only manage this hall. I’m not familiar with the upstairs," Bald Guy said with a bitter look, clearly scared Lin Mu wouldn’t believe him and would hit him again.
"You don’t know?" Lin Mu questioned Bald Guy.
"Boss, no, grandmaster, I’m not lying. I really don’t know. I’m just a minor leader, and there are others in charge above me," Bald Guy explained.
Lin Mu chuckled and patted Bald Guy’s shoulder. "It’s okay, I believe you. Anyway, you’re coming up with me. If there are any traps, you’ll be the first to get hit. So, you’d better find another way to protect yourself and let me get up there smoothly. I don’t want to waste time. Once we’re up there, you don’t have to worry about anything."
Bald Guy wiped the sweat from his forehead and nodded reluctantly, "Boss, I’ll do as you say."
"Let’s go. Lead the way. I don’t want to waste time," Lin Mu said.
Quickly, with Bald Guy leading the way, Lin Mu headed upstairs.
The elevator was broken, so there was no way to take it. From the first floor to the top floor, it would only take a few minutes at most.
That’s why Lin Mu had Bald Guy lead the way. While Bald Guy didn’t know much, he knew some details as a local. Lin Mu didn’t want to waste time; the priority now was to rescue Haihua.
Bald Guy led the way upfront, with Lin Mu following closely behind, encountering no problems along the way.
Upon reaching the twelfth floor of the building, Bald Guy stopped.
"B-boss, there’s another group of people ambushed upstairs," Bald Guy said, looking at Lin Mu.
"I don’t want to waste time. I assume you have a way to handle this, right?" Lin Mu smiled and asked.
"This..."
"Cut the crap. My patience is limited. Don’t force me to take action. If I do, it’ll be over for you. Understand?" Lin Mu said, looking at Bald Guy.
Bald Guy wiped the sweat from his forehead, "I’ll do my best."
"Then let’s go," Lin Mu smiled and said.
"Okay, let’s head this way," Bald Guy said, looking at Lin Mu.
"Whichever way you choose, just don’t waste my time," Lin Mu said.
With Bald Guy leading, Lin Mu passed through a corridor to another stairway, "This stairway is blocked below, so there’s no ambush here. We can go this way."
"Okay, let’s go together," Lin Mu smiled, and having such a guide indeed spared him a lot of trouble. Although dealing with them was easy, these people were like flies, annoying to get rid of. The less they stick to him, the better.
Soon, under Bald Guy’s guidance, they ascended via the other stairway to the top level of the building.
Going this way, no one appeared along the way, confirming there was no ambush here.
"B-boss, we’re on top now. Do you think you could let me go?" Bald Guy asked Lin Mu with a pleading face.
Since they were already on top, Lin Mu couldn’t be bothered to haggle with Bald Guy. After all, he was just a subordinate, and there was no personal vendetta that warranted making things hard for him.
"You can go, but remember, if you go against Flying Dragon again and I catch you next time, it won’t be this easy," Lin Mu warned Lanzai.
Hearing Lin Mu’s words, Bald Guy nodded quickly as if granted amnesty, saying, "I remember, I remember. I won’t dare next time."
"Alright, you can go," Lin Mu waved him off.
Thus, Bald Guy turned and ran downstairs, while Lin Mu glanced around and then went up to the rooftop.
On the rooftop, it was empty with no one visible, but Lin Mu vaguely sensed a murderous aura.
"I’m here. No need to hide. Come out," Lin Mu said, standing on the open rooftop of the building.
As soon as Lin Mu finished speaking, a burst of wild laughter echoed.
"Haha..." Along with the rough laughter, a chubby fat man emerged from the side.
Because there were several small stone huts on the open rooftop, quite a few people could hide inside.
Lin Mu glanced at this fat man, darn, his build was almost a match for King Kong. Of course, while both had similar sizes, they were entirely different. King Kong was muscular, while this fatty was just fat. His whole body jiggled with each step.
