Chapter 495: Dragon Vs Adventurers
A light-blue-haired lady was at the farthest away from the dragon, commanding and sending waves of ice to displace the dragon, as it evaded some and crushed many quickly.
She was the greatest asset of the battle, effectively delaying their defeat with every move she made.
She stood at the rear, her light blue hair whipping in the wind as she wove spell after spell with practiced precision.
Each wave of frost she sent forth forced the dragon to adjust its positioning, buying precious seconds for her companions to regroup and strike.
Her pale violet dress fluttered around her slender form, and her movements were dance-like, graceful and deliberate despite the chaos surrounding her.
Alongside the Amazon, there was a slender and short woman with massive breasts, dressed in fur-lined top and hairy, loose lower half, completed with big boots.
She moved with supernatural speed for someone so compact, her powerful frame moving her across the battlefield in quick, decisive bursts.
Her weapon was a massive axe, nearly as large as she was, its blade gleaming with a sharpness that spoke of meticulous care and countless battles.
She had short deep red hair, some side twists in braids.
With the powerful axe, she push forward suddenly and take powerful slashes at the dragon, always crushing its surface scales, but not doing more than that.
Each swing of her axe sent shockwaves through the air, the impact rattling the dragon’s massive form and leaving deep gouges in its protective hide.
But the scales were thick, unnaturally so, and even her mighty blows could not pierce through to the flesh beneath.
With the shielding of the Amazon, she had been messing up the dragon when the Elf wasn’t on deck, but she had to concentrate those strikes or else it would take centuries to completely destroy the beast.
Well, for her—a dwarf—it would be easy to fight it for a few more centuries with the Amazon providing support.
Their lifespans were long, their endurance nearly inexhaustible, and they could afford to play the long game against an enemy that could not match their stamina.
But the other adventurers were more... human, save for the blue-haired girl.
"Say, Heka," Benjamin folded his legs on Maximus, squinting at the ice controlling girl, "that cute girl in the light purple dress... she’s not a human, is she?"
Heka nodded, a huge wave of explosion rustled her blonde hair; "Yes, that individual is a witch. An ice witch, apparently."
Witches were rare, their numbers dwindling with each passing generation, and those who still walked the world were powerful beyond measure.
"Huh? Witch?" Benjamin raised a brow, "what is the difference between them and humans?"
"In truth, not much. Witches are more spirit and magic, anchored by a fleshy vessel, making them naturally very long-lived, and even some eternal." Heka explained carefully, choosing her words with precision. "Whereas humans are more flesh than spirit and magic, making them very anchored by their physical body in the world. But in every other area, we’re all practically the same."
The distinction was subtle but significant, a matter of essence rather than appearance.
Witches and humans looked alike, spoke alike. But beneath the surface, there was a fundamental difference in how they experienced the world, how they interacted with the magic that flowed through all things.
The Elf and the human girl at the front lines were doing abnormally fine taking fire breaths and claw strikes.
They moved with a fluidity that seemed almost supernatural, dodging attacks that should have been impossible to avoid, parrying blows that should have shattered their weapons.
Their skill was impressive, undeniable.
But this was because two mage—a boy and a girl with the same blonde hair—was at the rear using defensive magic on them, sparingly and when an attack was incoming.
There was magic shimmering around the front-line fighters, barely visible to the naked eye but unmistakable to anyone with even a hint of magical sensitivity.
The mages were careful, economical, preserving their energy for the moments when it was most needed.
At every jaw point the Elf found himself, swirling symbols and glyphs formed a ball-like glowing defense that allowed him to strike regardless of the attack.
The magic was elegant, intricate, a testament to the skill and training of the two mages who wove it.
They had done this before, many times, and their coordination was seamless.
The same with the katana-wielding lady in a black sleeveless top and dark flare short skirt.
She fought with a ferocity that belied her slender frame, her blade singing through the air as she tried to carve into the dragon’s hide.
The defensive magic wrapped around her like a second skin, turning aside attacks that would have otherwise ended her life.
The dragon swam on the grasses, with the Elf already inside its jaws.
The massive beast thrashed and rolled, trying to crush the intruder who had dared to enter its domain.
But the Elf was protected by the mages, so he dealt a lot of damage to the inside of the dragon before it spat him out.
It realized the katana girl was atop its head just in time to close the eye she targeted to stab, the flesh there strong enough to deflect the blade before its tail lashed at her.
She was thrown back, tumbling across the grass, but she was already rising, already preparing for her next attack.
The dragon’s tail whipped around again, and she was forced to dive aside to avoid being crushed.
It released a flood of blue flames that burst as wide as 60 meters, consuming everything unprotected within a 100 meters.
The fire was beautiful and terrible, a cascade of azure destruction that painted the sky in shades of blue and white.
The heat was intense, even from Heka and Benjamin’s distance, and Heka could feel it washing over her like a wave.
As the incoming blue flame light reflected on Heka’s face, she blushed and squeezed her thighs together, lightly spreading her arms as if welcoming it.
The sensation of heat against her skin sent a shiver of pleasure down her spine, and she found herself leaning into the warmth, craving more.
FUUU!
The fires immediately and abruptly disappeared as Benjamin softly blew a gust of air from his mouth casually.
He had not even raised a hand, had not shown any sign of effort, and yet the flames had vanished as if they had never been.
